My Dad loved the songs like "Nobody wants to play rhythm guitar behind Jesus (everybody wants to be the lead singer in the band)" I must have heard that song 100 times growing up. They wanted me and my siblings to promote the concert at school and sell tickets, but we were Ramones fans and the whole thing mortified us, we wanted nothing to do with it. The Oak Ridge Boys wound up coming over for Sunday dinner at our house. I remember them sitting at the table, singing a little bit. They were actually very gracious and funny. But we were still mortified. My parents were so upset when they went pop and stopped singing about Jesus. They felt betrayed.

They saw the Oak Ridge Boys in Vermont while on a ski vacation, my father went up and started talking to the band after the show, and next thing he's a concert promoter. My Dad loved the songs like "Nobody wants to play rhythm guitar behind Jesus (everybody wants to be the lead singer in the band)" I must have heard that song 100 times growing up. They wanted me and my siblings to promote the concert at school and sell tickets, but we were Ramones fans and the whole thing mortified us, we wanted nothing to do with it. The Oak Ridge Boys wound up coming over for Sunday dinner at our house. I remember them sitting at the table, singing a little bit. They were actually very gracious and funny. But we were still mortified. My parents were so upset when they went pop and stopped singing about Jesus. They felt betrayed.

They saw the Oak Ridge Boys in Vermont while on a ski vacation, my father went up and started talking to the band after the show, and next thing he's a concert promoter.
