Listener comments!

  8:06am
Billy Jam:

Greetings WFMU listeners. Besides all the bad news this week (Haiti earthquake + the ever fucked up economy + so many great artists passing) there was also some good news when earlier this week New Jersey became the 14th state to decriminalize marijuana for medicinal use following votes in the state Assembly and Senate. The Assembly voted 48-14 to pass the "Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana" bill and several hours later, the state Senate voted 25-13 to approve the bill. Gov. Jon Corzine has said he will sign the bill and is expected to do so before leaving office next Tuesday (Jan 18, 2010), and once he does the law is expected to take effect in about six months, meaning the Garden state could see it's first medical marijuana dispensaries open this year - 2010 is gonna be a good year, I can tell. ......No guests today - just music. But stay tuned for upcoming weeks' guests coming thru the WFMU studios plus details on the upcoming Irish remote from the Community Skratch Games in early April.....Also for more hip-hop and related updates (many pertaining to WFMU) if you would like to join me on FaceBook hit me up directly under the name "Billy Jam" - THANKS for listening to the only goddam radio station that matters W F M U

We all have some debilitating disease. Mine is a debilitating disease or unease around idiots who still believe that weed should be criminalized while alcohol and tobacco are legal by the US Government. Plus that pain in the neck - Glenn Beck. WTF - Wot The Feck! Legalize it fully - and set free all those wrongly imprisoned in the USA over pot possession!

...and I'd enjoy it as well.......
  3:19pm
fred:

I can only wish they got rid of the "medicinal" qualifier. I mean alcohol is legal and I've never had any trouble with anyone high on pot ever, even though I'm used to walking home late at night. Drunk guys have been having me running more than I care to count. I know, the state gets tax money out of booze. Hey guys, tax weed as well, and make it eay for lame/white/old looking guys like me to get the stuff already.
  3:20pm
Cecile:

I know. LOL.
I didn't suggest it to Doug. He has his setlist carved in stone.

Cecile could put stuff on her iPod and stop bugging the DJs, too.
  3:23pm
Dr. Joy Browne:

DJs would rather be praised than punished, but they'd rather be punished than ignored.
  3:26pm
djspiderman:

hey Cecile think of me as the advance landing party for the weekend 4:19 is a distant hazy memory .for us GMT 'ers ..i love Billy smacking the fuck out of my subs on a friday night ...cant help but dance -- 8)

  3:45pm
north guinea hills:

I've seen Todd Terry before (I think the last time was 2004), and I had fun... (but it depends on the crowd)....
  3:47pm
Cecile:

He'll probably go on at like 2 am, right? It's one of those extravaganzas with 15 deejays.

I've never been to a big Dj show like that, but I'm not getting any younger. And neither are the oldschool house guys.
  3:47pm
fred:

Seriously now, all I wish from the lawmakers is to just stop harassing B-boys. I work for a contemporary music institute in Paris and it should have been embarrassing as hell to people there to be "protected" by the fucking police. I mean this place is the only resident of Igor Stravinsky place in Paris, and this guy had his share of controversies in his time. I just guess he was on the other side of the truncheon thing, times change...
  3:50pm
djspiderman:

ahhhhhhhh jackin it bigtime ----8)
party recon report = dont listen to this show at work you may get fired for uncontrolabley struttin your funky stink like a menko ---

2AM if you're lucky. I can only do that these days if I have a 3 day weekend, now that I have a jobby job and I've gotten old..... (i wasn't even that young back then, either)
  3:58pm
Paul:

Yo if you all haven't checked Youtube for DJ Irie at the IDA 2009 you are missing one talented DJ/VJ who has taken things to another level. He will blow you away with his set.
  3:58pm
Cecile:

it's on a Friday, but unless it's the best show in the world, I can't stay up that late.
Still it's kind of inexpensive and there's some good new Midwest DJs playing

Paul:

Cecile, organise your cru go and have a really good time with them. Enjoy the night and party.
  4:02pm
Cecile:

I'm a wolfpack of one for most things, Paul.

Maybe I could talk to some of my girlfriends.
  4:06pm
fred:

Yeah, what I meant, though not that first degree.
I mean with all this guy did to open up things, isn't it a shame to have cops clearing up the space when dark-skinned types claim the space? There was no such intervention when a white guy set up his feedback guitar clinic, and somehow I think the very claim to the official mantle of arbiter is part of what makes IRCAM irrelevant.

Boulez is something else though. I haven't seen him much, but I think he's legit.
  4:07pm
Ike:

Hey Paterson, just out of curiosity, you get any interference from a reggae pirate at 90.9? That's not cool, that pirate taking a frequency nudging right up next to FMU and causing problems.
  4:10pm
fred:

(I was replying to dc pat, sorry for the delay)

Think it's time to call a production meeting to order.

Cecile I am the same but when I want to go to something I go, as I know I will wonder how the gig was if I don't go. You sound as if you are really up for this. Ask your girlfriends go party and have a great night.

Paul:

Yo Bill, any chance of dropping some Tu-Ki, Scary Eire or Ri-Ra?
  4:36pm

Yo billy, i'm checking you out from Brooklyn. Chowdown is hot but I prefer All U Can Eat by the Disco 3. You need to let the listeners decide the hotter food track.
