@SIR LANCELOTT PRATT
Not sure what you're referring to. I don't think Tony has any such symbol on his playlist page. Things are a little confusion on playlist pages for these streaming shows. The page is generated by WFMU playlist database and it comes with built-in links to hear the main WFMU broadcasts using different methods.
The authorities are aware of this confusion and a working on a new streaming-only show playlist page template.
Doug, when I initially turned to the page I am sure there was no ' Click HERE to listen along!'
If it was there just prior to the show then its my mistake, I could'nt find it. If not then it must have been added after the show started so losing me a good 5 mins of the start of the show?
Jeff glad you played this GYBE, because I was heavily into them (and Do Me Say Think) in the mid noughties but somehow lost touch after that!
Sound great now, is this their best album for some time?
After reading a ton of reviews of this GY!BE album that all amounted to "meh," this track is doing it for me just fine. Reviewers of the world, lighten up, eh?
@SLP
Yup, you're right about that. I think when you first opened this playlist page, it wasn't LIVE yet. Once the playlist was made "live," that link appeared. When you said "audio symbol," I was imagine some glowing, throbging fluorescent G-clef of something (which would be a GREAT idea....)
@Sir Lancelot: Sorry about the lack of a "click here" link; was a little slow in setting that up this morning/afternoon/what time is it. I think this is GYBE's best in a while by default, as they hadn't released anything for several years before this one... We dig it, though!
Btw: Ratko Mladić is a Bosnian Serb former military leader accused of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. On 31 May 2011, Mladić was extradited to The Hague, where he was processed at the detention center that holds suspects for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. His trial formally began in the Hague on 16 May 2012.

No Doug I was frantically searching for a way to listen to the show. More confusingly are all those Flash/MP3 tags. Why are they there if they don't refer to GtDRadio?
BSI - totally agree with your comment about reviewers of GYBE. Seems there were to many average reviews of their stuff in about 2005 onwards in Music mags Mojo and The wire in the UK.
It put me off them big time.
I think some of it is lazy journalism due to Godspeed inspiring a slew of pale imitators .... but you can't fault these blokes for that. The 'skinny fists' album will hold up like an infinite classic for ages.
@SLP
In a previous comment, above, I splained that those confusing "Flash" "128k MP3" etc etc links are there because they are generated by WFMU's standard playlist template, which is designed for programs on the main broadcast channel, not the additional streams, like GTDR.
It IS as confusing as hairy hell and will hopefully be addressed soon. Currently, WFMU playlist database guru Kenzo is up to his earballs in launching WFMU's new Friendship Society thingy. So sorry about the confusion.
Its seems there are trends in music like fashion.
GSYBE, seems to have gone out of fashion in the mid Noughies.
Likewise avant hip hop such as Clouddead, Anti Con etc. were extremely popular in the early Noughties, only to be considered totally naf in the mid to end of the decade!
Oh, yeah, that unfortunate audio link issue on the Give the Drummer Radio stream will get fixed soon. The only reason it hasn't yet been done is just that it hasn't yet been done. For the longest time, it was because nobody remembered to ask! A couple of weeks ago, I remembered to ask myself. Now I just have to answer.
Kenzo: if there was any justice in the world, there would be a velvet portrait of YOU in that hallway at FMU. With a gilded frame with one of those teeny lights at the top, etc...
by the way Kenzo, (if you are still there and are willing to talk to me after my last comment)
can't get the favourite track star icon to work. I press it, it then takes me to another page asking go head and make it favourite or unfavourite. Press the star again and nothing happens?
@Sir Lancelot Pratt: I'll bet you're using Internet Explorer. The favoriting functionality is indeed currently broken in many versions of IE. It works in Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome.
Yeah: there was a Mingus box from Mosaic (track coming up); the Nat Hentoff Sessions of Cecil Taylor (ditto) and Mingus (basically all their Candid Recs stuff); the Miles Davis official bootleg release (vol. 1)... others feel free to chime in!
