This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

In the early 70s the Verve Melle album could early be found for a dollar or so. I got it and liked it but didn't know anything else from him. Wasn't until recently that I learned he initially was a tenor sax player etc. Oh, the days before the internet when linernotes and a few music publications was the only available info.

the main thing i appreciate about connor is that his work all seems to radiate from the same place....there's an analogy i read in an architectural journal about bernini and borromini.... bernini's trajectory in rome for instance projected convexly, radiating outwards, borromini worked in the wake of bernini's projection, sort of shadowing it....radiating inwards....a convex/ concave relationship
analogous to this analogy is how i see rauschenberg's and connor's work relating
Avatar 8:48pm
Flash Strap:

Can's records circa '77 were their weakest yet, but their live sound at that time was incredible, regarded by some heads as their best live period.

this concert yielded that awesome performance of Fizz that shows up on the Live Box (and is actually a truncated version of a longer rendition which appears on this release)

tho, Motherwell's ab ex is way way less sympatico with Ernst than Conner's special blend of post-Rauschenberg, pop-art adjacent, psychedelic religiosity - there's no comparison! which is sort of what Motherwell gets around to, even going so far as to say Ernst essentially obliterates him and that he finds peace in that

hahaha i rank him a little more highly, especially among his cohort, but i don't completely disagree - the real answer is mainly that they were close friends

i remember thinking, yeah Ernst blows you out of the water because you have very little to say and you make sure to say even less - why do you do that man? but that's the American aspect, in his estimation. i think Conner & cohort do not adhere to that and that's why i love them

Marvelous Music Episode today! Flash!

I'm going to look back at your past episodes to find info on that No 94 and No 95 graphic. I remember you featured images from that series before and there was some discussion but can't remember the source.

Anyways, great tunes, many thanks.
Hoping the best to you and all y'all for year of 2025.
