Some of these sounds would certainly qualify as "Music From The Hearts of Space," style New Age Music, and certainly when I was growing up, albums like this were mocked, or considered subpar, compared to other electronic music. I recall New Age music being the butt of any number of jokes. MST3K has a skit mocking how easy it is to make New Age Music, and that it has no substance otherwise.

I think, particularly in the last 10 or so years, the reputation of music like this has been rehabilitated. People now slot this in with other Electronic Music easily, and many of these kinds of artists have endured where 90's electronic dance music hasn't fared as well. Having spent more time over the years playing and listening to experimental music, I see how much closer New Age is to that world, and how the other kinds of electronic music out there can take on a number of forms.

I've mentioned it before, but WFMU had a program called Synthetic Pleasure hosted by Richard Ginsburg in the 70s/80s. He's the guy who had Yanni come down to the studio in East Orange to play live. Ironically, Pat Duncan who hosted the wildly popular punk/hardcore show that had live bands that would become legendary had a synth theme song by Tangerine Dream.

As you'll notice, I had to leave myself "time notes," so I would have an idea of when one song ends and another begins. While I think it's largely clear from listening, I wanted to make sure I get the transitions right for the future.

Great idea to add the song duration as a marker and a reminder, Austin!

I see that you're also cleaning up that extra song information as go you, which is brilliant (and diligent to boot). Otherwise the extra info. becomes part of the searchable song title, when using in the super-sweet FMU archive search tool. The KenzoDB people will be all sorts of pleased, as they're big fans of precision! [I help out with the playlists for one of the WFMU programs].
