Listener comments!

  12:00pm
Carmichael:

Hiya, Scott.
  12:01pm
Cecile:

hi, scott, hi trouble crew
  12:02pm
BSI:

who has curry cake?
  12:03pm
Cecile:

om nom nom nom
  12:06pm
Cecile:

I am still annoyed with how Stereo Review and Rolling Stone turned me away from so many good records in the 70s. Like this one.
  12:08pm
Marshall Stacks:

This Cale/Riley track is great. Getting my morning off to a promising start.
  12:09pm
Scott:

Yo all! Happy lunchtime
  12:10pm
Cecile:

what do you have for lunch, Scott?
Lamb tacos?
  12:11pm
will:

Love'll get you like the Church of Anthrax.
  12:13pm
Ike:

"I can't tell when you're feeding me the truth."
- I'm not.

"How do I know any lunch you've served me is..."
- You don't.
  12:21pm
Malibu Pete:

C. McAlister! Craziest man in South Carolina! And that's saying something.
  12:22pm
yockey:

DOPE
  12:32pm
Ike:

That sequence of Autobody-Thinking Fellers-Charlie McAlister was brilliant. A total blast.

Hmm... Terry Reid... kinda slickly greasily Lenny Kravitz-y. (Or is it Kravitz who's Terry Reid-y? Yeah, that's probably it.)
  12:37pm
BSI:

Great Ken impression!
  12:39pm
Cecile:

thewhitezoneisforloadingandunloadingonly
  12:41pm
BSI:

mind the gap!
  12:43pm
The Central Scrutinizer:

So, if ya gotta load or you gotta unload go to the White Zone. It's a way of life, you'll love it.
  12:44pm
Ike:

I just hate it when there's no service on the downtown side of this radio show.

(Nobody has bought yerterb dot com yet. Quick, somebody buy it before my evil employer's evil algorithm snatches it up and fills it with ads.)
  12:47pm
Mischief:

LOL, this sounds like frogger on the Atari
  12:47pm
Lizardner Dave:

I dig this track, especially because I just finished listening to "Printer Jam" on Vicki's archive from last night.
  12:49pm
Hugo:

May I put in a request for "Atras Do trio Electrico", either the Caetano Veloso original or the other version which Scott may know about? Lovely, both of them, but pretty tricky to do ...
  12:52pm
SCott:

Cheers Hugo! There's a request i can get behind - tho we'll stick w. the orig - I wouldn't dare play the one you're hinting at
  12:57pm
Hugo:

I thought it was lovely, but, granted, not an easy one ...
  12:58pm
Scott:

Thank you sir.
  12:58pm
postmanpaul:

wow! nice choice of starship scott... almost like hearing a new contemporary piece, they still rock for me!!!
  1:00pm
Stuart Troutman:

Yeah, but they were only good for the 1st-3rd albums; after that, fergit it.
  1:01pm
Cecile:

exactly
They made some great pop singles with those weird harmonies and Marty Balin's voice. I still like Miracles.
  1:03pm
doug from DC:

Hijack the starship! This wasn't really the same as the "Jefferson Starship," the Airplane still existed at this point. It was half of the Airplane, half of the Dead, w/Crosby and Nash. Similar lineup to the Sunfighter album.
  1:03pm
postmanpaul:

not on the £sd that was around then stuart...
  1:09pm
Carmichael:

I remember seeing Jefferson Airplane for free in Golden Gate Park. I was only 11 (went with my much older sister), newly arrived in U.S., and totally astonished at the band, the crowd and the music. It was deeply etched into my brain.

And I love this version of 10cc, Scott. Gary War's Eye in the Sky would back up into this pretty nicely too.
  1:10pm
SCott:

Hey Carmichael, yeah you're totally right about that Gary War cover! Maybe later today...
  1:14pm
Hugo:

Listening to JA these days, what I keep hearing is what a terrific bass player Jack Casady is - and his interaction with Jorma Kaukonen. No wonder they split off later ...

The Dead had Phil Lesh, also terrific ...
  1:16pm
Cecile:

This is hilarious and a great tribute.
  1:21pm
anyone to everyone:

very nice
  1:51pm
Carmichael:

You can recognize Marc Bolan's voice anywhere, can't you?? Beautiful.
  1:56pm
erik r.:

that tribo is great- reminds of caetano veloso's underrated araca azul... just found that comp on the fm shades blog! and now am extra-excited to listen to it!
  1:58pm
Scott:

Erik R, if you dig Tribo and Araca Azul, you gotta check out the 1st 2 albums by Walter Franco! "Ou Nao (1973)" and "Revolver (75)"
  2:01pm
Chris:

Wow, a quick google shows that Harvest Bag comp has some great stuff. Can we maybe hear the East of Eden sometime?
  2:02pm
Scott:

Chris, better than that it's got Edgar Broughton's "Call Me a Liar". and some serious schmaltz by Marc Almond
  2:07pm
Chris:

Works for me. Yeah the Edgar Broughton is strong.
  2:20pm
HUgo:

Thanks for the CV, Scott. In fact, the whole album is great. On the roll here, I'll second the request for East of Eden. Anything off "Mercator Projected" or "Snafu". Or their only hit single. As for Edgar Broughton, I'll' say no more. Except that his gig here earlier this year was canceled. Too bad.
  2:21pm
Carmichael:

Thanks for the oncoming bliss Scott!
  2:30pm
Ike:

Nice!
  2:38pm
wat cynder:

dream radio heard in the front seat of a '63 belair on blocks - thank you
  2:39pm
Carmichael:

The good ol' Bonzos ....
  2:39pm
anyone to everyone:

7 29 me birfffff day
  2:40pm
Andy:

Holy Shit. This song is going on the playlist for this weekend's homebrew session. If I can find it...
  2:40pm
Lewis:

very cool - Bonzos I haven't heard before!
  2:56pm
GP:

Ha ha Scott. Thanks for the CSI mashup, been waiting to hear this again. Caruso sounds so creepy out of context.
  2:59pm
Ike:

Chortle chortle chortle. Cackle. Chortle. At Caruso's expense.
  2:59pm
Cecile:

I missed the Bonzos.
  3:00pm
Cecile:

STARBUCK LOOP! Come to mama!
  12:51pm
ilya:
