Also, it just so happens I watched Good Morning, Vietnam for the first time two weeks ago and loved it. So this show comes at a nice time for me when that movie's first impression on me is still fresh in my mind.

	5:29pm postconsumer: This one's on the actual soundtrack. had to keep it in because there's a lot of dialogue which dovetails with it. But the truth is I LOVED this song when i was a little boy. probably played it 30 or 40 times a day, on a loop. again, I was weird. 😂
	5:30pm postconsumer: I'm going to over explain, as we go along here, so forgive my excitement,,,
	5:31pm postconsumer: the movie is supposedly set in 1965, at least the beginning is. When Cronauer steps off the plane, in Saigon, and goes to work for AFVN, it’s 1965. But we don’t know how long he was there, in the story. The movie could be interpreted as taking place quickly over a short period of time. Does he get himself sent home almost immediately, or does it take a couple of years?
	5:32pm postconsumer: one thing we know for sure is Robin Williams is playing a dj caricature of his own creation, and is "Adrian Cronauer," the real dj from AFVN, in name only. so there was a lot of freedom to explore the territory...
	5:33pm postconsumer: In reality, according to the internet, which is unreliable (never forget), he was in Saigon from 1965 to 1966, but it says his service ended in 1967 - so, who knows.
	5:34pm postconsumer: Im working my way to a point here. trust me. 🤣
	5:35pm postconsumer: I chose 1967 because one of the key moments in the film includes What a Wonderful World, recorded by Louis Armstrong, which came out in 1967. So that’s how the year was chosen. Thankfully, as popular music was really changing in the last half of the sixties, and being able to include songs from 1966 and 1967 made for a much more dynamic mix. very interesting to see what was happening EXACTLY at this turning point.

	5:47pm postconsumer: Many of the really famous "teen" singles from this era are still fun to listen to, even if the lyrics are clearly written by and for teenagers. Not this one, though. I love this song. First heard The Cramps version of course

I used to watch Ready, Steady Go on the Disney channel in the late 80s. Dave Clark bought the rights to the series and did the intro each week. There was one where the Four Pennies were performing a soppy ballad Juliet. Garrity was in the audience. He spotted the camera and started mugging making faces. Minutes later he is whisked away out of camera shot.

	6:03pm postconsumer: “Liar, Liar” was recorded at Kay Bank Studios, on Nicollet, in Minneapolis. The street address of the building, 2541 Nicollet inspired the song 2541 by Grant Hart of Husker Du. Castaways founding member James Donna lived in NE Minneapolis in the 1960s. His Dad worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis, where my Dad worked, in the 80s.

	5:31pm postconsumer: the movie is supposedly set in 1965, at least the beginning is. When Cronauer steps off the plane, in Saigon, and goes to work for AFVN, it’s 1965. But we don’t know how long he was there, in the story. The movie could be interpreted as taking place quickly over a short period of time. Does he get himself sent home almost immediately, or does it take a couple of years?
	5:32pm postconsumer: one thing we know for sure is Robin Williams is playing a dj caricature of his own creation, and is "Adrian Cronauer," the real dj from AFVN, in name only. so there was a lot of freedom to explore the territory...
	5:33pm postconsumer: In reality, according to the internet, which is unreliable (never forget), he was in Saigon from 1965 to 1966, but it says his service ended in 1967 - so, who knows.
	5:34pm postconsumer: Im working my way to a point here. trust me. 🤣
	5:35pm postconsumer: I chose 1967 because one of the key moments in the film includes What a Wonderful World, recorded by Louis Armstrong, which came out in 1967. So that’s how the year was chosen. Thankfully, as popular music was really changing in the last half of the sixties, and being able to include songs from 1966 and 1967 made for a much more dynamic mix. very interesting to see what was happening EXACTLY at this turning point.

I used to watch Ready, Steady Go on the Disney channel in the late 80s. Dave Clark bought the rights to the series and did the intro each week. There was one where the Four Pennies were performing a soppy ballad Juliet. Garrity was in the audience. He spotted the camera and started mugging making faces. Minutes later he is whisked away out of camera shot.

Castaways founding member James Donna lived in NE Minneapolis in the 1960s. His Dad worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis, where my Dad worked, in the 80s.
