The internet on a desktop or laptop did not do that for me in the 2000s but my use of smartphones starting in 2014 has done some damage to me. I was checking a book earlier this evening at a bookstore by the famous Vietnmaese Zen Master Thich Nach Hanh and I was thinking the same...We have forgotten to have mindful and meaningful interactions and conversations. We have forgotten to focus on our breathing, on developing and nurturing friendships. I yearned to go back to a time where that was easier to do.
