"Alice Lindsay has been a busy violist in the New York area for some years now, as a solo recitalist and teacher as well as first‐desk player with the New Jersey Symphony, the Orchestral Society of Philadelphia and, presently, with the Chamber Symphony of New Jersey. On Friday night she gave a recital at Alice Tully Hall performing a pleasantly varied program devoted to her mellow, aristocratic instrument.
"The viola literature being somewhat restricted, Miss Lindsay relied primarily on transcriptions of works written for violin (Vitali's Chaconne), cello (Bach's Unaccompanied Suite No. 1) and clarinet (Brahms's Sonata in E flat, Op. 120, No.2, and an. aria from Mozart's “La Clemenza di Tito”). Most of the music Miss Lindsay arranged herself, save for the Brahms Sonata. Origioal viola pieces by Richard Arnell (Partita) and Ralph Vaughan Williams (Suite, Groupe III) rounded out the evening.
"In general, Miss Lindsay handled all this music in an outgoing, even breezy manner that had its attractive qualities. Her tone is uncommonly smooth and rich when pitched properly, and her musical effects are nothing if not direct and eager to please."
My query: Finzi? What say you?

I'm a gigantic fan of banter; always love to hear Carol and Cullan's back-and-forth.
The fine music seals the deal - such a great show!
