The only soup I'd get in a NY Subway is the soup spilled on me by the guy eating it in the next seat (but you Europeans are SO much more sophisticated and genteel).
Hello Brian (UK), βrian, Andrew (Toronto), David (London), Alex (Downers Grove), Yvang, Sem, Threemoons, doctorjazz, Ken fHP, captain beef fart, Michael 98145, audiolab1, Handy, tim and all!
I thought I couldn't come up with DJ Premiums when I first got the list-now I don't know how to narrow it down (Retro East is definitely on my list). Always bug Joe McGasco after the marathon, to stressful do decide earlier...
Alternating bands of heavy cloudburst, then bright sunshine. One of those 'can't make up its mind' days. But the sun is pouring in through the kitchen window now and looks rather lovely.
It's thankfully starting to warm up here in North Ontario, Canada...the sun has been shining on and off and the multiple feet of snow on the ground is slowly starting to disappear. Come on Spring!
There was an article in Outdoor magazine I randomly came across, I think in a doctor's waiting room, pre-internet days, about the ferret-stuffing competition in the UK. Ferrets being the only four-legged animal that kills for fun, which I learned from the article and have left mentally unchallenged ever since because it makes the story better. And so the record for stuffing ferrets down your trousers was sixty seconds until this rat hunter comes down off the Scottish moors and blows away the competition and the judges and keeps the ferrets down his pants for six hours! At which point the contest was called.
Greetings, David, Tamar, and all the voyagers! Just remembered about Daylight Savings in the U.S. Will be popping in and out today, but looking forward to whatever part of the ride I can join for!
Hippos are also known for killing people, not for fun especially, but if you happen to wander into what they consider their territory, you could be a dead person shortly thereafter.
Pledges of $20 or more will get you in the running to win Lê Almeida's LP Amenidades (Transfusão Noise Records) or El Khat's CD Albat Alawi (Glitterbeat).
I'd wish for that, but I have one more move in my life. I'm hoping to be able to stick it out here in the wilderness until I retire, then that will hopefully be the final move! Such a pain, you have my sympathies, David!
Re relatively. I persist. And you? been meaning to write you again since immediately following my last email (among other things, it occurred to me what you were talking about with "Secret Society"... (duh on me)).
thanks for the shout-out! here's our humble blau show: the last ep, #58, was a music-only special, for all those who are not into obscure scifi talk in german www.fantastische-wissenschaftlichkeit.de...
I meant to thank you for your Kuwait show a few weeks ago. I try to select 5 or 6 shows to distribute my humble contributions amongst, and that inspired my pledge to your show this time. One more to go.
I do recall a tv presenter years ago introducing 'zed zed top' on UK TV, but that was a one off - most, if not all (on Top of the Pops etc), just said 'zee zee top'
i think i used an emoji once, as a joke.
i do, nonetheless, understand that my intentions are very often misunderstood and that that could be remedied (remediosed?) by using emojis.
Yeah, me neither. Though I don't have any context where they'd really come up.
I sometimes have to responsibly internet search ones that people deploy in the chat. "I know they probably don't *mean* 'ElfQuest sending star,' but what *else* could it be?!"
A quick skim of internet sources suggests that the "zee" pronunciation variant in the U.S. was solidified via Noah Webster's effort to Americanize the English language used in the U.S. and the alphabet song copyrighted in 1835 that uses "zee" to rhyme with the other "ee" letters.
I think you'd be able to pledge by phone, but it wouldn't be credited to the Drummer Stream Show (if that's what you want to do). I'm not sure why the box at the top of the page wouldn't take your credit card-PayPal is an option, if you use it, or, as Handy said, you can straighten out the bill later. (I use "send me a bill" all the time, also useful if you have Swag For Life and you're divvying it up over different shows.
I'm an Android user-I often go to the web page on my phone web browser. you get the same button/widget at the top of the page and can donate that way on the phone as well (works fine on my Samsung).
Ok, so 1% of that is 17K, and if we're at 73% then we're 2% shy of 75%, and 2x17K = 34K. Of course the real number may be lower because we're probably at 73 point something...
Bandcamp generally includes a download with physical media you purchase there (used to be many LPs would have a little card inside that gave you a site and code for a download of the album, but I haven't been seeing that recently).
David's fabulous premium CD this year is Retro East: Songs of the 1970s and early 1980s, one each from 19 Eastern bloc nations. Yours for a pledge of $75 or more. No contest necessary!
John von Neumann said "Anyone who attempts to generate random numbers by deterministic means is, of course, living in a state of sin" but that's why we have gadgets like this www.idquantique.com...
There was apparently a Kickstarter for "smart" dice that can connect to an app and to online tabletop platforms so that when you roll it in meatspace, it has a voice that will speak in the app or platform to say what you rolled. The Kickstarter went waaaaaaay over time, and only the d6s have been shipped, and some of my friends have them and use them, and I am just *extremely* dubious of their actual randomness. But they're a mate an' all, so what can ye do?
Relying on that, trusting it, and even using it is still a big problem. (Even removing the barriers of cost and digesting the white papers. --- this things still add up to "big problem" imho
you're welcome!
the actual spelling is mvto ('v' representing a schwa sound like the 'u' in 'understand'), but the muscogee (or mvskoke) orthography is a little unusual
Nope. I don't really do TV. Last show I watched was the X-Files. There are so many channels and shows now, I can't keep up with 'em. But I'm sure there's tons of great stuff I'm missing.
Haven't seen the home studios of other DJs, but UM's we get to see when he's broadcasting, you get that with UM (though I think you can actually adopt the studio separately).
Good point, "why should I trust this device" is a valid question. I remember the old RNG based on lava lamps, now that I would trust without reading a whitepaper! en.wikipedia.org...
