GP:

Anyone else out there...Good afternoon Scott.
  12:06pm
Matt:

hey GP, I got the Rattles Scott. It is really good! Thanks again!!!
  12:08pm
GP:

This Komik-Kazee is awesome. I have never heard them before. I know, I live a sheltered life.

Reminds me of a punk B-52's act or something..I don't know.
  12:08pm
annie:

i like the music i can hear....
  12:10pm
dc pat:

I LOVE US GIrls.
  12:10pm
GP:

Annie,
Streams should be up soon. I never lost the lo-fi 32K MP3 one.

I'm off for some lunch.
  12:11pm
Stuart Troutman:

Brazilian girls are better.
  12:11pm
Justin CollectorScum:

Komik-Kazee's even better if you see the picture sleeve:

http://www.CollectorScum.com/justin/komik_k7.jpg

I have some copies of the record available. Find me at the site above if anyone needs.
  12:12pm
Ike:

Is it my imagination or is Komik-Kazee doing fake British punk accents in that song? And yet they're singing about NJ.

AAC+ stream sounds good (generally better than 32k MP3) in Foobar. Works in Winamp too, Annie.
  12:12pm
dc pat:

WOW, they were totally rad looking
  12:13pm
Ike:

Awesomely rad photo!
  12:15pm
dc pat:

A TIE with a T-SHIRT!! NOW I've seen EVERYthing!!!
  12:17pm
Scott:

Hi yalllz!! Wont have much chance to chime in today, plan onlosing about 6 lbs too, but here's the deal on komik-Kazee -- yeah, of course the accents are fake, it was 1983. leader / songwriter Ken Schwartz moonlited as the drama teacher at my high school (or was it middle school?)
  12:17pm
Sue:

woo hoo! Residents!! haven't heard this in a long while. thank you!!
  12:20pm
annie:

hooray for our web-footed friends, for a duck may be somebody's mother!!! hooray for our friends in the swamp, for the weather is very very damp..
  12:26pm
steven:

just came over, so if Scott mentioned this already then apologies - Prince Rama had all their gear stolen out of their van here in Philly, if you'd like to make a donation to get them back rocking for Rama quicker you can make a new gear fund donation here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=9046552

Caroliner - yes!!!
  12:27pm
stingy d:

  12:50pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

7"7"7" is the mark of the Incubus.
  12:52pm
dc pat:

I think he's trying out soap spray.
  12:52pm
dc pat:

may I just be the first in the hate line, thank you...
  12:53pm
Ike:

I'll bring the hummus for the hate line party.
  12:54pm
david:

rawk!
  12:54pm
Stuart Troutman:

Styx was among the worst bands of all time.
  12:55pm
Cecile:

*popping stuffed mushrooms in the over for the party*

Do you have some Guess Who or some what my friend calls dunka-dunka-dunka Midwest rock? Just nothing with Dennis DeYoung on it. ;D
  12:55pm
Cecile:

YES THAT'S IT!!!!!!
  12:56pm
Stuart Troutman:

I'd even choose Slade over Styx.
  12:57pm
SCott:

with you there Stuart Troutman, I really wanted this slade 7" to sound fab, but it sounds shit. the styx one sounded really good! super punch
  12:57pm
doug from DC:

Slade over Styx any day.
  1:01pm
Cecile:

Let's play rock paper scissors lizard Spock Slade Styx.
  1:03pm
Stuart Troutman:

Ok, you guys win: no Styx, no Slade either.
  1:04pm
dc pat:

Allow me to step out of the hate line now...
  1:04pm
SmokinJ:

Slade fucking rock..
  1:06pm
Cecile:

they do, J.
I love them. And that movie they were in, Flame is pretty damn good.
  1:07pm
Chris:

Yeah, Witch Hats, great live band. Would love to hear "Hellhole."
  1:07pm
BSI:

aaaaah............ it's def.time for a bit o'revolution.
not to mention the fact that it's the perfect song. Practically every cover a thing of obscene beauty.
  1:07pm
SmokinJ:

Never saw it C.. But I saw THEM, and they DO rock!
  1:10pm
AnAnonymousParty:

"You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ..."
  1:10pm
Lis Chere:

wow! thanks for playing "Goin Down to Bloomfield Center"

My dad, Jim Thomas, plays drums on that record.
  1:10pm
dc pat:

I don't mind Slade but Styx is one of those bands that turned me into a punk rocker..
  1:11pm
BSI:

AnAnonParty: Exactly! Perhaps that's why I dig it so...
  1:12pm
BSI:

(being the unrepentant hawkwind geek, that is)
  1:13pm
SmokinJ:

No mystery: Styx suck...
  1:15pm
Scott:

hey lis chere, funny - one of the guys in that band was my HS (or middle school?) drama teacher!; dc pat, there's a great Ramones interview on the Tom Snyder show (no Tom, he had a fillin) and the nice lady asks what they hate so much about 70s/80s rock, and Joey says "Styx" and it's like even the nice old lady understands! Are they the world's most hated band?
  1:16pm
MattJou:

Journey can be pretty bad too!
  1:16pm
Ne-guh-tor:

HEY! You're playing my band! Thanks, Scott. You broke us to the world!
  1:17pm
SmokinJ:

Journey is also wretching material..
  1:18pm
Scott:

Rocket Cottage is you? That explains something! Is this the band that opened for Blue Cheer?
  1:18pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Yes, indeed! RC! I'm on drums. We opened for BC last year.
  1:20pm
Cecile:

Styx are still very popular, I mean, they put out records with no airplay and they go gold.

