Cecile, what are the symptoms of walking pneumonia? Sorry to hear you've got some crud.
  10:35am

Brian in UK, Love's "Forever Changes" is a favorite. Believe it or not, I just discovered it about 10 years ago.
Avatar 10:38am
Cecile:

You cough like a mo-fo for no reason. Fever. It masquerades as bronchitis, but is worse. I went in right away. It is milder than regular. It's also called atypical pneumonia because you are getting a lung infection from different, but less evil germs.
Avatar 10:39am
Cecile:

Mark, whenever you discover Forever Changes is the right time for you. Great album.
  10:41am
Mark:

Cecile, I was obsessed with it during the summer of '04. Like I haven't been obsessed with an album since I was 14 years old. Played it every day for about 2 months. It was insane.
Avatar 10:42am
Cecile:

that sounds like me, the Stooges Fun House and 1988-90. hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am
Brian in UK:

Gotcha Mark. Still sounds fresh forty five years later. The Bonzoes messed it up as We are normal and we did Bert Weedon. He wrote a book called something like learn guitar in a day. Eric Clapton amongst others were avid learners.
  10:45am
Mark:

"Fun House" is another good one. Rhino did a re-issue about 15 years ago with every take, studio chatter, etc. It's out of print now, but I'd still like to track it down. It was about $100, but I'm sure it's much less used. For fanatics (like us) only. That's the album that got them dropped by Elektra.
Avatar 10:50am
northguineahills:

Haven't seen any u-ziq in about 14 years. I know he still makes music.
Avatar 10:50am
Cecile:

You can listen to a lot of it on Kenny G's archive show. He was doing a Ron Asheton tribute. And didn't know who Ron Asheton was. It was great radio and classic Kenny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am
tim from champaign:

Thanks for the explanation, Cecile. I'd always heard of walking pneumonia but didn't know what it was.

Big Star and the late 60s/early 70s Kinks are my better late than never bands.
Avatar 10:55am
Cecile:

it took me this long to figure out Wire.
Avatar 10:55am
Cecile:

I am kicking myself for not listening to pirate dance radio in this city in the 90s, and buying every 12" they played.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am
tim from champaign:

The first time I saw Ron Asheton play guitar was when he joined Sonic Youth for an encore of I Wanna Be Your Dog. After about 5 minutes he started giving SY a "OK guys, let's wrap up this shit" dirty look. It was great.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am

I'd like to re-work LCD Soundsystem's "Losing My Edge" as "Gaining My Edge". "I was there/In 2012/listening to class Detroit house from the 90s/and kicking myself/for not listening to it sooner"
Avatar 11:02am
Ike:

Cecile, a dance pirate? Around NYC/NJ, pirates playing anything other than Latin, reggae, overmodulated Haitian shouting, or *maybe* hip-hop or Orthodox Jewish is unthinkable and exotic. A dance pirate would be a very nice change.

Ike @11:02, we had a pirate radio station out of someone's apartment called Beat Radio. They were all working DJs on the cutting edge of everything. I tuned in a few times and loved it, The FCC shut em down for no license, even though they had tried forever to get one.
