I first saw Mdou Moctar 10 years ago, it's been cool to see his career take off. At first he would have an acoustic part in his set with just him and a drummer. I don't think he does that anymore

Check out Les filles de Illighadad, also from Niger, they're awesome.
Funny thing is I saw them walk down the street to the venue in their traditional attire, and nobody batted an eye (at most some might have thought they were going to a wedding, because they were fancy). It was in Montreuil, near Paris, huge communities from Mali and Niger, so some in the audience are dressed like that, and it's an electric atmosphere
