Kitty news: little Tzipi got tspayed this week, and is recovering tsplendidly. My wife mentioned her swimmy run to the vet, who took an x-ray and found an old, healed pelvic fracture. Poor past trauma kitty! It doesn't get her down tho: she's Harlem tough.

Freshman Spanish class in high school. A student reads aloud a written sentence of his own that includes "mierda en un plato." Teacher, a brother in a religious order, surprisingly only says, "Oh, no come a casa de Smith."
Couple years later year, a different student in Spanish II or III class steps to desk of teacher, a young woman lay teacher, he sees the grade on the work she hands him and he says, with fairly quiet despair as he steps away, "Are you shitting me?" The next day, regular class is delayed as the headmaster comes in to that classroom to lecture us about disrespect and language.
Lo inesperado en cada ocasión. My own unspoken reaction I and II was "are you shitting me?"

Later that night, I met Lowell George. He shook my hand, then pulled the back stage pass off his Levis and slapped it on my chest.
I know this sounds like baloney, but you have to realize, I didn't live like other people.

My parry is to turn the argument back against those damn language liberals. Since Joe and Jane Average get to decide what the language is, then I, Dean Average, get to have my say. And I say "beg the question" does not mean "provokes the question."

"The U.S. Senate comprises a collection of dangerous imbeciles" is correct.
"The U.S. Senate is comprised of..." or
"A collection of dangerous imbeciles comprise..."
are both incorrect.

Love the good and bad and hokey and odd and styles-of-the-day that hit a good spot in variety show sets and backgrounds. Might've been fun to design them for a living. The ones behind or around solo or group performers that are strictly graphic or sculptural with limited real references. Victorian villages for Xmas specials...yawn.
