A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Tom (The Bactrian Support Network):

Nice Nina Simone opener !! First number you play (and the rest of show too) , but first one I am like sitting in my chair just wondering every Tuesday morning ..! Bonjour !! .. Comment Allez-Vous??
  9:20am
Bad Ronald:

Howdy Folks!
  9:22am
Negator:

Poco? Now I know why they call you "Trouble". YEAH!
  9:24am
Negator:

You know, there's a Poco record in every thrift store in this great nation? Fact.
  9:25am
Bad Ronald:

the one with the drawing of a horse on the cover?
  9:27am
gumby:

Did someone say Pokie? I'm gonna catch that horse if I can.
  9:28am
Parq:

Poco evokes another time so powerfully that just saying the name makes me feel like it's a quarter century ago.
  9:29am
gumby:

Is that ptchouli & weed smoke I smell?
  9:31am
gumby:

This is definately the sadest song ever written.
  9:32am
Bad Ronald:

Sadder than "Ode to Billy Joe"?
  9:33am
KapoStrano:

Tell Me More and Then Some. All roads lead through Nina Simone and, speaking of Billie Holliday, are you going to play any Prez today? You know it was Lester Young's birthday yesterday.

Love ya, trouble!
  9:36am
gumby:

Happy belated b-day Prez!
BR - His beer bucket has hole in it, he can't buy no beer!!!!!! That's a tradgedy,
  9:38am
Bad Ronald:

Gotcha Gumby - I now concur!
  9:40am
gumby:

Mingus's "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" would be an appropriate Prez salute. Not that you need help Trouble, your selections are always The Picks that Click!
BR - He did seem happy though, maybe he's on the wagon.
  9:42am
55fps:

Lady Gumby, isn't 'Pork Pie' a tribute to Eric Dolphy?
  9:45am
Bad Ronald:

It seems he's on the running board of a Ford with his baby...
  9:46am
Charles Mingus:

"Goodbye Porkpie Hat" is indeed a tribute to Prez. You may be thinking of "So Long Eric."
  9:46am
gumby:

I ain't no lady, I'm his wife!
I dunno, I thought that was for Lester. it's a good tune anywho. I'm diggin' this crazy horn number too!
  9:48am
gumby:

Prez is in da joint!!!!!!
  9:54am
gumby:

Mingus!!! We thought you was dead.
  9:56am

  10:02am
gumby:

Top 'o the Mornin' lm.
  10:03am
Adrian in London:

I'm listening to this at my Mac wearing light blue earphones, which I had to buy at lunchtime after my black ones gave up the ghost. They look like something My Little Pony would wear. Maybe I should have gone all out and bought the pink ones?
  10:11am
gumby:

I wouldn't sweat it Adrian if there in your ears you can't see them. But fashion is not my forte. Plaids & stripes whooo-hooo!
  10:12am
fishmonkeystew:

Here's another vote for Goodbye Porkpie Hat! Mingus for the win!! Good morning, Trouble.
  10:13am
gumby:

Listen to me? Four or five coffees and I'm Dear Abbie.
  10:15am
55fps:

When did Wire get back together. Who's in it?
  10:15am
John Prine:

Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
Well I never thought
That me and my girlfriend would ever get caught
We were sitting in the back seat just shooting the breeze
With her hair up in curlers and her pants to her knees
Signed Just Married
Just Married, Just Married...
  10:18am
gumby:

John you are what you are and you ain't what you ain't,
  10:20am
Dear Abby:

Pardon me, I think I'm gumby.
  10:22am
GP:

  10:22am
trouble:

  10:23am
GP:

STA..hmmmm, I think I meant "steal"
  10:25am
Adrian in London:

I know, someone nicked the 'e' and the 'l'. Loved that Silver Summit track Trouble
  10:25am
GP:

Trouble, what are you seeing that we aren't? Do you have something like the 5 sec delay where you can kill comments before they can burn into our eyes?
  10:29am
trouble:

i have the magical power of delete and I have used it this morning...so yes your lovely eyes have not seen all that has transpired. and it is not cool...
  10:30am
Derek:

My curiosity is killing me. I'm dying to know what's "not keeping cool"...
  10:30am
55fps:

I managed to catch it and you're right Trouble, totally uncool!
  10:31am
GP:

  10:36am
?:

I am corn-fused! what is not cool here??
  10:43am
gumby:

Speaking of birds. A hummingbird came up to about a foot from my face this morning, then hung there staring straight at me, then flew off. Now that was cool!
  10:44am
Steve:

Hi Trouble!
Still listening - Still loving :)
What is it that you teach?
  10:45am
dc pat:

you're lucky he didn't bite you...
  10:45am
listener mark:

back to school for the smaller DJs
  10:50am
gumby:

dc I know there aggressive, but I'm faster. Ha-Ha
  10:50am
Carmichael:

Good morning, everyone. Nothin like walking in on a Poco conversation an hour later.

