A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Brian in UK:

Afternoon, I'm in Watford.
  10:44am
Robert:

Now you've got me going with that video and its audio. "[Quelquechose] demain enfant comme deguise...." "[Something tomorrow child-like disguise...."? I get most of it; the guy was left a message in red metallic lipstick 2 days earlier.
  10:46am
trouble:

hah! robert i never bothered to listen to the lyrics i am mesmerized by the dancing dog, and the rest of the white animals who are so blase
  10:47am
listener mark:

I've watched the video three times. It is funny and silly and all so serious.
  10:49am
Emily:

Hey Trouble! I can't believe it was a whole year ago that y'all were in Maine. Hope that summer is off to a good start in your neck of the woods. Great tunes this morning!
  10:51am
Robert:

"...je pleur et pleur encore, le regardais demise, et souffle car encore...."

"...child-like disguise (I cry and cry again) looked at him [in his] demise, and resumed breathing again."
  10:52am
pierre:

@ Robert : i think its "Bébé comme un enfant qu'on déguise" wich means "baby, like a child we are dressing up with a disguise".
  10:52am
Brian in UK:

Trouble, bit late in but this yellow will takes us screaming thru June.
Music first, pictures later.
  10:53am
Canary:

I can't see myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10:58am
trouble:

emily! we were just talking about you guys yesterday! remembering our fab trip and des said he wants to go back to maine. You and patrick would love the sheila hicks show at the ICA in phily. SO great!!!
  10:58am
erella:

ah thank you Trouble.
Working on a deadline and ESG is perfect. Everything you play is. I have wisteria out my window with real birds chiming in. Thank you from paradise.
  10:58am
john:

ESG were a female funk band from the Bronx. Is the same band? Is there an album of remixes?
  10:59am
john:

What terrible grammar I got.
  10:59am
Robert:

"Oh, j'aime...j'aime pas comme tu [mot semble "fear"] comme je t'habille en 4 seconds. Retourne a l'avenir, et tente l'[quelquechose] blanche."

"Oh, I love...I don't love like you [-?-], like I'll dress you in 4 seconds. Return to the future, and try he white [something, I guess an item of clothing]."
  11:01am
Robert:

"`To kiss me forever', written in lipstick, `to kiss me forever' in metallic red."
  11:01am
trouble:

yes same band, this is not a remix album just a cut on the original
  11:05am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

...except when the computer crashes, and then you want to kill someone
  11:06am
john:

Trouble---Thanks-Been a long time since I heard it--
  11:07am
stefica:

i had the same experience with "Freedom," I felt like I read so many reviews of it that I'd already read the book. I read it anyway, on the urging of a friend who loved it. I didn't love it, but really, the reviews would have sufficed for me. so if you don't feel like reading it, i think you can safely excuse yourself.
  11:09am
Robert:

"Deux jours tu passe sans laisse demand -- c'est comme un signature -- a graphe dans le [mot semble door], c'est 4 semaines sur."

"2 days you go without going back on this demand -- it's like a signature -- [that was] written in the [whatever]; it's 4 weeks for sure."
  11:13am
Robert:

"J'aime le clef la printemps, la mort est dans le coffre...."

"I love the key the spring, the body is in the coffin...."
  11:18am
trouble:

thanks stefica! would rather spend my time really loving what i am reading
  11:19am
Robert:

"Et a mon disc de Renaud, jaune d'ailleurs je te [mot semble love]." Ou peut-etre "jette [mot]."
"And to my Renaud record, otherwise yellow, I [something] you" or "throw [something]".
  11:19am
john:

Read Lost Positives by me----I recommend it---
  11:22am
listener mark:

I get it. At the end of the video, the llama goes home. Maybe not. This is going to take all day.
  11:23am
Robert:

Refrain, refrain again, and then the promo photo, and they pack up and leave as in the movie of "Jesus Christ, Superstar".
  11:23am
Robert:

I'm just going to have to Google the lyrics.
  11:27am
john:

Can anyone tell me about this song?
  11:29am
?:

The Julianna Barwick song?
  11:30am
john:

Yes please--
  11:31am
listener mark:

gil scott heron ?
  11:31am
john:

..or Julianna..
  11:32am
trouble:

io can tell you that juliana barwick is a solo musician and she uses tons of looping of her own voice to create texture. she performed on this show once and it was gorgeous to watch and hear
  11:32am
?:

The whole album is like that. Almost all a acapella looping with wordless vocals. See
http://tinyurl.com/5tuq3zl
or juliannabarick.com
  11:34am
?:

(Obviously I misspelled her name there - http://juliannabarwick.com)
  11:35am
Robert:

The closest English equivalent is "to be on a 1st name basis with".
  11:36am
john:

Thanks everybody--
  11:37am
Robert:

"Me? I'm on a 1st name basis with the angels."

Works perfectly.
  11:37am
stefica:

trouble, i agree, and yet it seems more and more new fiction is merely serviceable, not lovable.
  11:39am
john:

I'm lovable I'm lovable!
  11:39am
Robert:

BTW, all the young people (i.e. less than 70 YO) in France now tutoies by default. "Vous" has become more formal than it used to be. I don't know about Quebec, maybe they're more old fashioned there.
  11:46am
ben drinken:

In Vermont there are a lot of French last names because of bordering Quebec. It's funny how some folks pronounce the names like the French way and some insist on pronouncing it English way. Like Dubois is "du boys" etc.
  11:48am
listener mark:

Tack så mycket, trouble. A great way to start the week.
  11:49am
ben drinken:

some families at some point in history even changed the spelling like there are Tatro families and Tetrault families.
  11:50am
annie:

  11:53am
Nat the Parker:

  11:53am

CLASSIC SONG !!
  11:55am
Yaniv (Jerusalem):

Usually a cynical lad, but this song always gives me the goosebumps.
  11:57am
BSI:

Asha!
  11:57am
trouble:

the fabulous mike adler has cracked the code and put up the pic of the day! a mask by leonora carrington. thanks all for the good words today, have a great week
  12:01pm
maja:

thank you
  12:01pm
Robert:

OK, I Googled the "Kiss Me" lyrics in French, and now I'll attempt xlation again: "Baby, like a child is disguised, you cry and cry again, stiffening just to give a breath to the heart again. I love, I don't love when you hurry ("spin"), when you get dressed in 4 secs. Return the vinyl, extinguish your last blonde. [refrain] You always leave without saying a word -- it's like a signature -- endorsed in scars and bites. Hold the key to the bridge."
"
  12:03pm
Robert:

"...Love is in the coffin. I offer you my Renaud disc to keep as a bonus."
  12:11pm
Robert:

Pierre, I hear songs even worse in French than in English! So funny how I heard "cicatrices et morsures" as "c'est quatre semaines sur"! "Scars and bites" came out, "it's 4 weeks for sure".
