I don't recommend Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm
efd:

hey everyone, thanks for tuning in! I arrived at the station at 8:50 thanks to some massive NJ Transit bullpucky, so it's going to be an... interesting show. But still good listening, I hope!
  9:21pm
miss cheri:

i know what you mean,, evan traffic jams are a bitch!

well, it was a train delay cheri, but close enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
efd:

@jmd I'll keep that in mind!
  9:24pm
G:

And this time someone get an accurate "Devastator repetition" tally, for the love of God.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
efd:

@Joe D. that was 6 minutes of ass, to be exact.

McG, feel free to post a little blurb about tomorrow night. It's certainly not anything that I would even remotely be making money from so there's no conflict of interest that I can see.
  9:31pm
Mike East:

Yes! Yes! This Rocks!...No! No! Don't Stop a Rockin! Good Evening all.
  9:33pm
Holly in NC:

Hi everyone! Glad you made it, Evan - your tweets had me worried! Have to go buy some essentials (cat litter, cat food, toilet paper, toothpaste, cabbage & wine, not as pathetic as sounds) - back around 10:15. ish.
  9:36pm

You can listen live or catch on-demand replay/free download after show airs. We'll be doing what all normal people do: Hanging out, listening to weird music, talking records, baseball and what it's like being a WFMU DJ.
  9:39pm

Evan pullin out the perfect song for the 40th anniversary of Atari
  9:48pm
Thierry:

Hi Evan! So great, Adam!
  9:51pm

Kat, I was just kidding. I kinda like Detroit. I went to school in Windsor, Ontario for 3 years (not exactly Paris or London if you know what I mean) went to Detroit a lot and really go to like it (once I found my way around).
  9:51pm
McG:

Sounds good Mike. Double shot of @efd !

miss cheri:

evan & danne i thought you'd be interested that i turn 31 early next month..
  10:10pm
Ike:

I'm still mystified as to how NJ Transit is the most direct route to Jersey City from any Penn Station with low ceilings. But, other than that, I dig!
  10:11pm
Destroit:

hello efd and everyone, glad to be listening.

@Ike, it isn't - I go home first to get my records and my car.

@Hi Destroit, nice to see you! I had a great time in your city a couple of weeks ago!
  10:13pm
Danne D:

Have a happy birthday next month, cheri.

Hey Destroit!

Btw, my Fantasy Baseball Team has completely collapsed :(
  10:13pm

@Danne: Does that make it de facto a Nightmare Baseball Team for the moment? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm

@Danne, as long as your team is in front of mine you're not allowed to complain. The Commissioner has spoken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
efd:

@Barkevious, I won't put up an argument against your vote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
efd:

Hi Julie! Nice to see you here, even if you're just passing through before getting here here.
  10:19pm
Ike:

Ah @efd, then you have multiple potential excuses. You can always claim there was train traffic *and* car traffic.

Not a bad live version, but I still prefer Weird Al's "My Bologna."
  10:20pm
common:

fuckin thank you evan just bought get the knack foe a buck 3 weeks ago and listened to this 10 times thanks for the live
  10:20pm
Droll:

I never heard The Knack live before. This is so good, it's almost Cheap Trick good. Come to think of it, the only thing better than this might be Cheap Trick covering it live circa '79.
  10:20pm
miss cheri:

evan could you please do me a small favor and play the abba tune "dancing queen" cause i feel like a dancing queen these days,, ty evan!!

Throbbing Lobster Records, that's a hilarious name
  10:33pm
Danne D:

@efd to quote Sparks "I'm gonna be able to complain, and it's gonna be soon: I PREDICT"
  10:34pm
Destroit:

Hello Danne. Glad you had a good time efd. Were you here for the electronic music festival, or something else?
  10:36pm
Chop Scott:

Thanks again---that meant a lot personally to me---Cheers!
  10:36pm
Lemme Guess:

plenty tunes for dancing queens on the july 4th disco show
  10:39pm
Droll:

EFD, Exactly! Cheap Trick always struggled with being over-produced. The Man always wanted them to be more accessible (even brought in George Martin to help make a mediocre record). I had no idea, but am not surprised to hear, The Knack also struggled in the same way.
  10:39pm
steve:

im excited for the disco show
  10:40pm
Holly in NC:

Back!
@Barkevious - My personal Magazine pick =.Permafrost, but it's a wee bit too dark for many people. Very dark, actually. And nsfw or airplay.

