Absolutely delicious. They also have the usual assortment of other items in honey, such as figs, nerolis, sometimes baby eggplant, cherries, and so on. My Mom's favorite was the figs -- she loved them over vanilla ice cream or on a slice of pound cake. I'm very partial to the pergamon.

Sinai is saying that they need the orders first, direct from my doctor's office even though I have a printed copy of the orders in my hand now. They said I "could try" sending it myself via fax or email but they won't schedule it without those orders in. I KNOW that if I ask my doc's office to do this, they will fuck something up. Sigh. In the meantime I can get weed and a pizza in 10 minutes, and I can vote in the EU country of my 2nd passport online in 5 minutes. I hate it here.

Reminds me of the last time I needed a full Level 5 head MRI -- long story but at the time, it was needed for diagnostic reasons. The issue was it was for just a "checkup" for a lifelong condition that I have. I'll never forget working with my neurologist up at Montefiore in the BX. He kept prompting me RE potential "symptoms." Eventually I caught on and he smiled. "This way, I can charge it to research, or insurance won't cover it," he explained. "How much is my copay then?" "Oh, today, you can just go downstairs for that MRI after taking your earrings and medical tag off. $25." "Okay," I asked..."If this was just an exploratory MRI how much would it be if it wasn't covered?" sound of keyboard tapping "Um....$50,000 dollars." I was in SHOCK. I mean, the MRI machine is a sunk cost and there's no way the radiologist was getting that big a cut of the procedure. With my EU passport I could fucking fly to Berlin, RENT AN APARTMENT FOR A YEAR, pay like $100 copay absolute tops (if I wasn't in the tax system for the second-tier "better" German plan) and STILL have money left over for crapping around Berlin for a week. Plus airfare. It's insane. Anyway sorry to be a Debbie Downer but I can't even. I mean, thank G-D I have good insurance. Even with 5-star $$$ insurance, I STILL get warning letters from Sinai and Kettering every year that they're in yet another pissing match with Cigna and may cut ties with them until they strongarm them into better rates (for Cigna). I have a friend who is a teacher in NY and when Kettering was about to get dropped by Cigna, she had to line up a private doc in NJ for her 2x a month infusions for a pre-leukemia syndrome. Basically if she misses one infusion by more than a week or so it's a massive immune backlash and she'll get full blown leukemia and probably die. Now, I used to work at Kettering and dropped a dime to my old boss RE the BlueX sitch. The Sunday night before the new deal with Kettering was announced, right before Xmas, he texted me and said to watch my email and to tell my friend to keep mum but to breathe easy and enjoy Xmas. I never got so many "Praise Jesus" and "bless yous" in a text before. As in she and her husband literally burned candles and made donations in thanks (both Catholic). It's disgusting what we make people go through FOR CARE THEY PAID FOR UP FRONT ALREADY. Rant over. Resume good vibes. Now I'm gonna try emailing those clowns at Kettering my orders and see if anything sticks to the wall.

Absolutely delicious. They also have the usual assortment of other items in honey, such as figs, nerolis, sometimes baby eggplant, cherries, and so on. My Mom's favorite was the figs -- she loved them over vanilla ice cream or on a slice of pound cake. I'm very partial to the pergamon.

Sinai is saying that they need the orders first, direct from my doctor's office even though I have a printed copy of the orders in my hand now. They said I "could try" sending it myself via fax or email but they won't schedule it without those orders in. I KNOW that if I ask my doc's office to do this, they will fuck something up. Sigh. In the meantime I can get weed and a pizza in 10 minutes, and I can vote in the EU country of my 2nd passport online in 5 minutes. I hate it here.

Reminds me of the last time I needed a full Level 5 head MRI -- long story but at the time, it was needed for diagnostic reasons. The issue was it was for just a "checkup" for a lifelong condition that I have. I'll never forget working with my neurologist up at Montefiore in the BX. He kept prompting me RE potential "symptoms." Eventually I caught on and he smiled. "This way, I can charge it to research, or insurance won't cover it," he explained. "How much is my copay then?" "Oh, today, you can just go downstairs for that MRI after taking your earrings and medical tag off. $25." "Okay," I asked..."If this was just an exploratory MRI how much would it be if it wasn't covered?" sound of keyboard tapping "Um....$50,000 dollars." I was in SHOCK. I mean, the MRI machine is a sunk cost and there's no way the radiologist was getting that big a cut of the procedure. With my EU passport I could fucking fly to Berlin, RENT AN APARTMENT FOR A YEAR, pay like $100 copay absolute tops (if I wasn't in the tax system for the second-tier "better" German plan) and STILL have money left over for crapping around Berlin for a week. Plus airfare. It's insane. Anyway sorry to be a Debbie Downer but I can't even. I mean, thank G-D I have good insurance. Even with 5-star $$$ insurance, I STILL get warning letters from Sinai and Kettering every year that they're in yet another pissing match with Cigna and may cut ties with them until they strongarm them into better rates (for Cigna). I have a friend who is a teacher in NY and when Kettering was about to get dropped by Cigna, she had to line up a private doc in NJ for her 2x a month infusions for a pre-leukemia syndrome. Basically if she misses one infusion by more than a week or so it's a massive immune backlash and she'll get full blown leukemia and probably die. Now, I used to work at Kettering and dropped a dime to my old boss RE the BlueX sitch. The Sunday night before the new deal with Kettering was announced, right before Xmas, he texted me and said to watch my email and to tell my friend to keep mum but to breathe easy and enjoy Xmas. I never got so many "Praise Jesus" and "bless yous" in a text before. As in she and her husband literally burned candles and made donations in thanks (both Catholic). It's disgusting what we make people go through FOR CARE THEY PAID FOR UP FRONT ALREADY. Rant over. Resume good vibes. Now I'm gonna try emailing those clowns at Kettering my orders and see if anything sticks to the wall.
