A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Good morning all. 'Meek's Cutoff' is a wonderful film. The copy I saw was in the old 4:3 ratio, was wondering if they released it that way. Hey T, any thoughts on Melody Gardot? Can't recall if you've ever played her.

What breed of birds do you have, Trouble?
  10:03am

Great new Niyaz song. I like these guys - ethereal dark Iranian traditional / classical (this song is also spiritual) mixed with electronics. They're playing at Drom in NY 7/22, outdoors in Atlantic City (!) Kennedy Plaza 7/25 and have other tour dates after that (listed here): http://www.niyazmusic.com/#!/tour-dates/

Swimmingly...Chickens of the Sea? I know where you can get some purified seawater.

Trouble, you have to hear theGeneral Johnson version of this (he wrote the song). Did you ever watch Sanford and Son? There's a whole bit that's all "Elizabeth, I'm going to join ya!" It's hysterical.

  10:15am
Jon:

Barred Plymouth Rock. They're beautiful. Does your coop have a door that closes securely at night? If not yeah, raccoons can be pretty good at getting at chickens. But if they're closed up they should be fine.
  10:15am
Vivian:

Trouble, I can listen to chicken talk all day...
  10:16am
Jon:

In upstate NY there were al kinds of paw prints on my girls' coop in the morning -- raccoons, even coyotes.
  10:16am
sugarwolf:

chickens!!

There was a PBS documentary about chickens which my grandma just loooooved.
  10:17am
Jennique:

Trouble you need to capture that raccoon and shave his whole body. That'll slow down his charmer ways.
  10:17am
Braveness23:

I've had terrible luck with Plymouth Barred Rocks. They are very gentle birds and don't put up much of a fight when the other breeds pick on them. Mine have always been killed by the other birds.

hola trouble. raccoons are enterprising little fellows. i had a chain with spring hooks on a metal garbage can with my bird seed (they would chew the bungee cords). the whole chain just went up and missing a few nights ago. i lost about 3 metal suet cake holders, too. can't find them anywhere. i have to bring my hummingbird feeder in now too because they climb my porch post and shimmy over to drink the sweet water.
  10:19am
Cecile:

raccoons are wily little bastards.
  10:20am
Cheri Pi:

Racoons make loud crazy love in the tree right next to my bed. My dog is not amused to say the least.
  10:21am
Braveness23:

CP, does all the love makin' make Eddie Meg a little randy?
  10:22am

Cheri, between this and the spoken word break in Patches, I am on the floor. I am a terrible person.
  10:22am
Cecile:

Oh, humor, you are so cruel. But hilarious.
  10:23am
fred von helsing:

I had Leghorn hens and lil'ol' Banty males. The Banties shepherded the gals around the property, hitting the best worm spots, and crowed back and forth to each other once in a while to keep in touch. Pretty advanced for dinosaurs methinks.
  10:24am
Ken the scientist:

Let the wild rumpus begin?
  10:25am
Cheri Pi:

No, I'm afraid it leads to her standing on my head with back paws, front paws on top of the headboard and barking her ass off out of the window. at irregular intervals throughout the night.

But who iz ze rumper... und who iz ze rumpee?

Ah yes, Cecile.
It has a dollar bill on the cover and is mainly blue.
I saw her play here in toronto (before her first record came you) to an audience of about 10 people because I loved that version she did of the Hugh Hopper song and we talked to her about it. (She knew nothing about the song other than it was pretty)

Yes, it was a hoot to meet her because we thought her voice on the record was fantastic. At that time Robert Wyatt was my pen pal and I was enjoying anything that taught me anything about him. I wrote him a fan letter that was very sweetly artistic. He responded and we corresponded for a long while. Maybe a couple years. It was really fun.

I will play games til the cows come home, but I don't do it in a group unless there's a break where everyone is kind of on their own.

It's pretty rude.

Big Santigold fan. Found out she had to change the spelling as there was a conflict with one of the "Cash for gold" outfits that had the rights to the Sant"o"gold spelling.

Yup Jennique, and also Santo Gold's Blood Circus with I think has something to do with the gold stuff as well.
