  9:00am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

happy HALLidays! AND may the nOATES of holiday music fill the air!
  9:01am Dan B From Upstate:

Happy apocalypse eve eve, all!
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:05am Ken:

Oh yes... that apocalypse. I'm not in favor of this particular apocalypse.
  9:05am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

the Camping apocalypse, and then the sequel was much better
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:06am Ken:

Yes, tha Camping Apocalypse! Now THAT was fun! Until it wasnt.
  9:06am The GB Kid:

Morning Ken and everyone!
  9:06am Dan B From Upstate:

You only prefer crazy religious radio DJ apocalypses, right? They certainly are the most entertaining.
  9:07am Cheri Pi:

I want this image on the side of my apocalypse-themed conversion van.

Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:09am Ken:

Well there are no real Mayan believers in this one! <drunk ken> What a load of crap! </drunk ken>
  9:10am Cheri Pi:

Ahhhh, I love this song. and this album. and this band.
  9:11am common:

i hope i'm listening to can when the apocalypse occurs.
  9:11am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

GB Kid: have you had a chance to listen to the tape yet?
  9:12am G:

This is the kind of thing that happens to dumb Apocalypse predicters:

"On June 9, 2011, Camping suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. In June, a neighbor stated his speech has become slurred as a result of the stroke, but on July 15, Family Radio stated Camping's speech was unaffected. After leaving the hospital, he moved to a nursing home for rehabilitation, before returning home to continue his recovery. Previously, on June 23, Family Radio had announced that it would replace Camping's Open Forum program with new programming."
  9:14am The GB Kid:

Dwarfman: I need to find a tape player first. It's prominently displayed on my desk right now tho
  9:14am Dan B From Upstate:

That sloth plays a mean air bass.
  9:15am Caryn:

Man, that sloth is the spitting image of John Denver. While being "Rocky Mountain High".
  9:20am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

GB Kid: nice! as is the sticker here. i don't know the best place to put it yet. decisions decisions.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:21am Ken:

Be forewarned - Im gonna play some Xmas music today.
  9:22am The Grinch:

Can I steal it?
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:22am Ken:

I hope nobody's offended but that is the first and only FM Transmitter Nude I have ever seen or found.
  9:22am The GB Kid:

Ken - any chance we will be hearing any of the first hip hop album composed entirely of animal noises? http://tdcruze.bandcamp.com/album/the-savage-beast
  9:23am The Grinch:

Plz distort the shit out of it. My heart will grow three sizes.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:24am Ken:

How is it GB Kid? I havent downloaded it yet. I am VERY particular about my singing animals.. is it real animals, or people doing animals?
  9:24am Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Have you all seen the eagle in Canada try to carry off a child? A sure sign of end times.

  9:25am paul:

this jason forrest john/yoko edit came out on a really limited cdr compilation that came in a christmas card, i still have it but the cd itself won't play anymore. i had to ask someone to send me a lo-bitrate mp3 version so i could listen to it again.
  9:26am hinkle:

tuning in from berlin! greetings ken and everybody.
  9:26am The GB Kid:

@Ken - it's pretty solid for animal noises tracks, it's all real animals and the sounds are looped to make beats 6.5 / 10
  9:27am dcp@:

HOLY--!
  9:28am Rob( from Mt Hope):

Oh Ken, more Krampus in the back ground!
  9:30am Dave B:

Musical saw is like a poor mans detuned theremin
  9:31am Snortley:

@Karen:
Golden Eagles attack even larger things; deer, wolves, goats - one even swooped down on me in Prospect Park.
  9:31am Krampus:

In the words of the immortally diabolical Al Haig: As of now, I am in control here.
  9:31am f☄f☄:

Happy End of the World to you all!
  9:31am Glenn:

Santa brought me cats
  9:32am Detroit Mac:

I have "The Christmas Blues" by Jo Stafford stuck in my head... and it is a good one (IMHO)
  9:33am Dominick:

Not really Christmas, more a "winter" song but "Sleigh Ride" is a good composition.
  9:33am Dan B From Upstate:

If you're taking requests for your fill in next week, it's been waaaay too long since Tim Lacy did a fill in.
  9:33am ?:

Steve Krinsky!!!!!!
  9:33am f☄f☄:

hinkle,

Is your fist name Hadas??! Hadas Hinkle?!!
  9:34am The GB Kid:

i haven't heard 'simply having a wonderful christmas time' yet this year
  9:34am green mountain man mark:

The dancing Rhode Island traffic cop for your fill in.
  9:35am Brian C:

Wooden shjips, the standout track on the "War on Xmas" CD! Best holiday song ever?
  9:35am Honey Water:

@Ken: Genuinely *good* Xmas music? I rec O Come, Emmanuel or Carol of the Birds or Minuit Chrétiens from Joan Baez' "Noel" album (actually most anything off of it).
  9:35am hinkle:

ha haaa, yeah kind of. and who, may i ask, are you?
  9:36am Cheri Pi:

i just receied my War on Christmas cd yesterday, hallelujah!
  9:37am Thelma blitz:

Timely good Christmas music is The Coventry Carol written for the mass killing of innocent children by the mad King Herod. I suggest Loreena McKenitt:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g7-exAMKAY
  9:37am tr;sh:

"It's Howdy Doody Time" from the Scrooged soundtrack
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096061/soundtrack
  9:37am f☄f☄:

hinkle,
I'm just a Fofo. You are kind of a celebrity in this show. Welcome aboard (just don't hurt the DJ). And by the way, I kind of like your installations.
  9:38am Dave B:

I'm kinda partial to Roy Orbison " Pretty Paper" this time of year
  9:38am G:

@GB: I've heard it twice already in stores, and one of those times a 50something year old black lady looking at vegetables was singing along with even the verses, in a loud voice. I got my quota for the year.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:39am Ken:

Welcome Hadas the Goddess!
  9:40am Thelma blitz:

If you have Odetta, Christmas Spirituals, you can't go wrong with the roaring "Poor Little Jesus."
  9:41am BSI:

Celebration bowels!
  9:42am Cheri Pi:

Blow Fly's version of Little Drummer Boy is by far my favorite...
  9:43am The GB Kid:

hey darlene, nice mickey mouse holster!
  9:43am Honey Water:

Actually, Burl Ives singing "I Wonder As I Wander." I know that would be a fave of yours, Ken.
  9:44am hinkle:

thats nice news---- happy i tuned in live finally!
dont worry ken, im too much addicted to both of your shows to cause u any harm.
  9:44am f☄f☄:

Cheri pi,

Since the end of the world is coming this Friday...could you please send me the War on Xmas CD? I'll take care of it. I'm in the little french town where the apocalypse is not going to reach.
  9:45am jan:

Is the big German radio a Grundig?
  9:46am W in NJ:

After this, for the love of sweet baby Jesus, no more LDB!
  9:47am Cheri Pi:

FoFo-I want to die with the War on Christmas Cd in my hands, I'm sorry my friend.
  9:47am dcp@:

There's a radio in the picture?
  9:47am Honey Water:

@W in NJ: I concur. But you know if you ask Ken for a favor, he'll most often do the opposite. So I'm NOT going to ask him to stop playing LDB.
  9:48am Sam:

Silly people, the world already ended a long time ago! There's nothing to be afraid of. And God died sometime in the 19th century, so he's no threat to anyone anymore.
  9:49am The GB Kid:

More LDB please!
  9:51am groucho:

you sound like the voice at the beginning of that Air tune from The Virgin Suicides.
  9:51am f☄f☄:

Cheri Pi,
Ok. Send me the beach ball at least!! Since there are not going to be people around I'll need something to play with something in the post-apocaliptic beaches.
  9:51am W in NJ:

@Honey Water: thanks; good to know. Bit of a newbie here!
  9:58am Mark:

hold on Ken, are you trying to say that your sound card just died?
  9:58am Brian C:

I want to hear Johnny Cash's rare German version of LDB
  9:58am Roberto:

Ken's Kristmas musik helps kwell the voices in mein kepi.

