I'm of Irish decent, but the Gaelic language is baffling to me. We were never taught it, even tho my high school mascot was the "Celts."

Seems your grandmother had Irish roots that were important to her. Was she born in Ireland?

My grandparents on my mother's side were both born in Ireland. My great grandfather founded a whiskey distillery called Locke's, which is strangely owned by the Japanese now.

My mother was born here but lived briefly in Ireland several times as a child. Back in august, she returned to Ireland for the first time since the early 80s (it was my dad's first time there). On the second to last night of her stay there, she had a weird dream about her father. The next day she got the call that her father died at 98. My grandmother was at late stage dementia and was likely unaware that he passed.

Very happy to hear this at last. On my birthday to boot, which turned out even worse than ever: I missed a dance show because my landlord had me take a day off for a contractor who never showed up. Came home at 2am (bus trouble), was up at 6am, what a great day!

Well, that sucks! And it's not right - Don't know how it works in France, but here, it's the landlord's responsibility to wait for the contractor. I'm a landlord, and I either have to wait myself, or check with the tenants to see if the contractor can enter on his own.

I've looked at Wikipedia for both Farrell and Dale and I sorta know the "One Toke" song from Brewer & Shipley. Don't see any Irish connections.
From wikipedia page for the song:
The song was performed in early 1971 by Gail Farrell and Dick Dale on The Lawrence Welk Show, which Brewer credited with giving the duo "more publicity than we could pay for." Welk described the song as a "modern spiritual"

How did this song get selected for today's playlist?
