When asked if he preferred the new astroturf on the field at the Houston Astrodome to real grass, Tug McGraw said, "I don't know, I never smoked AstroTurf".
  9:48pm
spoony:

"Listless" doesn't even begin to describe it, Evan. Trying to sleep with that crap in your body is like trying to relax while someone is yelling at you.
  9:51pm
efd:

confidential to Joe B. re your earlier email: Yes. absolutely!

The shows I saw were all about Annies anatomy.
  10:33pm
ADL:

I'm very late to Orange Juice, but I love everything I've heard from them. Do you think it's wrong to place them, taxonomically, near Talking Heads?
  10:47pm
efd:

Personally I don't tend to think of Orange Juice and Talking Heads together, but don't let that stop you!
  10:50pm
cheri:

well evan it's my very final comment of the year ,,it's been sooo much fun hanging out with you thanx for the music & mayhem,,, see you in 2011,,(say hi to danne for me),,,
  10:53pm
seang:

the only thing I can think of is that David Byrne was born in Scotland, cool show efd!
  10:56pm
efd:

thanks, seang!

Cheri, enjoy the holidays and see you next year. I have every degree of faith that we will see no further comments from you in 2010.
  10:58pm
?:

i'm not holding my breath. i give it maybe 15 minutes.
  11:01pm
ADL:

Hmmm, interesting; OJ's semi-falsetto vocals and unwonky polyrhythms sound a lot like 1980ish TH to me. But then again, that Boris/Ian Asybury sounds like A Sunny Day in Glasgow to me, and that's not exactly a band that jumps out as an influence on anyone (or lacks for cognates). Anyway, enjoying the show!
  11:03pm
ADL:

Though maybe those crazy Philly kids were listening to the Cult and Japanese guitar-mayhem bands. Okay, backing away from the Linnaeusator.
  11:19pm
Holly in NC:

Arriving home late on a VERY frigid evening - arctic-era Bowie making me VERY happy :-)
  11:24pm
efd:

cool, glad you enjoyed hearing that Holly!
  11:29pm
randy in NC:

Holly has it right. It is certainly frigid here in the south.
  11:29pm
meato:

yeaaaaahhhh
  11:31pm
Holly in NC:

Hey Randy in NC - where are you? I'm in Durham. And now enjoying Scattered Order while waiting for my car to be towed (from my driveway, thankfully...)
  11:34pm
efd:

what up, meato?

It's pretty much frigid everywhere, it seems, although I'll allow that it's more unusual in NC and points south.

ADL, my advice to you is don't overthink it! :)
  11:36pm
Brooklyn:

currently 27F, wind 15 mph, gusts to 30, wind chill 15
  11:36pm
randy in NC:

Cary. Kids are looking forward to going to school 2 hours late tomorrow. For what will likely be just a dusting...
  11:38pm
Joshua K:

Got this fancy wfmu app on my new iPod touch. Very nice.
  11:38pm
randy in NC:

currently 29F here, at least its not windy...
  11:42pm
meato:

whoah!
  11:45pm
efd:

meato, I assume your "whoah" was in response to the air horn, not the North Carolina temperatures.
  11:49pm
Holly in NC:

@Randy - while I've now lived here longer than I lived up north, as a born & bred New Englander I'll _never_ fully get the school delays here, but yay for your kids ;-).

I also remember half- school days in Durham due to HEAT before ac was installed in (most) schools..that was really alien to a newbie southerner!
  12:00am
randy in NC:

@ Holly AC must be one of the main factors that contributed to the rapid growth of the south in the last 30 or 40 years.