  10:01am The GB Kid:

i miss little drummer boy already
  10:01am Robert:

My sound wasn't working over most of the spring and summer this year, then resumed working flawlessly. But now the microphone's not picking anything up. I'm going to try updating the driver.
  10:02am Sam:

Boy, if you could mix this in with some lines from Barack Obama's audiobook that would be pretty sweet.
  10:02am fred von helsing:

@sam seconded!
  10:02am Brian in UK:

Have you got Milhous reading anything?
  10:04am The GB Kid:

dude, you got a dell?!
  10:04am Thelma blitz:

Do you know "Christmas in the Workhouse?" ( a red diaper baby's favorite):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlQAExBRS3U
  10:05am Caryn:

I think The Grinch would be perfect reading material for Nixon. If there's a tape of that, my X-mas would be complete.
  10:06am magnetic ears:

Something is really wrong with that "xmas-story"...
  10:07am efd:

It's true, you did fool me. Or at least confuse me momentarily.
  10:09am Cheri Pi:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
  10:09am W in NJ:

Please, more LDB!!!!!
  10:09am W in NJ:

Please, more LDB!!!!!
  10:10am Caryn:

Yay, the phones work! That's the best Hanukkah present Ken got this year.
10:12am Tongues Too short To Felch Wit God :

  10:13am Sam:

When you consider that Nixon bombed Cambodia on Christmas Day, yeah he is a serious grinch.
  10:14am tim from champaign:

I love "I'm Fat Daddy"! All hail to the Fat Man!
  10:19am Caryn:

@Sam: aw, and he thought those explosives would make nice gifts...
  10:20am Cheri Pi:

Can no one, find a few hours in their day to bleep out the naughties in Blowfly's LDB?
  10:20am Sam:

Is the Grinch based on the Ebenezer Scrooge? Or are they both based on an older character? The crotchety misanthrope who refuses to have Christmas cheer and remains greedy and selfish. I think it came out of anti-semitic stereotypes.
  10:22am Mark:

don't drink the milk. Why? It's spoiled
  10:24am The GB Kid:

i'd love to see that milk spritz gif played backwards
  10:24am dcp@:

Man, great versions of Dirt...killin!
  10:25am OLD LADY:

YOU TAKE THAT MILK AND POUR IT ON YOUR MUSH AND EAT IT!

BAH!
  10:25am Mugsy:

Is that satellite thingy Chas Bono?
  10:27am Mugsy:

Because if it is, that is funny.
  10:27am Caryn:

@Sam: Scrooge has several real-life inspirations (and for the record, none of them Jewish) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebenezer_Scrooge
  10:28am Brian in UK:

@ The GB Kid What's wrong with Adele?
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:28am Ken:

Hell no Sam, the grinch came out of the Krampus / Belsnickel tradition. HUGE european tradition of Santa's evil nemesis / companion.
  10:29am G:

Scrooge is Protestant or agnostic, not Jewish. He came out of Dickens' experience as a child of adults and society not caring about the consequences to others of their actions, growing out of his father's time in debtors prison, and his own time as a child laborer in a factory filling bottles with bootblacking dye.
  10:29am dcp@:

jessus H. KEERIST! If yer gonna cover Dirt, this is the way to do it!!
  10:31am f☄f☄:

We just need the bagpipe version of Dirt and life would be complete.
  10:32am The GB Kid:

@ Brian - i got no problems with adele
  10:32am Dave B:

@Mugsy

No, its... http://i.imgur.com/MmdBv.png
  10:34am Honey Water:

Whad I miss? Was in the kitchen poaching pears in red wine and spices. Looks like a lot of Dirt and, thank ghu, no more LDB.

@W in NJ: I'm not much of a veteran myself. And Ken's a wily one. He can reverse the reverse when it pleases him. :)
  10:36am Honey Water:

Heh! I had Baez' version of LDB playing on my laptop *before* Ken started with Iggy.
  10:38am tim from champaign:

Did Iggy record this in the same session as Butt Town?
  10:39am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

b00b dylan!
  10:40am Honey Water:

Only great thing about the Baez version is Peter Schickele's arrangement.
  10:40am Honey Water:

Oh, Bobby, why? Whyyyyyyyyyyyy?!
  10:41am Roberto:

YES YES YES!! MORE DYLAN XMAS!!
  10:42am jan:

Is that a Gibson Guitar in the photo?
  10:42am Tom - K'way Bklyn:

There really should be a WFMU Christmas CD ,., ie.. DJs single playing ,,., I mean it had to be good ,, just can't suck !!!!
  10:42am Thelma blitz:

Don't forget the South Park's "Jew at Christmas" and "Mr. Hanky"s speech.
  10:42am G:

Isn't there a Justin Bieber or Psy "Little Drummer Boy"?
  10:42am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

does b00b dylan do a version of 'what child is this'? if so, i bet it is dreadful.
  10:44am channeling Bob D.:

Ah Blow Me, Fideles
  10:44am efd:

Just yesterday I got followed on Twitter by @dylanchristmas, "The Twitter feed to promote Bob Dylan's Christmas In The Heart, out now on Columbia records!"
  10:45am ?:

@jan - nope. its a Gretsch
  10:47am jan:

It's a really nice Guitar! What about the electric Iron- is it an American Beauty?
  10:48am Honey Water:

@jan: Is that a Black & Decker iron in the photo?
  10:48am Sam:

Did the UCB cancel you because of the low quality of the show?? Or was there another reason? Because I loved all those shows!
  10:48am Honey Water:

[I would have posted 3 min. ago on the iron, but I couldn't find a friggin' list of iron brands!]
  10:49am Sam:

Not enough attendance?
  10:51am Sam:

Maybe it's Andy's damn personality.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:51am Ken:

Yeah, attendance at the shows was on a downward spiral due to the repellent nature of Andy's personality. I had forgotten to take that into account.
  10:52am Honey Water:

I like the in-studio shows.
  10:53am Sam:

Crap, there were a bunch of times I wanted to come but I couldn't get out of work early enough. If you guys get to perform there again I promise I'll come to every show.
  10:53am f☄f☄:

but digital attendance was high, right? UCB people need to check the wfmu server's disk usage.
  10:53am jan:

Honey Water- I'm guessing that you don't do your own ironing.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:54am Ken:

We're going to get Andy a new personality that is still funny, and then maybe a later time slot and then maybe a new venue.
  10:54am channeling UCB:

how do you guys put it? entering its death throes?
  10:54am jan:

Ken, are you going to still have accomplished guests on 7 Second Delay. The banter in those shows was especially entertaining
  10:54am dale:

iggy's version of little drummer boy screamed out for a drum solo cut in there. maybe next year.
  10:54am Honey Water:

@jan: Oh, my heavens, no! I have a staff for that!
  10:56am Sam:

Yeah, you had some phenomenal guests - I'd hate to see all that disappear. Even though the detention episodes are funnier.
  10:56am Honey Water:

Actually I have some cheap no-name-brand iron. My guitar, otoh, is a Guild.
  10:57am Sam:

I guess Andy spent all his resources to get his perfect musical taste and he had none left to invest in a decent personality.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:57am Ken:

Yeah. we're going to try all sorts of things on SSD and then in the summer possibly go back to doing live shows.
  10:58am Brian in UK:

@The GB Kid That's good, I have got a Dell too.
  11:04am Honey Water:

Hopefully the pledge Philo & I sent through the mail today will give some little (seriously, little) boost to SSD's budget in 2013.
  11:04am too much coffee:

this is what nearly all christmas music sounds like to me, basically
  11:07am Melody:

I haven't had a chance to listen to the War on Christmas comp yet, but this James White thing makes me glad I got it.
  11:07am jan:

I've no idea what kind of front loader washing machine is being used in the GIF.
I just looked- my own iron is a Black and Decker. They took over the GE brand.
It would be great to have one of those Silver Streak glass irons, although they are so rare and precious, ironically, one would be crazy to use it.
  11:09am Honey Water:

What's the dude in the upper RH corner doing / saying I wonder?
  11:11am The GB Kid:

@honey - i think he is saying, "let the killings begin"
  11:11am Honey Water:

@jan: Does anyone actually iron anymore anyway? I so rarely do so as we so rarely need to.
  11:12am jan:

Does anyone know if he is eating Soba or Udon?
  11:12am Honey Water:

@GB Kid: Killings after a last supper of spaghetti?
  11:13am Caryn:

Have spent the show knitting my grandma a present. Have so far done the length of my hand.
  11:14am Honey Water:

@Caryn: Yay! How many hand lengths do you need total?
  11:15am Sam:

Those Babylonian baboons, they'll getcha every time
  11:16am jan:

Honey Water, I am just finishing up the laundry after a trip. I hang up tee shirts rather than tumble dry them. Dress shirts, I prefer to get dry cleaned, as the color doesn't fade and the original sizing remains, leaving a stiff appearance without using more starch. I seldom wear button down shirts. In a pinch, I do my own ironing.
  11:17am Caryn:

@HW: no idea. I have 3 balls of yarn, so whatever I get out of them. Just making a scarf, since have no time for fancy schmancy stuff.
  11:18am Honey Water:

@jan: Would you like a position on my staff?
  11:19am paul:

long live ED SPECIAL!!!
  11:19am f☄f☄:

I have two balls of yarn. What can I accomplish with that, Caryn?
  11:20am MD:

DOG=GOD....MY GOD HAS 4 FEET...XOXO!!!!
  11:20am Honey Water:

[that's what HE said...]
  11:20am jan:

Honey Water: I had no idea that listeners to Ken's show kept household staff. Are you from Downton Abbey?
  11:21am MD:

pAWS...
  11:22am Honey Water:

@jan: [that's what SHE said...]
  11:23am Caryn:

@f☄f☄: depends on the size of the balls :)
Sometimes you can get a pair of socks out of one ball of yarn, sometimes only one sock. The instruction I have for the scarf say I should get about 140 cm out of the 3 balls, with some left over for fringe and decorations.
  11:24am Brian in UK:

Downton Abbey, very popular in the White House. Get a life.
  11:24am Honey Water:

@Ken: So will you be booking Jules Feiffer for an interview in 2013?
  11:25am Carmichael:

Good morning Kenneth and future Mayans. I've missed quite a show, I see.
  11:26am jan:

Brian- Never seen it. It's BBC- do you watch it? I waste my time watching Top Gear.
  11:27am βrian:

I used to paint houses with Special Ed. Whaddya know.
  11:28am Unctuous Rancid Dwarfman:

cursing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbTULjLtKP4 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP4-7VQV42k HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
  11:30am Brian in UK:

@jan No chance. I fear Top Gear is too right wing for me. We are lucky enough to have BBC Radio as well as FMU
  11:30am Michael:

Praise to Jesus this is great ken.
  11:32am Honey Water:

Best pop cultural use of Downton Abbey was in the Martin Short skit on SNL this past Saturday. HIlarious, it was.
  11:33am The GB Kid:

'this is going to hilarious' indeed! LOL OMG
  11:34am Caryn:

@HW: the British 2-part parody was great, too. "My hair's just knitting!"
  11:34am Brian in UK:

@Honey Water I assume you go about your house as GOD made you, hence no need for clothing nor ironing.

Thank you for this glass harp stuff.
  11:35am Honey Water:

@Caryn: Aha! Is THAT what induced you to buying those yarn balls?
  11:36am Honey Water:

@BUK: Yep, BUK naked.
  11:36am burpage:

  11:36am f☄f☄:

I'm crossing fingers one of these Wednesdays Ken's going to upload the "Jesus Fucking Christ" image.
  11:37am jan:

@Brian UK. It's true, I've overlooked the class aspect of the program as well as Jeremy's smug dismissal of environmental concerns. The show has had its comical moments which until recently I had found amusing.
  11:37am Honey Water:

Speaking of balls, I think one's about to be coughed up.
  11:38am Brian in UK:

@HW Hope you do not katch a cold.
  11:38am drewo:

Merry Kittymas to all.
  11:38am Judean People's Front:

  11:39am People's Front of Judea:

@Judean People's Front - sod off!
  11:39am Honey Water:

@BUK: Never. I have my servants press around me whenever I feel a chill.
  11:41am Honey Water:

Do not cry over spilled dry ice.
  11:42am Caryn:

@HW: nope, but doing my knitting did bring to mind that line from the parody. (First part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5dMlXentLw)
  11:42am Brian in UK:

I'm not the son of god. You need to speak to Reg.
  11:42am crissantcasserole:

was focusing on work while listening and swore i recognized that song as some karlheinz stockhausen i'd heard a long time ago. surprisingly pretty jingle cats song anyway...
  11:44am f☄f☄:

Ken,

You'll do great if you spin-off a career in videodeeyaing at the beat of Gifs. People would flock to see you performing in the UCB.
  11:44am green mountain man mark:

I tried to find some dry ice for halloween but nobody anywhere had any. I called a gas company and they had none but could make me a couple blocks of compressed CO2. The blocks did not work as well as dry ice does.
  11:46am f☄f☄:

Rosko's Gift is a must.
  11:46am Honey Water:

Thanks, Caryn!
  11:47am mo:
