	7:46pm Ike: I backpacked around Thailand, Laos, and southwestern China in 2007. Thailand and Laos were easy and friendly; China was comparatively unpleasant and full of rude smokers. (Also, most disgusting bathrooms ever.) But that area was somewhat undeveloped at the time. I also did an afternoon in HK once during a flight layover and that was a hell of a lot easier and totally fun.

	7:51pm wimpy: Ah that explains it. I was thinking I might’ve heard another dj play a version. Also yeah, I’ve heard china has undergone a massive change in the last 20 years when it comes to stuff like pollution and cleanliness, although the rudeness might still persist. I visited Germany once and had largely the same takeaway, that the people there were very rude.
	7:55pm Ike: My visit to Germany circa 2016 wasn't bad at all compared to China. People were occasionally a little brusque but not quite actually rude (and the food was surprisingly delicious). But I was only there for a few days.

Recently I was walking around deep southern Brooklyn (near Homecrest/Gravesend or maybe southern Midwood) and there was a huge ambulance-chaser billboard IN UZBEK! That's gotta mean the Uzbek community has truly made it here now, right?

Also yeah, I’ve heard china has undergone a massive change in the last 20 years when it comes to stuff like pollution and cleanliness, although the rudeness might still persist. I visited Germany once and had largely the same takeaway, that the people there were very rude.
	7:55pm Ike: My visit to Germany circa 2016 wasn't bad at all compared to China. People were occasionally a little brusque but not quite actually rude (and the food was surprisingly delicious). But I was only there for a few days.