I have that horse drawing tattooed on my shoulder. One of my all-time faves, and I'm pleasantly surprised to have had the chance to hear it on WFMU.

Sonny Burgess, too .... Damn, I have to get up earlier.
  10:53am
GP:

I like this Caroline song She sounds a little like Bjork.
  10:54am
dc pat:

I've been seeing a lot more humming birds lately. Maybe things are getting juicier and sweeter?//
  10:58am
GP:

We can only hope dc pat, we can only hope....your comment placed the image of moldy peaches into my mind....which, while not only being almost too sweet, would also be great to hear right now...hint hint.
  10:59am
Adrian in London:

I thought Caroline sounded like Stina Nordenstam, which can only be good. Unless you're Stuart Staples, of course.
  11:01am
gumby:

they seem to like our Rose of Sharons, although this one was by a rose bush. I used to put up the feeder, but someone told me that the sugar water ferments to form alcohol and the hummingbirds become addicted, so I stopped. I just had a plum, it was good, not moldy.
  11:02am
Harvey:

Do DJs get offended by requests in the comment section?
  11:04am
listener mark:

Had some nice organic pears from Woodstock flea market. Didn't buy any fleas
  11:07am
gumby:

Two good words about Fall. Seckles Pears!!!! YUM!!!!
  11:09am
trouble:

harvey i don't get offended, but i can't always accomodate requests due to time or taste constraints. but request away...
  11:09am
Carmichael:

They probably get offended by comments in the comments section.
  11:09am
gumby:

Speaking of bugs. Did anyone see in Beijing where they have a market to sell crickets for fighting contests. They could get a mess around my house right now.
  11:13am
Bad Ronald:

"Psycho" by Jack Kittel would be cool...
  11:14am
gumby:

Painted up, Powdered up, Bad Country Chicks rule!
  11:18am
GP:

Michele..M E O W ! Yea baby....( trying to do my best Austin Powers imitation which would be embarrassing if seen any where else other than on the radio!)
  11:20am
Harvey:

Ah, I was just wondering. By the way, during that esser track I was thinking, "Boy, this sounds like Loser!"
  11:20am
listener mark:

TERMITES!
  11:21am
GP:

BECK!!!@@!!! I believer the term is " SWEET" Nice choice ...Trouble
  11:23am
JJZ:

Ah, I love Thunder Road.
  11:23am
Carmichael:

Dick Curless, "Chick Inspector". The most politically incorrect trucker song in history. I think you all would heartily enjoy it.
  11:24am
?:

Thunder Road!

I just watched the movie last night. COINCIDENCE??
  11:26am
gumby:

  11:47am
Laurel:

Any ladies gonna be left once Joe Belock comes on? hahaha
  11:47am
Carmichael:

Or "Hey Playgirl".
  11:48am
Adrian in London:

  11:49am
victoria:

Joe B is one of my faves!
  11:49am
Bad Ronald:

Don't sweat it Laurie we still love you!

  11:50am
Laurie:

Adrian: We can't all be classy like Boris.
  11:51am
Carmichael:

Boris Johnson?!? HA HA ....
  11:51am

  11:53am
Bad Ronald:

longinisafest in Manilla!
  11:53am
Adrian in London:

Oh, the horror. Where to begin with Boris. People were being chucked in jail left right and centre in China and they let that idiot go free. On behalf of London, and I am truly sorry. But at least you don't have to live here with him "in charge" Laurie!
  11:56am
Carmichael:

Let's not get started about our own leader, Adrian.
  11:57am
Laurie:

No, I just had to spend eight years in a country under the "leadership" of George W. Bush. Boris > Dubya, surely?

And was Ken Livingston really so bad that Boris looked like the better option? Did people vote for Boris because of his hair? Did they really hate those congestion charges that much?
  11:58am
owen:

ken was also rubbish. 9 billion pounds on an olympics anyone? who needs hospitals, eh?
  11:58am
Parq:

Speaking of cultural linguistic glitches, they just had the Tomato Festival in Spain. Imagine if someone in the US said to you, "Let's go out and find a bunch of nice tomatos and whack hell out of them."
  11:58am
Lady Rachael:

yay
  11:59am
Bad Ronald:

Would you consider life under the current administration a BushFest?
  11:59am
Harvey:

Well, my hat is off to the freeform ladies. The world could use more like you.
  11:59am
PG:

Mayor of London isn't terribly powerful anyway.
  12:00pm
Bad Ronald:

Wonderful Eno tune thanks Trouble!
  12:02pm
Adrian in London:

People voted against Ken as a way of attacking the hopeless Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who's from the same party. And hey, Ken brought the Tour de France to London! Great show, Trouble!
  3:38pm
Chris:

Trouble, best set in a long long long time.

They're all amazing by the way, but this one hit home
  11:11am
terry:

It's not hard to understand,Trouble.
The rich girl was cheered for the same reason that all the celebrities in Hollywood are made so much of everytime one has a kid. Like its so hard to get preggers.
Hollywood glorifies mommyhood so politics is no different.
