Downtown Soulville was my WFMU gateway drug! Making bunny themed cupcakes for a kid party tomorrow! Nothing better to be doing and listening to on a cozy Friday night.

hiya Matt New Orleans! I'm continuing to read a book about a specific 10 years of De Palma films, and hope to watch a few this weekend. Obsession and Sisters, possibly Dressed to Kill.

De Palma is the man! What's the book titled? sounds great, I would love to read more about him, though I still haven't finished The Devil's Candy.

Fun Fact: Steven Sayadian, best known as the director of cult/porn movies such as Cafe Flesh, as well as just plain cult movies Dr Caligari (on Shudder, at last check) and album covers and videos for Wall Of Voodoo, did the iconic poster art for Dressed To Kill screenanarchy.com...

That was one of my first DePalma's as a kid, along with Blow Out and Body Double

Carrie is indeed covered in the book, it's the chapter I'm on. I read the King novel for the first time last year. Saw the De Palma movie (many) years ago. Can't recall if I ever saw the remake.

His is the best Carrie, but no one has ever made the end as tragic as it should be, as it is in the novel (King's best, in my opinion)

Oh and I read a book that Brian De Palma wrote "Are Snakes Necessary?", that's from a few years ago.

Oh wow The De Palma Decade sounds perfect, I find his whole trajectory as a film maker really interesting, esp when he was on a roll in the 80s.

I should probably post something soul 45 related so here goes -- I found Monk Higgins 45 'Extra Soul Perception' but I procured for the flip, a cover of Watermelon Man. Can't really go wrong with Watermelon Man covers.
