Listener comments!

Joshua K:

This rocks. Baby Grandmothers
  3:21am
jj.:

Gotta give it up for the psyched-out Finn-rock!
  3:48am
fbaube:

I checked and that band is not Finnish, it's Swedish. Bummer! But some Wigwam would rule. fred in helsinki
  3:50am
jj.:

Whoops, just recorded in Finland, I guess. My bad!
  3:53am
fbaube:

Eipä kestä! :) You're playing great stuff for the monday morning workplace blahs
  4:17am
Joshua K:

I need that big star box set. I had two big star releases and lost one, so I might as well go all out.
  4:28am
fbaube:

snootable is totally ruling
  4:31am
Joshua K:

So like... Snootable Snunshine was written for Phish but they said the original was so good they couldn't improve on it so they never played it.
  4:34am
jj.:

Ha, yes. Something like that.
  4:37am
Joshua K:

I did a google search for the song title and this interview with Richard "Nancy" Wright from a Phish book came up:
http://tinyurl.com/ydkvqmr
  4:42am
jj.:

And they probably couldn't have! But it woulda been a great Phish tune.
  4:46am
fbaube:

good grief this sounds like backgound music for an east german visit to mars or something. nice!
  4:48am
jj.:

Ha! Norwegian, actually! Only four Hammond organs doing that, too.
  4:51am
fbaube:

the snootable etc download is here

  5:06am
pauldepiedppiperspremadonna:

thats the sound to an animated kafkas mind slowly disintegrating and one thing is certainly for sure i think. i love it;)
  5:13am
fbaube:

All this music is making me think of Forbidden Planet for some reason. But maybe Tarkovsky is more like it?
  5:15am
jj.:

Ooh, the Barrons. Good idea! Dunno Tarkovsky. Should check out, I'm guessing.
  5:21am
Paul Nudetape:

JJ. Tarkovsky is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Absolutely essential. enjoy discovering.
  5:22am
fbaube:

Solaris (with Clooney) was a pretty OK remake of the Tarkovsky version. Stalker is the other famous sci-fi film by Tarkovsky. Both are based on sci-fi stories by the Strugatsky brothers and both will warp your brain.
  5:26am
jj.:

Ohhhhhhh. Far f'n out. Gotcha. Just read "Solaris" last month. Remember the Clooney version. Been meaning to check out the original. Hooray for convergences.
  5:26am
Joshua K:

I think the one with clooney was in some cases closer to what was in the novel, but in other aspects not as much. The book was more involved than either one. I love the soundtrack to the newer one.
  5:35am
fbaube:

When WFMU gets a video feed they can start with generous helpings of commie retro sci-fi !
  5:45am
Avant Reguard:

brilliant brilliant show. early/mid morning here in ireland. wonderful start to the day. keep pushing the outsider weirdness.
  5:46am
fbaube:

Wasn't this Keili's time slot? She played great stuff too but nothing from outer space :)
  5:49am
jj.:

Yeah, Keili's great! She was the Saturday/Sunday overnight, tho.
  5:57am
KC:

Thanks from the UK for a great selection this morning. Working from home has never been more enjoyable.
