	11:08am Cecile: Grant Hart has his flaws, but is pretty great. He marches to the beat of his own drummer. for sure.
	11:09am Cecile: But frankly, Greg Norton was the smart one out of all of them. He plays Crimson-like fear-prog with friends from Zebulon Pike, is a noted chef and stays above all the BS. Before Metal Circus came out, he was the frontman onstage - cracking jokes and working the crowd.
	11:10am Cecile: I saw some video of that and it gave me a whole light on the damaged Huskers dynamic. As they mixed Greg out of the picture, it got less and less interesting to me.
	11:11am G: After the election in November, the winning side will say they have a mandate, and the losing side will say the election was stolen. Wow, this is easy!
	11:12am bill: Cecile, that sounds like very interesting video. Can you direct me to it?
	11:12am Nate in Detroit: Holy Crap, that beer nerd meetup sounds amazing! WFMU and Canadian Breakfast Stout at an arcade?! I think my head might explode. The only way it could possibly be more perfectly tailored to fit my interests would be to add a bike ride in there somewhere. So bummed I can't make it.

	11:14am Cecile: I wish I could. Maybe try "early Husker Du" on YouTube? Some guy I don't know hauled it out at a "boys night" where we all brought our favorite rock DVDs and drank beer. It was from a handheld camcorder at the Entry in '82 or '83.

	11:16am andymorphic: i saw mould do a solo set last year and i reminded of how many brilliant songs that guy had written.

	11:19am Cecile: you know, everyone loves Zen. And I appreciate it. But I just got a lot more out of its cousin album Double Nickels on the Dime.

	11:26am andymorphic: zen and double were very different but represented hardcore maturing...that went i many directions...it was an exciting time..
	11:27am dc pat: can't argue with the Fall, although truth be told, I'd probably pick out a Buzzcocks tune to listen to before the other Go4 or Fall.
	11:29am Cecile: it was, but kind of also a beginning of the end. A lot of people who were starting to do interesting things with hardcore - Scream, Really Red, Sorry, GI, Articles of Faith kind of got lost in the shuffle. (also the fact that people were inventing the indie business model as they went along didn't help.)
	11:29am Worldpop: This is by far one of the most addicting stations that I have ever listened to!
	11:29am andymorphic: this about the fall and wire is they are still putting out great material....go4 and buzzcocks are done creatively
	11:30am Cecile: I realized a long time ago that I am not that much of a treble person, and the Du and Buzzcocks are all treble to me.

	11:32am dc pat: I'm ALL treble though I can't hear in bars anymore. in a similar vain, there was a great interview w/ Ian MacKaye on our local pub radio yesterday. I think his indie business model is pretty cool though maybe too exclusive.

	11:36am BSI: @DCPat: heh, I'm "somewhat" curious about that interview but can't get around to it (seem to be filling my ears with WFMU: tough habit to put down for a few minutes)... I guess you you've made it in this town if Kojo N. is interviewing you on the tin box...
	11:37am Cecile: Ike, the only thing stranger is that I probably enjoyed "homosapien" as much if not more than the Buzzcocks.
	11:37am andymorphic: in winnipeg it was metal that killed hardcore. slayer played in like 84..opening for verbal assault and everything changed ... all the hardcore went metal.
	11:39am Cecile: Or people discovered the Stooges or Birthday party like The Necros and Die Kreuzen, respectively.
	11:39am dc pat: BSI: I think he has a lot of integrity and tells a good story. as punk rockers go, he's a pretty good egg. Right about Koko--I was surprised that he was so well informed about DC punk...or Fugazi anyway.

I still despise WAMU for throwing all of its bluegrass shows overboard years & years ago. Oh right, they "moved" to the HD2 channel, as if anybody uses HD radio. And now WAMU is trying to carpetbag another NPR station's territory on the Eastern Shore. Jackasses.

	11:54am BSI: For me in the early '80s, it was WMUC (u.of maryland), WCVT (towson state u), and WHFS. ... Seemed like all the menacing jocks on the school-bus were big Greaseman heads... Nowadays of course, radio down here is long dead. Long live FMU.

	11:57am Ike: Too bad WMUC could never get above 10 watts... at a whopping height of 3 feet! Would've done D.C. radio a world of good. I heard some amazing things on there on the rare occasion that I visited College Park. They're still there, yeah? Still trapped in the FCC's backyard, can't get away with anything, I'm sure.
	11:58am Cecile: andy, I heard that a lot. I'd be playing these records I kept trying to get the other college djs to play, and here was a national radio station confirming what I liked!
	11:58am dc pat: but the thing that bugs me most about H Du is Harts drums--they sound like shit almost universally. Total crap on Zen, like wet towels. I know very little drums from SST was good but come ON!
	11:58am bill: Cecile have you read "Freedom"? Late 70s/early 80s MPLS - a major scene takes place at 7th St Entry. I was at Mac at the time, saw Husker Du play the concert hall. I think there were 4 of us watching.
	11:59am Cecile: no, I haven't read it. Who wrote it? I remember finding copies of Sweet Potato and whatnot and wanting to be there.
	12:00pm Cecile: I went there for Minicon and proudly sported my Clash and B-52s badges I bought next door to the hotel.

A lot of people who were starting to do interesting things with hardcore - Scream, Really Red, Sorry, GI, Articles of Faith kind of got lost in the shuffle. (also the fact that people were inventing the indie business model as they went along didn't help.)
