Nope. Be careful what kind of news you're consuming, particularly from your devices where the algorithm will push the most disturbing and extreme content possible to improve engagement and increase profits. NYC still has a lower violent crime rate than most places, equal to or lower than many rural areas per capita.

Do not process news with emotion; process with numbers only. Your emotions are their profit.

The film-makers are completely up front about half of it being made up. doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone, which is pretty weird. At least Inside Llewyn Davis wasn't called Inside Dave Van Ronk.

well, as a historian, i can say significant amount of history is fiction, and that before we get into autobiographies and bioptics...(you just have to read b/tn the lines)

I feel like I have already had a peak experience with that movie without having seen it, when Jim the Poet and Micah were talking about vampire movies and a caller tried to change the subject to A Complete Unknown and Dylan, and Micah said, "Talk about a vampire!"!

Felt like the final word on the subject to me!

Fabio:

I have no issuewith "fictionalization" in movies, but the way "real" details are dealt with can be a problem. So it depends on how the filmmakers choose to represent these things. Biopics in general though are often heavily distanced from the truth. With Dylan, this is even more complicated since he himself has been accused of making stuff up about himself.

Well, if you accept that nothing is purely objective, there will always be some fuzziness for the truth. However, w/ ,multiple sources, contemporary or otherwise, archaeology, and in the last 130 years, recorded (sound/video/etc) documentation, it makes it easier to figure where history may or not be. I'm not saying that the truth can't be ascertained, it's just not a fixed point that one may arrive upon just based on what some write or say. (then you get into interdisciplinary studies to help pinpoint context)....

I fully accept a broadly accepted recognition, that 'history' is written by 'the victors', and it is also rife with mythologies of the tribes it is speaking to; it supports ideas that further its continuance and its domination over other ideas that might crowd it. That's a broad picture that, indeed, always needs to be weighed. BUT, if I feed a 'public' a narrative about NGH, and I have made up all the details, and I assure them that it's NGH's life story, and I get them to accept that story, regardless of NGH, so that I can make money, so that I can make up more of whatever I feel like, about you and you and you, and nobody employs objectivity (whatever that is at this point) it seems problematic. Devoid of discernment and critique. Dogs and cats are more savvy than that. They instinctively know they'll get killed if they aren't.