It's just they are very, very polarizing. You either hate them, or you're like Freak and Geeks' Paul Feig and you try and cram in a Styx song in every episode (which, ironically makes it very period-accurate)

Negator, is Rocket Cottage named after that Steeleye Span album?
  1:20pm
Scott:

thanks for sending me the copy then!
  1:22pm
dc pat:

negator, you play Premieres? I use to, have an old set in the basement.
  1:25pm
cringe:

there's a way to make that not happen - all the sides have to be the same way around
  1:25pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Your welcome, Scott! We are recording our next EP in a short time. Cecile, we are named for the Steeleye record. DC Pat how did you know I play Premier? Uncanny! What do you play now?
  1:25pm
SmokinJ:

C: No airplay? Christ, the got LOT's of airplay here on the third coast...
  1:27pm
Ike:

Wow, I had forgotten that there was such dogforsaken musical whoredom featured in Freaks and Geeks. It was probably so period-accurate that I barely noticed. Great TV show, anyway.
  1:27pm
dc pat:

I quickly checked out your MySpace page, saw a pic--I mean, I could tell by the sound!!! I switched to guit long ago but recently "found" my kit again. Now my kids play it.
  1:30pm
Cecile:

Well, no airplay on top-40 stations.
If I was listening to classic rawk stations, they might be playing the new Styx album. I"m talking about their new album, sorry. Yes, they played so much Styx oin the midwest in the 70s, 80s, 90s, urm, still now.
  1:33pm
Stuart Troutman:

Scott, I really liked the distorted Harbor Lights organ. Reminded me of old dark tourist restaurant lounge joints of the early 60s.
  1:36pm
Ike:

Amazing Bablicon track!
  1:36pm
Stewart Stevenson:

Hey guys, what about Winger?
  1:37pm
Matt:

Winger too! eeek!!
  1:38pm
SmokinJ:

True C. Top Forty stations were but a memory when Styx broke...
  1:39pm
GP:

Jumping back in...here....right......about...NOW!
  1:40pm
GP:

Justin,
Thanks for the Komik-Kazee info!
  1:44pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Maybe the dingo has set your baby on fire?
  1:44pm
Cecile:

THey played them on top 40 in the 70s. Just not now.
My language skills are crummy todays
  1:48pm
Stuart Troutman:

from the Ohio 70s, right?
  1:48pm
Carmichael:

Just came back. Noticed someone mentioned Slade and Styx in the same sentence on the same comments board.

That's enough to tear the fabric of the space-time continuum.
  1:50pm
GP:

A site that has photo that may or may not be the aforementioned Azalia Snail ,if interested:
http://tiny.cc/GrrrlBands
  1:54pm
Glenn L:

That's definitely Azaila in that photo GP.
  1:56pm
GP:

Cool Glenn, there are a few others that I'd like to find out more about ; )
  2:01pm
BZ:

I HAVE NO SON!
  2:03pm
SmokinJ:

Like I said, by the 70;s Top 40 was dead as I knew it..
  2:04pm
GP:

Ahhhh, distortion we missed ye.
  2:06pm
Ike:

This "Beat It" cover reminds me of that killer "Borderline" 7" by the Flaming Lips with Stardeath & White Dwarfs. Although that's more of a straight-up psych-ish blowout.
  2:07pm
BSI:

damn, but me likey the pumice.
  2:08pm
Ike:

...and less funny ...and less distorted... now that I think about it, they're actually not similar at all, except that they're both noisy covers of '80s pop hits.
  2:12pm
GP:

Regarding M.J,. covers...( Cecile, will probably know this one ) that Michigan band Moxy Fruvous has a nice one of "Billy Jean".
  2:16pm
Cecile:

I thought Moxy were from Canada?
No, I didn't know that one. Sounds good.

I gotta go. Pleasure talking to everyone.

Scott, you are the 45 King!
  2:17pm
paul:

LOTL ahhh!!!! one of the best 7"s i own!
  2:18pm
PMD:

Here now too. I love garage sales.
  2:20pm
Coolie:

Baaaangin!
  2:21pm
GP:

I think you are right Cecile...take care.

Love this Loops record.
  2:24pm
PMD:

The Great Swamp!!
  2:33pm
Russ:

Hell ya on the Rocket Cottage. EP's called Go For It! Not on any label known to man!
  2:35pm
PMD:

128k is burping. Guess I'll switch off.
  2:37pm
BSI:

no burping here (128k via EYEtunes). .. so far...
  2:50pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Anton, sure was naughty!
  2:50pm
GP:

Ha..Anton sounds like Lee Greenwood!
  2:50pm
monica:

really great show, scott! in fact, the whole week so far has been fantastic listening. oy, imma have to dig deep to come up with something good.
  2:51pm
BSI:

wheeee, those parrot records always make a good sonic oatmeal.
  2:52pm
Scott:

thanks Mo! Can't wait to hear what you come up with!!!
  2:52pm
GP:

No not Lee..dangit..I still can't remember...I'll think of it some other time.
  2:55pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Me too, Monica! I always listen to your show. I agree 45's rule.
  2:58pm
Coolie:

Tha classix...DAMN.
  2:26pm
bennett:
