Meghan: the special new studio tip is that CD2 (you know, the new slow player everyone loves to hate) is almost certainly the best sounding - so if you have some CD you know was beautifully recorded and mastered and can sound awesome, and want all your radio friends to enjoy every delicious bit of it, bite the bullet and reach for Commander Slow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
Meghan:

Ha! I know why everyone hates it too! you never know if you have something paused fully!

...and the red button on the console doesn't just always mean "start", it toggles between play and pause, because that's how they chose to have the controls work.

Because you can't have good without some bad to balance it. That's, like, the rules of the universe.

JakeGould:

Bullshit. Wipe CDs on your t-shirt.
  10:01pm
P-90:

Yayyyyyyyy......! Legal ID: Priceless.
  10:04pm
?:

You need to be careful with CDs. According to the Internet, you should not use water. Use only a microfiber cloth. Wipe the CD from the inner hole outward in gentle strokes. The strokes should be linear, not circular. Hold the edges of the CD to avoid leaving fingerprints. It is often best to give the CD one or two beers before doing this.
  10:05pm
P-90:

@ Jake: that's exactly why I wrote "jeans", because "wipe it off on your shirt" sounded like a slightly coarse suggestion to make to a lady

@P-90: You know what I miss about CRT TVs? When I would get up and wipe my t-shirt on the tube to clean it. I work in I.T. now. Pro-tip.

Tread the mere raw punk
  10:11pm
P-90:

Ahhh, gone are the days....I wish I had a buck for every time I saw a dude (maybe even my Dad) wipe off a picture tube with his shirt.
Those CRT's were real dust magnets, remember, because of the static charge that would collect on the glass.

Yes killer show

Meghan you should sub evening slots more often

It would relieve my stress of getting up early to hear your show!

So... excuse me for being unfamiliar with past Themes.

Did you ever do pop songs in a minor key? Because that would be pretty awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm

oh I haven't...... I am still trying to figure out how to do a theme about Morse Code!
  10:39pm

Sky Saxon:

Wyld!
  10:44pm
P-90:

There are certain Motown songs that have what they call "SOS-style" rythm guitar, if that's not too esoteric. Some songs have snippets of Morse in them, like at the end of "London Calling"....
--that theme IS a challenge
  10:45pm

and Wire of course
  11:22pm
P-90:

Bet you'd find some rich pickings. Indonesia is vast and has a lot of different countries/cultures, like Africa.
The Africa days were great, by the way, that was epic! --and very much appreciated.
I miss the Africa days on UWTP, every week was a small revelation...

isn't Polynesian music psychedelic by it's very nature?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm

My daughter is at Barnard studying French and Arabic languages. We both loved your series. I await your premium CD which will be a birthday present to her. The series deserves a much wider audience. Music is a great introduction to other cultures which we might otherwise only hear about through tales of violence. Hearing the music of others brings us closer to them as people like ourselves, not just villains portrayed in the news. Thanks again Meghan for all you do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm

awwww shucks. I should have had her on to help me pronounce the names of some of those songs!

listening to underwater theme park while watching roller derby and eating bagel bites, good times
  11:38pm
P-90:

@ Terry & DJ Meghan: You mention your daughter at school-- I was just thinking that the Africa tour was like taking a course, a class one went to once a week for x weeks, and got a systematic introduction to the subject
  11:44pm
KP:

Well you got me out of that restaurant and within earshot but it's a little late