  10:46pm
Holly in NC:

Happy almost birthday Danne! I see Ike shares our appreciation for Weird Al ;-)
Hello Cheri!
@Droll, I am always surprised at how darn GREAT 1st Cheap Trick lp is, and sad I came to it way late in life
  10:47pm
Danne D:

Thx Holly :)
  10:47pm
Pig Eon:

I had that Larry Raspberry LP in college. Saw them live in Fort Dodge, Iowa in '77. "Tonight" is a great track as I recall. Thanks for playing it EFD. Brings back memreez.

Destroit: I was there for the festival! Second year.
  10:51pm
miss cheri:

evan you're the master of funk!
  10:53pm
Writing Team:

We need to come up with some fresh material for cheri, pronto.
  10:54pm
Destroit:

Hello Kat. Did you happen to go to 1515 broadway?
  10:55pm
PB:

We need to rescind Cheri's posting privileges.
  10:57pm
G:

If only Plastic Bertrand could reform, book the Poisson Rouge, and you could announce the show during a mic break :-) :-)
  10:57pm
Droll:

WT & PB, Amen. It's been over four years of ,,,,, and requests. It played itself out after 4 posts.
  10:58pm
Kat:

Destroit: nope. Had No Way Back on the to-do list but friends were playing the Droid party at the Works and I never got over to 1515 Broadway.
  11:00pm
Danne D:

It is kinda closing in on that "clicker" guy calling Chris T's show every week when he was on Fridays. I think even the Bob's Mediacology calls didn't last as long.
  11:01pm
Danne D:

I still think you need to do an ELP Brain Salad Surgery mashup of some sort for this segment :)
  11:01pm
G:

Am I allowed to make the chicken salad sandwich while reclining luxuriously in a bubble bath?
  11:02pm
Destroit:

Kat, too many afterparty options that night.
  11:02pm
Danne D:

@G only if you first put your camel to bed.
  11:03pm
Droll:

G, WFMU can sell the Midnight Ticket Oasis and build a hotel on it, but WFMU can never sell Le Poisson Rouge.
  11:03pm
Danne D:

On the one hand, the Feelies would probably be a cool show to see on my birthday. On the other hand, I really was not big into them back in the day (or even, to guiltily be honest, into them so much now) so I think it's more fair to allow someone else the honor.

There will be a NASCAR race in Kentucky for me to watch that night for my birthday :)
  11:04pm
Danne D:

Surprised nobody picked a french name for the ticket give-away segment to get evan to say more french stuff :)
  11:05pm
Danne D:

My team is only 2.5 points away from me being able to whine about it with impunity, btw.
  11:07pm
PB:

I thought the recent Feelies "comeback" album was kind of disappointing in the sense that they sounded pretty much exactly the same as on their last record made some 20 years earlier. Having said that, I really liked them when they first hit the scene back in the early 80s.
  11:07pm
Droll:

DD, We should pool our money next year and pick a French tongue twister for Evan to say every week.
  11:07pm
miss cheri:

evan & danne i got to go now. danne have a happy birthday! g'night efd & danne
  11:09pm
Heather:

ack, i'm gonna have to stream the archive - you played the baseball project 7". gotta hear that. evan, do you have any don agrati on you? "homegrown" is a pretty great album, and i just read that he passed away :(
  11:09pm
Ike:

I don't remember the clicker guy or Bob's Mediacology, but that's my terrible memory for you.
  11:09pm
Kat:

Oooh, EFD disco party next week. Hope I can hear it over the noise of the ad hoc fireworks displays in my neighborhood.
  11:09pm
Danne D:

Thanks for the birthday wishes cheri, good night!
  11:10pm
Danne D:

@Ike - it was during the time that the Church of The Subgenius stuff was on FMU. I mean this is like gotta be late-90s.
  11:10pm
SteveL:

Difficult to believe that I would say that, yes, I am looking forward to another summer disco dance party. Please do not tell my teenaged self.
  11:11pm
Danne D:

The clicker did it for a long time. Though that schtick wasn't as thorough as some other ones.

