WFMU = Beatles + Stones + Wine!!! EFD You hereby replace "Donna Summer as Soooooooo My Favorite DJ"
  11:03pm
efd:

glad you're out there, Droll... i would have hated to waste this fine April Wine selection
  11:07pm
HotRod:

Now that's a compliment, Droll!!!
  11:10pm

  11:17pm
Laurie:

Great, now I have fly to North Carolina and kill Randy. THANKS, EFD!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11:17pm
Droll:

Guffaw! Everyone loves April Wine, right?

HotRod -- EFD earned it. DS/JF had to play Tarkus to get the title back around 2002. There's still a "Notes Per Show" title JF holds I don't think anyone will ever come close to breaking, so he'll always be in the Pantheon of Greats.
  11:20pm
Randy in NC:

laurie, go to www.berkshireradio.org and look at what their fundraising premium is...
  11:20pm
Amanda:

Ha ha! E.L., you are hip so you ordered the Nothing People album. I, behind the times, ordered a Piper CD this week.

It is very nice to see you all again.
  11:21pm
efd:

aww, it's so nice to see everyone here!
  11:22pm
Laurie:

I ordered a shitload of Jewish music from Tzadik for Doddy. Also, a Preston Sturges DVD from Criterion Collection.
  11:23pm
Laurie:

PS: LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the Baskervilles.
  11:23pm
dave:

is it me, or is the CD mix of 'where did my summer go' different than the download version? as if i needed another reason to buy the baskervilles album...
  11:24pm
toni daytona/one tanned blonde:

  11:26pm
E.L.:

Amanda - I'm actually constantly on a quest to be hip and finding myself one step behind another Evan we know.
  11:26pm
E.L.:

Thank You!!!!!
  11:27pm
Amanda:

Tell me about it. Except I find myself a step behind Harry Harrison, weirdly.
  11:29pm

EFD COMMANDS AND I OBEY (SQUEEEALFEEDBACK)

RANDOM ACCESS FACTOR
  11:48pm
jim:

hey i heard a song earlier, a guy was drinking and it was a stream-of-consciousness type of song, he kept rambling. was about 45 mins. ago, what was the name of that?
  11:51pm
Miss Buxley's Batty Neice Doris:

hi EFD....it is always such a BFD to hear you......Did you see any movies over the weekend? I did. I went to see Adam Sandler's Zohan film. It was too intellectual for me. Too much foreigh polittics stuff for my liking. So I left early. I took my popcorn hime and watched my Family Guy DVD set I got for my birthday, that and my CDR set of every Seven Second Delay ever archived. Well have a great one EFD and if you find any Ambrosia or Rupert Holmes or Air Supply or Mac Dre in your collection please play some.
  11:51pm
Laurie:

Does It Offend You, Yeah?
  11:51pm
Laurie:

I WIN!!!!!
  11:53pm
shankara:

Thanks for waking me up bro,
peace from oregon
  11:54pm
E.L.:

I think I know Doris. Laurie, congrats.
  11:55pm
chippey:

It is a bad name.
They should be call themselves, "You like the Faint, yeah?"

I like them though.
  11:55pm
toni d.:

evan--why the silent treatment?? =(
  11:58pm
Miss Buxley's Batty Neice Doris:

yes Evan, why? why? why so silent? we need your attention....please play some Huey Lewis for Toni d and me.....that's some real new wave alternative
  12:01am
efd:

alright, let's settle down with the Toni D business.
Laurie, good call!
Jim, that song was on Scott's show (right before mine) - you can check his playlist at http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/27526
Chippey - the hell of it is I like them too, I just can't deal with the name
Shankara - glad I could wake you up!
  12:08am
Droll:

April Wine: Check. (Reformed) Comma Abuse(r): Check. Miscued Reverb: Check. Looks like we still need a 33 played at 45 and . o O (Wait for it.... Wait for it....) TICKET!
  12:16am
j:

Hurrah!

Went to a show there I think in '79 0r '80.

Saw "Human Sexual Response".

I think I ate some kind of Window as well.

Amazing experience. That was such a 'strange' location for a happening club.
  12:20am
mila kunis fan:

well time to sign off evan,,but i'm still listenin to the show, thanks for sticking up for my friend toni daytona. see you next tuesday.luv ya
  12:21am
efd:

hey, I saw Human Sexual Response at Hurrah too! No window eating, though.
I loved that place, it was far and away my favorite club back in my college days of yore.
  12:28am
efd:

(this is the part where Laurie points out that we're talking about things that happened before she was born)
  12:29am
Amanda:

BURN!
  12:31am
Laurie:

Oh snaps!

That was just one show!

PS: I was playing an UNO simulacrum on Facebook, and some wisenheimer told me I was too old to play that game and that I should have kids or something to look after.

I'm 25!!
  12:33am
Laurie:

Next time someone a/s/l's me on a facebook application, I am going to tell them 47/m/outside your window. F'reals.
  12:34am
j:

It was February. Snow turning to sleet.

Bohemians (hipsters) still lived in the Earle Hotel and the Chelsea.

We knew the Pyramid and Holiday.

A club on 60th & Broadway?!?!

We grow old ...
  12:42am
toni d.:

whoooooohooooooooo i just heard my name!!! thank evan----YOU ROCK!!!!
  12:42am
Randy in NC:

I really liked Hurrahs too. It was so clean and spacious compared to the downtown places. Among the shows I saw there, the Specials, Pere Ubu, James White,...
  12:43am
Randy in NC:

Others lost in the haze of time among other things.
  12:46am
Droll:

Laurie, I'm sure that game is recommended for ages 8 and OVER. Tell Mr Wisenheimer if you had kids you'd end up playing Uno with them anyways.
I prefer the non-threatening WFMU web site which doesn't do "Emoticons" or require my parent's permission.
  12:48am
efd:

Randy, do you know this band (The Dawgs)? They're from the north shore...
  12:50am
Laurie:

To be fair, this application was on Facebook before they opened up the floodgates for toddlers and plebes. It used to be just us scholars procrastinating!
  12:52am
E.L.:

I still play Uno, just not online. I didn't know online Uno existed— but I have techno-phobia. I always liked it because it was a good humored revenge game. I also will admit that I just bought a new edition Hungry Hungry Hippos and it's still fun.
  12:55am
Randy in NC:

No I don't. I moved away from the Hub to LI when I was in Jr High.
  1:01am
Laurie:

A band has a mySpace page?!?!interrobang. Color me shocked, efd.
  1:02am
C:

Wow. There was a label in Malden? I'm from the next town over.
  1:08am
E.L.:

Thumbs up on the Herriman comics reference, Mr. Davies. Best ever!
  1:08am
efd:

C, would that be Medford?

Laurie, I guess I should be used to it by now but it still throws me when I google these seemingly obscure bands and see that they have a myspace page even though they've been dormant for 20-whatever years.
  1:11am
Randy in NC:

efd Cosmop's do don't they?
  1:11am
Laurie:

EFD, The Golden Dawn have a mySpace page. Remember "George Hamilton's Dead"?
  1:11am
Droll:

Hello Soundpool! I didn't know someone still makes new shoegazer!
  1:12am
C:

Nah, Wakefield. I guess it's technically 2 towns over.
  1:14am
Laurie:

Oh balls, now I can't find the real Golden Dawn mySpace, only some lame neo-psych band from Texas.
  1:15am
Amanda:

Neko Case, you can do no wrong!
  1:15am
Laurie:

Aaaaaaand I found it: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=50245689
  1:19am
efd:

E.L., I can't take credit for that reference - Brian had it in his blurb.
Randy, you're right about the Cosmops but that was occasioned by a CD release
Droll, that Soundpool album is good - more coming from that in future weeks
Laurie, thanks - I'll check the Golden Dawn page out!
  1:23am
E.L.:

Well... your Myspace profile photo is still Tintin. That more than makes up for it.
  1:24am
Randy in NC:

Von Hayes, Phillies, I knew that name sounded familiar.
  1:26am
Amanda:

E.L.'s switching his MySpace avatar to the Punisher, I think. Whooah!
  1:27am
ADM:

Diesen Deutscher rap ist hilaaaarious. VHY? It's zupa.
  1:27am
ADM:

Apparently there is a lot of Polish rap out there. I saw some music videos when I was in Warsaw.
  1:27am
Laurie:

This guy sounds like Zoolander. F'real.
  1:29am
mike:

Hello Evan from the UK - the xberg dhirty6 cru track is 'super, super, super'
  1:30am
ADM:

Veal Cutlet!!!
  1:31am
Droll:

Dude, my Interweb radio set is broken. It's all German sounding. Can you check the transmitter?
  1:35am
efd:

das transmitter ist werkfining.
  1:36am
efd:

ADM, Mike - thanks for checking in, glad I could help make your nite Zuper!
  1:46am
ADM:

The pleasure is all mine EFD! May you ever shine like Neil Diamond!
  1:55am
E.L.:

Great show, efd. See you next...uh...week.
  1:56am
efd:

thanks Evan and everyone! See you next Tuesday!
  1:56am
Randy in NC:

Tuesday
  1:57am
Droll:

EFD, I can't wait to see how you try to defend your title next week. See [sic] you Tuesday.
  1:58am
efd:

well it won't be with April Wine, that's for sure!
  2:00am
Droll:

Guffaw! Everyone loves April Wine!
There's plenty of arena rock beneath April Wine for you to plumb.
  5:33pm
Paul PDX:

other FM Knives fun fact: guitarist from FM Knives is now in the Mayyors and the drummer is in the English Singles
  3:56pm
Rick Ele:

And the singer from the FM Knives is in a band called Photobooth.
