Listener comments!

  11:06pm
Joe:

Where was this song when I was 13?!
  11:07pm
john:

It's been nearly a year, but, yes, folks, it's the Triumphant Return of Rockin' Henry Gross!
  11:10pm
Laurie:

I love this ABBA song!
  11:11pm
Charles:

Me too Laurie!
  11:11pm
Sybil:

from Graham Parker to... Abba?
  11:12pm
cheri:

hiya evan--did you like the superbowl?? i only watched the half time show,, i think abba is the devil's music,=)
  11:14pm
Jan Coztás.:

The new Marked Men album is great. Maybe even better than Fix My Brain.
  11:17pm
john:

I'm sure it's just me, and I LIKE this Pains Of Etc record, but I can't help thinking "Finally, a decent C86 tribute band."
  11:18pm
cheri:

so efd did you do anything special besides the superbow this week??
  11:20pm
efd:

john - not that there's anything wrong with that!
jan - haven't seen/heard the new Marked Men, but I'll keep an eye out for sure - I loved Fix My Brain.
cheri - sure, I liked the super bowl fine. We'll have to agree to disagree about Abba.
Sybil, Laurie, Charles, Joe - hi!

OK, 7 minute song is about 2/3rds over, time to figure out what to play next.
  11:20pm
Joe:

As someone who -just- finally listened to C86, john, I am in complete agreement with you.
  11:23pm
john:

EFD--Exactly! I'd urge all new bands to be mandatorily issued a copy of The Subway Organisation comp CD. I'd bet someone in that group owns it.
  11:23pm
Sybil:

I loved Trent's comments yesterday about the superbowl, which I'm sure I can't recreate here.

Basically, "I enjoyed watching those two sporting teams. There was a lot of stuff happening. Sometimes there isn't so much happening."

I actually have the Pink Parker in pink vinyl. I am that way.
  11:24pm
HotRod:

Thanks for the tunes...
  11:24pm
efd:

ironically, my Pink Parker is a promo -- so it's not pink. Boo-ya!

There was a guy at the party I was at who was saying, "Go, game!" Kind of how I felt.
  11:26pm
cheri:

evan if you have THE CAKE cd on hand could you play a tune,,,thanx efd
  11:26pm
john:

At about the three hour mark I was yelling at myself "Go, home!" What I'll never get about football is why they invariably wait until the fourth quarter to start playing.
  11:31pm
Jessica:

I'm not going out in that, either. FYI.
  11:31pm
Jessica:

[hyuck]
  11:35pm
Pete:

EFD

Marked Men have a new record called "GHOSTS" on Dirtnap released a week ago
  11:45pm
E.L.:

I "lucked out" last week and wound up with a show day for my first class. It may happen again this week. Are teachers supposed to root for snow days?
  11:45pm
Billy Jam:

Farms in Berkeley? Abba on WMFU? Hells yeah......Hey EFD - good show as always - greetings from Cali where I am doing WFMU remote this Friday....with lots O guests....see UPCOMING on wfmu, org for details
  11:49pm
Amanda:

I just came home, turned the radio on before my coat was even off, and heard: "THE PARTY STARTS NOW!"

This gladdened me a bit.
  11:50pm
cheri:

you can't play THE CAKE 2nite evan?
  11:50pm
HotRod:

Hey Amanda!
  11:52pm
Fredrik:

THIS SHOW IS SO AWESOME TONIGHT IT'S ROCKIN' M' FUGGIN TEETH OUT!!!
  11:52pm
cheri:

hiya wuzzzzzup hotrod!!!!!!
  11:53pm
efd:

sorry Cheri, no Cake tonight.

Hi HotRod, hi Amanda! That was a good song to come home to. Now, get your mp3 recording machine ready for later...
  11:55pm
efd:

hey Billy, thanks for checking in from Cali! (that goes for you too, Jessica) and hi, E.L.!
  11:59pm
cheri:

evan i need your opinion--do think i have bad taste in music??
  12:00am
C:

EVERYONE has good taste in music!
  12:01am
Amanda:

Hi hi everybunny! HotRod, you have to come up and visit again soon!

I am relieved to know the youth of America are in good hands with E.L. as their teacher.

mp3 recording machine? Are we living in the future?
  12:11am
E.L.:

I was writing an email while I was listening and I thought you said "Me And My Arrow," EFD. My cat would love 16.

Don't worry Amanda, I'll be fired in no time.
  12:14am
cheri:

yall have a wonderfull week,,,,g'nite, ohh efd please be kind when answering my question,,,thnx again=)=)=)
  12:16am
Joe:

This guy sounds like the guy from Cold War Kids, except I want to punch him less. Of course, I don't know what he looks like.
  12:18am
Jessica:

the what What WHAT, Billy Jam?
I have a pile of creepy things to attend to, Friday, which should be wrapped up right about then-ish.
Mmm, I smell antidote-to-creepy-things.
  12:18am
Amanda:

oh man....
  12:19am
efd:

E.L., I'd like to hear 16 covering "Me and My Arrow."

Amanda, now it makes sense, right?
  12:21am
Billy Jam:

hey jessica - have been sending you invites to Friday's Oak-Town remote since last week......IF you think you can make it email me at billyjam at wfmu dot org for location info....And if U cant make it - no worries - will be back in Da Yay again real soon....HEY EFD thanks for allowing me to use your COMMENTS as an avenue of communicaition....more Graham Parker!!
  12:23am
efd:

Billy, I am all about communication avenues!

Cheri - my opinion on your (or anyone's) musical taste is completely irrelevant.
  12:26am
Amanda:

Yes, it does! Thought you might be heading there but did not have the "audacity" to hope.

I think any regular listener to this show must have quite good musical taste, but that is my own taste talking. So it's a circular argument.
  12:26am
E.L.:

Oh! I heard Monkey Power Trio on Liz's show. I knew that name sounded familiar.
  12:28am
Joe:

I know my taste in music is mediocre at best - my constantly listening to WFMU is me trying to make it better. It's like when you're trying to lose weight and you enter a triathalon that never ends.
  12:29am
cheri:

efd see you next week,,,
  12:30am
Sybil:

My taste in music is reputedly deplorable...
  12:32am
E.L.:

Joe, maybe start with a uniathlon or biathlon and work your way up?
  12:32am
Joe:

HELL-to-the-YEAH.

ELEPHANT POWER - Ganesh is FRESH
  12:34am
Joe:

E.L. - I kinda did. I used to listen to FUV. -Burn-
  12:36am
Joe:

GANESH!
  12:37am
Joe:

Hmm I guess call-and-response doesn't work so good on the internet.

Man I gotta stop being such a wierdo.
  12:39am
efd:

good effort, though, Joe!
  12:39am
efd:

on the call & response, i mean
  12:40am
Joe:

well... the weird takes effort, too.
  12:40am
E.L.:

Any chance of some Paul Stanley banter to go along with this? I think it's far, far better than their music. I wish he did spoken word performances.
  12:40am
HotRod:

Circular Power!
  12:42am
Neil:

Liked that MC Yogi so much I just bought it!
  12:44am
Tom:

That was 1976 Destroyer hmm I had to think about that one 2X cause the one I never got back then was Destroyer I skipped to "Rock'n'Roll" over ( hated !!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob Ezrin's production with a passion !!!)
  12:54am
Jessica:

Like the song says: aw, yeah!

I was on the phone with a sales rep, ordering new phone svc., and had to walk back into the Do You Love Me [turned up to 11] room to get my purse, and almost got the poor girl fired for laughing too loud. c'mon, like her supervisor wouldn't have just belted it out along with the clearly-always-right customer.
  12:56am
E.L.:

Well it looks like school is on. I'll check in next week. Best to all! Thanks Evan!
  1:00am
C:

this has been one of my favorite EFD shows of all time! (but i've only been listening for like 2 years) you're really giving the may day mayhem a run for its money!
  1:01am
efd:

wow, thanks C! I appreciate that.

goodnight E.L., good luck tomorrow! (or maybe I should be wishing that to the students)
  1:17am
Joe:

The Evan "Funk" Davies Show - perpetually teaching you how to not be stupid.
