A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Good morning Trouble! Lotsa nice shapes in today's art. Speaking of art, I managed to see "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" at the Met before it closed. Did you know that part of the show was a recreation of the BATHROOM AT CBGB's?!?!?! Too funny.

re: PUNK exhibit at metrop museum. it was sorta fun, sorta depressing (that whole co-opting thing). as for the cbgb's bathroom, i suggested to people that they enter it & wash their hands in the sink. or brush their teeth. or, use the toilet if they're adventurous.

To me, the bathroom recreation was missing profanity scrawled on it and the SMELL. Overall, it was very surreal and odd to see it there. Flipside was seeing the Ken Price sculptures. SO great!

Jennique, my mom and I both loved those Ken Price sculptures. I'm glad she was in town at the right time to see them. We skipped the punk exhibit. It sounded like a cheap attempt to re-create the success of the Alexander McQueen exhibit.

@Ike: I thought I read that Ken Price layered the colors on his sculptures and sanded them off to get the layered swirly look to them. Genius. I agree about the Alexander McQueen tie in. Since I missed McQueen, I went to PUNK and heard that they even kept the decor of one of the rooms the same. Kinda lame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am

It would be a little ironic if Pete is moving to NYC after that song. Every new NYer goes through it. The ones who can't cut it leave, and the ones who can, stay. It's kind of self-selecting that way.

Life is hard. Should I keep the Apple Pie Jam I bought for myself on a trip, or give it to the neighbors who did me the favor (again) of taking in my newspapers and my trash/recycle containers? I forgot to pick something else up for them. Of course, once I've brought the question/choice up at all....they'll win. We doin' all the good we can.
