A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Sarah Palin answers her critics: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/61410aa4ff
  10:29am
Laurie:

Oh, an awesome thing happened! On this messageboard, this troll said something truly vile regarding the news that Wasilla, under Palin, made rape victims pay for their rape kits and would not reimburse them. This creep said, "They can decline the rape kit if they want." And people called him on his bs, and it got worse with each comment he made. He implied that people tax payers shouldn't pay for criminal investigations and that firefighters were once a private enterprise, and blah blah blah. So, one person posted a screencap after they made a donation to the Obama campaign essentially in this douchebag's name. More and more people made contributions. Within two hours, $1,350 had been donated to the Obama campaign. Overnight, over $1,500 had been donated.

I love it.

I don't think people really understand how ass backwards this country really is. I am legitimately fearful that they the Republicans are going to steal this election again. All the moms with their pregnant teen daughters at home might give her the sympathy vote. Black, white but not Hispanic

middlesister:

A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.....Is this what will happen the day after Obama is elected? Hope so.
  11:28am
Swaim:

awesome show. Nana jamz.
  11:30am
Ike:

No, instead Diebold and Rove and the oil companies will install Palin as president, and she'll spew out more children onto the Oval Office desk while declaring America a theocracy and making Iran look like Denmark. And shooting moose. And lecturing us in that Marge Gunderson accent. All at the same time.

Mark my words. She's Reagan in lipstick. The U.S. is doomed.
  11:32am
listener55:

You betcha, ya.
  11:33am
GP:

Ike,
You had me at "Marge Gunderson accent"
  11:33am
Parq:

Well, as Gail Collins points out today, anything involving "moose" is funny, and there's no way out of it. And Ike, you're obviously calling Reagan a pig, and that's just depolorable. He was, after all, a horse's, um, wait a minute . . .
  11:33am
stingy d:

voter wipeouts are happenign already in arizon, ohio, florida and others, in mass!! watch out fellers

Was Reagan worse than Bush?

I can't decide.

Oh, loons.... how I miss them. I just spent a week in Maine and there was a loon family on the pond. And a visitor loon that spent some time with the two.
  11:35am
concerned expat:

Diebold is now "Premier Election Solutions" so don't let the name on your electronic vote changing machine fool ya.
  11:36am
Parq:

And Grub, no, its not going to be close enough to necessitate the GOP cheat tactics of the past two elections. Look, someone might as well say it in so many words: PLENTY OF VOTERS WILL VOTE GOP BECAUSE THE DEM'S CANDIDATE IS A BLACK GUY.
  11:36am
north guinea hills:

(hurricane) Ike, i fear there is merit to your words.....

however, she reagan how more experience and showed more awareness of knowledge of foreign affairs then palin. and although reagan pandered to the religious right, he wasn't overtly religious himself (W is more openly religious). it's a scary, scary world when i defend reagan when compared to palin. jesus fuck, FSM help us all!!!
  11:36am
lil' bobby:

We've always been doomed....we're born on an indian burial ground in a country that wages war over fossil fuel yet doesn't believe in evolution. It 'll get sillier and scarier yet.I'm going swimming.

History Class by OK magazine.
Reagan loved jellybeans, whilst Mr. Bush 1 was renowned for vomiting on Japanese gentlemen. Mr. Clinton had trouble with his vas deferens, and Bush 2 no longer drinks beer, although America is dying to have a beer with him!

{country that wages war over fossil fuel yet doesn't believe in evolution.}

{Bush 2 no longer drinks beer, although America is dying to have a beer with him! }

These are both great points, btw. I will be stealing both for my own future rants, um, discourse.
  11:40am
Laurie:

Whatever, I wish that bitch would stop referring to her husband as Rick Schroeder. It's RICKY SCHROEDER. Don't you know your own husband's given name, girl?

Also, I'm glad I don't have to look at that dude's stupid little square glasses. They looked like kiddie frames.
  11:40am

God, that first note. (tear)

  11:42am
Grubbus:

OBAMA's Black?
  11:43am
Jenniqua:

What a great song. I too am a "Little Girl Blue [party]" believing in pixie dust and crossing my fingers, picking up lucky pennies in hopes of democrats winning the election. I did recently watch the movie IDIOCRACY which takes place 500 years in the future, though it is looking like the present.

Now it's time to click my heels three times.
  11:43am
Mickey Mephistopheles:

Another factor regarding Obama losing support (at least my support):

Honestly, what would the difference in agendas be between Clinton and Obama? They're still both corporate whores, and neither one of them will end the war. Add drug czar Joe Biden to the ticket and my support evaporates. My vote's going for Cynthia McKinney unless there are significant changes. Sorry.
  11:44am
middle sister:

how many republicans have ever heard Nina Simone? It would be a better world.
  11:44am

  11:46am

I respectfully disagree. I think a black man could beat a white man in an election for president. It depends on the individual candidates, of course, as with an "all white" race. It is a factor, but racism alone will not decide the election.

If all the GOP had to do was point out that Obama was an Afro-American, then we wouldn't have to listen all their other hysterical rantings regarding Obama, liberals, 9/11, etc.

What happened to "we have nothing to fear, but fear itself", America?
  11:51am

glen campbell covering travis.... very odd

Karl Rove's retirement project: resurrect Frank Capra to direct The Life Of Sarah Palin
  11:54am
Ike:

Mickey, that's what I thought in 2000: "Bush = Gore, so whatever, I'm going third-party." We know how that turned out. At least the Dems are merely disappointing, not actively vicious, and don't start (as many) random horrible wars for no reason. Or try to let more arsenic into our drinking water. As for drugs, blame the ignorant masses for making sane drug policies politically unfeasible. Just eat chocolate instead of doing drugs.
  11:57am
north guinea hills:

damn, one of those rare moments when steve miller seems so right!!!!! nice!
  11:57am
GP:

Trouble, is this from your personal MP3 player?
  11:58am
Jenniqua:

I am so mad that they used Fly Like an Eagle for the U.S. post office.
  11:58am
Parq:

Lucky, from your mouth to God's ears, but I doubt it. May I respectfully point out that the GOP doesn't *have* to remind voters that the Dem's candidate is a black guy. They can stay above the fray, chide the Dems every time they bring up on the issue, and sit back and count on what they know human nature to be.
  11:59am
stingy d:

the petra haden, miss murgatorid is on vinyl???!?!?!!!!!!! are you saying that???
  12:00pm

Another great morning with you, Miss T. Bye all.
  8:42pm
trouble:

sorry to mislead, the time thing on the 'accu' playlist isn't so accu...the steve miller is vinyl, not the miss murgatroid, that was a cd.
  12:40pm
Barry:

The reason the bayou is not regenerating on its own is because we have forced the mississippi to run down one channel and we dredge that channel. If the mississippi were allowed to silt up and then change channels it would over time spray across the delta like sprinkler and would renew (resilt) an area of the bayou then move on - of course there a lot of docks and infrastructure that would soon no longer be on the mississippi. We even know where the next channel would be - as the mississippi has already tried to jump into it despite of all our dredging and levies.
