@tim: How is time kept BY astronauts you mean? I would think probably ITC time on Earth (unaffected by local DSTs, it's 20:41 Z time right now).

Other planets and satellites would have their own days/nights/years, so I would think a "stellar date" (as perceived at the Federation's mission control or something) would be the intergalactic standard on all ships and planets.

Scott Williams:

Matt, I see what you mean. My star went away, but the song stayed favorited. I'll take it to the Kenzo Powers
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

@doca/Marshall: There would be a standard delay in transmissions from Earth to Mars to calculate, plus that time doesn't run at the same "pace" everywhere (as per the Theory of Relativity), and with different days and years on Mars, the WFMU schedule could be calculated, but it would be all over the friggin map, not on the same time or day each Earth week.
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 3:53pm

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Matt: Next time your clicky star seems to disappear - let it be. A minute or so later, does it come back?

There is an illusion of star disappearance that happens. Stardom is (or isn't) ephemeral.
Avatar 4:02pm
doca:

@Marshall/Mfs: I thought the delay between Earth and Mars would be longer, but even counting the delay, by what reference would a Universal Time between Earth and Mars be established?
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 4:02pm
tim from champaign:

That's really terrible about Yellow Dogs. I can only imagine that the band members potentially risked jail time or death by playing western style music in Tehran. Then to keep their drive and passion alive by emigrating to the U.S. to keep playing only to be murdered over something they loved. That's really tragic.
Avatar 4:02pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

P.S. What timezones are your dreams in?
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nice avatar Kenzo!
I refreshed my page, and the stars are staying! But when my stars go away, it doesn't log the song as Favorited; Scott's stars were going away but they were still Faved for him. Well, so long as my stars are permanent now and not ephemeral. Thanks!

I think we all should proactively switch to Kenzo time. It's already ready for time-shifting, so a step ahead of relativity. For instance, now would be Scott+65, we'd have to come up with the right way of saying that

Matt from Springfield:

@fred: Ah, you mean the start of Scott's show + 65 minutes? (69 now) :)

If someone (say, Bill Zurat) was filling in for this block, you could say "Bill Zurat vice Scott+65".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
fred:

@Matt: it happens, I think there's a lag related to the DJ maybe entering additional information. I guess it should be permanent once the next track is displayed. The track shows up in your favorites though, sometimes with an empty star
Avatar 4:13pm
steve:

its almost half past Scott
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
fred:

@Matt: of course, schedule changes could make it hard to keep track of time over longer periods. Then there are fill-ins and archives and alternate streams. But Kenzo's show has been a great trying ground for time-warping experiments
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
Matt from Springfield:

@doca: Well because of the Theory of Relativity, 180 minutes on Earth might run at a different "pace" on Mars, but as long as the difference is a consistent, mathematical factor of Earth's time, a "universal time" between two planets could be calculated. Basically a "converter" that outputs Earth time and the equiv Mars time as the same value.
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

@fred: That's for sure! Kenzo has freed us from the burden of being on time, and shifts things around for us! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
fred:

@steve: I thought of that, but how can it be "past" Scott when Scott is still on the air?
Avatar 4:16pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

OK, the tech talk segment of Scott's playlist.

It's all about this gap period after a DJ changes the artist, track or album of a song you already favorited. You don't lose the favorite (it follows the DJ's edit), BUT your view of the playlist which hasn't yet reloaded is still displaying the old artist/track/album, and thinks it isn't a favorited song, or an existing song at all. As soon as your playlist view refreshes (might be a minute later), and the new artist/track/album is displayed, your star reappears, as your favorite was not really lost.

The problem is going to go away when the whole notion of the reloading page goes away, semi-soonish.

ON THE OTHER HAND, if you're really actually losing your favorite, I need to know (although I can imagine it has to do with a DJ deleting and recreating a song, which I can confirm if you give me an instance of it happening).
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

...I finally calmed down re ☆s not filling in ('sticking') - but still going to my (oversized) 'Favorites'
- but honestly it does make it harder to keep track which song in a still updating set you did or didn't want to ☆ if they doesn't 'fill in'...a minor inconvenience in a function that...*no* other station even has...
