I still miss H & H Bagels, which had a bakery on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. So good and chewy right out of the oven! Whe they went out of business, somebody bought the name. but their bagels are little more than rolls with holes in the middle.

Yeah, I miss the real H&H as well!

It was just down from Zabar's, so the breakfast supplies errand was Zabar's for a pile of Nova (the ace fishcutters working in the store were the key to great salmon), however much cream cheese we might need, and maybe a cherry-cheese strudel... then down to H&H for a bag of bagels maybe still warm from the oven.