This is like Kenny G level of proficiency at this juncture.
  11:11pm
Danne D:

No schtick from me - I just post a ridiculous number of comments.
  11:11pm
miss cheri:

evan i'll see you in two weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm

@steve, I won't tell your teenaged self if you don't tell my "Disco Sucks" t-shirt wearing teenaged self.
  11:14pm
Holly in NC:

@SteveL - I know, right? I've been catching up on *so* much great left field that my parochial (pre)teenage self didn't have easy access to, and have become annoyingly nostalgic for the top 40 stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
efd:

@Heather, I have to admit I'm not familiar with Don Agrati. Will try to check the FMU library if I have a chance before the show's over.

Quagmire's Dad:

Fancy dancin' now.
  11:16pm
Danne D:

LOL @EFD I think my brother had the same exact shirt :)
  11:16pm
Heather:

@efd no worries! you don't have to dig it out.
  11:16pm
Holly in NC:

I think Nancy, Wanda, & Dolly should get together & do something while they're all still feisty & alive
  11:18pm
Droll:

I grew up in Chicago and was not old enough to attend, but clearly remember the fallout from Disco Demolition Day at the Wrigley Field double-header.
  11:20pm
Droll:

. o O (Clearly enough that it was Comiskey park. Either way, Nile Rodgers cites that as the end of Chic.)
  11:20pm
Holly in NC:

efd's song of the year so far, I think.. go Pujol! ;-)
  11:21pm
Danne D:

I think this pujol song should've been played after "El Hombre" #backseatdjing
  11:21pm
steve:

ha, deal efd. my suburban new jersey vfw hall hardcore matinee attending self never could have seen the disco obsession coming years later...
  11:21pm
Kat:

I have a DJ/producer friend here in Chicago who includes the phrase "Avenger of the Events at Comiskey Park" in her Twitter bio
  11:22pm
Danne D:

and should be followed by Gary and the the Heartthrobs #backseatdjing
  11:22pm
Thierry:

Stereototal said she liked wigs, fake moustaches & sideburns, but The Cage's funk definitely was the real thing!
  11:24pm
Kat:

Brian Protheroe!
  11:25pm
Danne D:

I wonder if Julie will playing something birthday-related for me tonight. If only there were a band with a name that was appropriate for such occasions :) Then I'd request them :)
  11:27pm
Holly in NC:

Did y'all hear that only marijuana was found in the FL "face eater's" system ? If media & GOP spins as I suspect they will, may set decriminalization laws back about, oh, a century
  11:28pm
Danne D:

@Holly - Hmm, haven't heard Ken's take on that article ;)
  11:29pm
Danne D:

That is the most awful case of the munchies ever though :(
  11:29pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Ya gotta eat...
  11:30pm
Droll:

Holly, Refeer Madness 2012-2112? [Make your own Rush joke]
  11:30pm
Danne D:

Dumb question (that medical science probably already answers) they'd be able to detect if that marijuana was laced with something else I suppose, right?
  11:31pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Laced with eyelid.
  11:33pm
Thierry:

Wasn't tobacco detected on egyptian mummies?
  11:35pm
G:

The French corner is now awaiting the Stereo Total back announce
  11:37pm
Holly in NC:

2 labs said only THC detected, but cya "can't keep up with the gazillion synthetics being manufactured every day"(paraphrasing). No chemicals typically found in known 'bath salt' preparations detected. Already some govt idiot has posited that sativa (vs indica) could totally make people ..crazy....
  11:39pm
Thierry:

synthetique=fake, oddly in french
  11:40pm
G:

like "artificial"
  11:41pm
