Listener comments!

  11:13pm
Sybil:

Good evening all!

So cool, listening to Tom channel Nachum (did I hear him call for Mathis at one point? Hallucinate?)...

But, I'm saving it all for EFD this year!

... now to figure out how much "it all" is...
  11:14pm
Sybil:

Saving it all for EFD and Mike Lupica, that is!!!
  11:15pm
Ted:

Great song Evan. Good luck on the marathon.
  11:15pm
Joe:

Proposal:

For the next three hours, the 75 dollar pledge level is rechristened the "Mayhem" pledge.
  11:19pm
Marathon Co-host Mike Lupica:

Current prize up for grabs: Pylon re-issue CD! Pledge $15 or more right now and it could be yours! 1-800-989-9368
  11:21pm
E.L.:

This CD rocks. Well worth the pledge.
  11:27pm
Kramer:

iactually own this 12" OF Leisure Process's big Canadian single, even if this was the short version.
  11:27pm
Adam Pinch:

Already pledged some but I'll open the wallet again for some ... Au Pairs, Comsat Angels, Undertones, obscure Buzzcocks, anything the Wedding Present have ever done though no Cinerama, and the Delta 7s (who are way under appreciated.) Of course the Hank IV would be welcome.

Keep it up ......... yo.
  11:28pm
Kramer:

More Pylon??????????????????
  11:29pm
Kramer:

I have recording of Peel's Festive 50 where he seems pretty fond of Cinerama.
  11:31pm
Sybil:

Mayhem!

Wait, no one's adopted EFD yet? Hmm.
  11:38pm
Joe:

Do it Sybil. If I do it I'll just make the name really embarassing.

And nobody wants that.
  11:42pm
Sybil:

The thought is very tempting.

But my accountant is whispering in my ear. I may need to find a partner in this enterprise. Or two.

In other news, the WFMU insta-pledge banner doesn't show up correctly in my blog, and I can't fix it. (I actually have other work I need to be doing now, believe it or not.)
  11:44pm
Marathon Co-host Mike Lupica:

New Prize: Ladytron's "Velocifero" CD! Please pledge $15 or more right now to be in the drawing!
  11:50pm
Kramer:

Gilder is the second CN band on this show. Sound's like a Sweet outtake.
150+1 !!!
Now 662+4 This happens too often.. Hmm.
  11:52pm
E.L.:

Way to go, Sybil!
  11:53pm
Ike:

Apostrophe abuse! Apostrophe abuse! I'm melting! Melllllllllting!
  11:54pm
Sybil:

Wow. I'm, like, speechless.

"Like" speechless, not speechless.
  11:54pm
Lauren:

aw I thought if I pledged online I'd be in the running for the Ladytron CD? guess not! Would've pledged either way. haha. awesome band, awesome show, Evan!
  11:56pm
Sybil:

Lauren, I pledged online. I actually did it during the period for the previous prize, though. There seems to be a lag. (Just so you online pledgers know.) I'm not complaining, though.
  11:58pm
Marathon Co-host Mike Lupica:

New prize alert! New Bloods - "The Secret Life" CD -- Pledge at least $15 now to be in the drawing for it. Time is short, friends -- the time to support Evan is NOW.
  11:58pm
Ike:

There has definitely always been a lag, so if you want to get in on a drawing via online pledge, then hustle. (This is especially important to remember during Seven Second Delay!)
  12:03am
Lauren:

ah ok! thanks for clarifying. Not a big deal at all, just wanted to make sure it would go through and be noted for the show in general, if anything. good to know!
  12:04am
Kramer:

Theatre of Hate??

What's next Cabaret Voltaire? Fire Engines? Random Hold? Blanc Mange?
  12:16am
Naomi:

Clearly it would be Il y a des Volkswagons!
  12:18am
Marathon Co-host Mike Lupica:

Current prize: Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby's new CD! Call 1-800-989-9368 or pledge online to be in the drawing!
  12:23am
Kramer:

Since Smoke House is taken, I think a looping American Woman riff is appropriate.
  12:26am
Kramer:

Or maybe something from Metal Urban.
  12:28am
Kramer:

Is that movie "Brainstorm"?
  12:29am
Emily:

Mister Lonley!
  12:30am
Chris Costello:

are you talking about mister lonely?
the one about the michael jackson impresonator?
  12:40am
efd:

yes! that's it... thanks all for helping out (and for your pledges, of course!)
  12:42am
Mara:

Alright, decks are CLEARED! The current prize is the Imaginary Icons vinyl, and you might win it by pledging now at 1-800-989-9368. Call now!
  12:45am
efd:

Mike, this is for you.
  12:49am
Marathon Co-host Mike Lupica:

From the MC side of the studio, I thank you sir!
  12:51am
Joe:

Is that exclamation point part of the actual title, or just a bit of editorializing on the part of the DJ?
  12:53am
Kramer:

Help me,
This Polyrock tune has dragged me into the new wave vortex.
OK I'll pledge again for the EFD premo.
  12:56am
Sybil:

This is a great prize! Pledge now, you guys!
  1:00am
Danne D:

C'mon ya got folks like Terez and Sherri (and I probably spelled both wrong) and Tom S and Terre etc. I mean that's a cool phone room! Btw, anybody adopt Evan yet? (I can't as I already sponsored Knuckles the Dog)
  1:05am
Marathon Co-host Mike Lupica:

OK, last hour of the show, y'all, so I think you'd agree that a RALLY is what we need to carry us through til 2 AM! Current prize = the Baseball Project "Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails" CD. Pledge now to (maybe!) win it!
  1:05am
efd:

as far as I know I have not yet been adopted. :(
  1:06am
Sybil:

I'm counting my durn pennies to see if I can afford to adopt Evan. But I'll toss another MAYHEM-sized pledge in the mix.

Rally!
  1:10am
john:

Hey folks...a belated happy marathoning to all!
  1:12am
Danne D:

Go Sybil! I hear Evan is even housebroken (not sure about Knuckles the Dog in that regard). I think I'm about to take a stab at the baseball project CD as that's too many bands i like all mashed up together :)
  1:14am
Sybil:

Don't let me stop anyone else who want to adopt him... and doesn't have to tap into the stimulus funds to do it... (sigh)
  1:19am
Sybil:

That reminds me... where is our multiply-named friend tonight?=)=)=)=)
  1:22am
Danne D:

Of course someone can adopt Evan in honor of Sybil :)
  1:23am
Joe:

I'm trying to figure out how we could feasibly form some kind of EFD "holding company"...
  1:23am
Danne D:

I'd be sad about not winning but I believe the prize wealth should be shared anyhow :) And you can't go wrong throwing a few bones FMU's way regardless.
  1:24am
Sybil:

Ah, yes, a consortium!
  1:27am
Sybil:

Danne D, everyone's a winnah!
  1:28am
Marathon co-host Mike Lupica:

New prize, y'all: The Cheap Time CD on In The Red Records. Who loves Cheap Time? YOU LOVE CHEAP TIME! Call and pledge now!
  1:33am
Joe:

This is an awesome song, but one can't help but catch from it a certain undertone of frustration.
  1:45am
Marathon co-host Mike Lupica:

Don Cavalli CD on deck! With apologies to the Bayou Blues community, NOW'S the time to show your support for Evan Funk Davies. Please pledge in these waning moments of the program, and let WFMU know you've got our backs in 2009!
  1:51am
jonathan:

i just called to pledge for don!!!!!! i loved it!! hope everything is going well!
  1:54am
jonathan:

dramatical!!!
  1:55am
Kramer:

Patheticly ancient, I first heard this Robert Johnson on WPIX FM in 1979 and actually bought the album. It's in that stack of vinyl to MP3's I've not gotten around to (only up to the letter H).
He was a celebrated guitar player, accoring to the DJs at the time. That didn't make the album any better that the song we just heard.
At this point, with the perspective of history, and a stained glass view of the universe, I'm thinking Don Cavalli is much more interesting.
  1:57am
jonathan:

this is great stuff funko
  1:58am
Sybil:

OK, I'm up to 10 times chai... all I can do tonight!
  2:00am
jonathan:

maybe you'll great a retro-active pledge...?
  2:00am
Danne D:

Yay Sybil!
  2:02am
jonathan:

  3:58pm
Dave McGurgan:

Evan and Mike make a good team. Two of my fave WFMU DJs.
