Apparently, one night as a wee lad I went to bed when the station signed off. At about 5 in the morning, the star spangled banner blasted at full volume. My mum played her usual villain role.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I always remember hearing some advice on the Theatre from somewhere :
If you forget a line or something goes wrong
...why tell the audience ?
They don't know how it's supposed to be ! Or what goes on behind the curtain...
This is - to be utterly forthcoming - advice I think FMU-Js might well consider.
Be noncommercial & real - & even fail @ things. But I humbly suggest thinking twice before using airtime - & the attentions of all of us - to recursively draw attention to this. To put the fine point on it - if in a hole, consider ceasing to dig deeper ?
Though of course we cherish (I'll allow this word tho some might think it hyperbole) the unpretentious & noncommercial & conversationally human atmosphere of the whole enterprise...
I often think in fact that as a qualification - FMU-Js should be subjected to - say - sitting @ home & in fact listening to - say - three of their own episodes - in their entirety. Every few months or something ...as severe & draconian as this may sound. :D
This after all is what the rest of us are doing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Also hasten to emphasize - for context - that I think of every FMU-J as a World.
& it is a privilege to be exposed to these Worlds.
No one else anywhere gives me (anyhow) exposure to what this Program does.

Wow. Not heard this in eons. Is on a cherry red compilation, and I bought it 1982,3(?). Maybe $2.99. Was it a cut out (didn’t have a cut out), or a cheapy import just to introduce the bands to USandA? Marine Girls were on it, and Attila the Stockbroker. Really opened my eyes

There was some dramatization of QuentinCrisp on PBS ...long long ago. For me an early introduction to ideas of Queerness & seeing around the edges of consensus culture in whatever matters. A sort of more contemporary Oscar Wilde figure I suppose... I'm cisgender & all that - but the defiant intellectual dandy trope resonates with me in some way nonetheless...
