17 out of 22 on the grammar test
  11:21am
G:

22/22, but I guessed what they wanted on two of the that/which items. I never bought the recently made-up that/which distinction -- many, many authors do not follow it.
  11:28am
duke:

20/22 - that/which has always thrown me
  11:28am
Roberto:

Mmmmm Muffs yum yum
  11:35am
Roberto:

Ooh a grammar test -- I be good at that stuffs. Imma take it now. Results posted soon...
  11:35am
G:

You go, girl :-)
  11:36am
duke:

@MS why be you questioning ours scores? We is grammar stars.
  11:39am
tomB:

was it a bluebird or blue jay? Blue jays can be pretty aggressive
  11:39am
Peter:

Michael,
Good job with the bird. As a rule, if a bird appears weak/injured, it is frequently attacked by other birds, even its own nest-mates.

It's because a wounded/sick bird will attract predators.
  11:39am
ChooChoo - ATL:

Was the "Bluebird" a "Blue Jay"? Jays are pretty aggressive. -- I've seen a Mockingbird kill another bird in the same manner you described.
  11:39am
Roberto:

22 OUT OF 22 I OWNED THAT S**T MOFOS!!
  11:39am
Greg/Brooklyn:

Sure it was a Bluebird? Sounds more like a Blue Jay. They are aggressive... Chasing down other birds and even cats!
Shelly to the rescue... Nice
  11:40am
G:

That $5999.99 Beach Boys offer is way past the point where completism shades over into commitable OCD.
Avatar 11:41am
Michael:

It was a blue bird - probably a Jay. Do any birds eat birds?
  11:41am
mrmucho:

hawks eat other birds
  11:42am
G:

birds of prey, yeah
  11:42am
Peter:

Peregrin falcons, etc. eat birds all the time. Pigeons are feathery candy to them.
  11:42am
Peter:

Oops *peregrine.
  11:44am
Bob:

Michael, you may have convinced me to get a Beach Boys ticket next week in Detroit. I too have been on the fence. Tickets here can be had for as low as $16 too.

Cool to hear that last tune. I only knew it from the Skeeter Davis & NRBQ version.
  11:46am
tomB:

hawks kill and eat birds. Crows might, and jays are related. More likely, the jay was merely trying to kill the bird, with no intent of eating it.
PS: Bluebirds are there own species and great insect eaters. Not as common as 100 yrs ago. It would be worth a google.
Avatar 11:48am
Michael:

Why kill a bird and not eat it?
  11:48am
Andy:

The bird attack sounded more like defense. My guess is that if the smaller bird was a wren or sparrow, it was probably attacking the bluebird's egg and/or nest. A predator would've flown away. Mothers stick around til the end.
  11:49am
PB:

Just tuned in and see that you played Do It Again. Always loved that song, particularly the really cool drum sound they got on that track.
  11:51am
PB:

Speaking of peregrine falcons didn't Donovan do a (quite good) song with that title.
Avatar 11:52am
Michael:

PB - I'm pretty sure they did NOT get that sound on the track. What makes you say different?
  11:55am
PB:

I didn't hear the early version that you played so I'm not sure. The 45 RPM version that I have has a really cool drum sound, particularly in the intro. Kind of like a "fuzzed out" sound, for lack of a better description.
Avatar 11:56am
Michael:

Indeed - but it was added as an overdub - I'm pretty sure - not that it, it is still cool
  12:01pm
ChooChoo - ATL:

I think the bird thing was about territory.
  12:03pm
seang:

damn that was a good song. I didn't know he wrote a song for the Georgia Satellites.
  12:08pm
Andy in Berlin:

The old "herding cats" problem
  12:15pm
PB:

Growing up in Toronto I heard a lot of Teenage Head (Canadian content rules and all) but they were a really good band.
  12:16pm
Myron Feld:

Michael, i have this 45 (Picture My Face) and saw them @ Max's -- GREAT song!

  12:32pm
