Hi Tony and gang!

Doug Schulkind:

I once (sort of) performed with Tiny Tim. He used to hire himself out as an emcee. He would travel around to college campuses and get gigs hosting local talent shows. The organizers would give him some cursory notes on the various acts, then he would intro each performance while doing is shtick before, in between, and after each.

The only thing I can really recall from the event: He was a powerfully unbathed-smelling individual.

Heya, V Priceless!

@ Doug - "the powerfully unbathed" - new band name of the week!

Powerfully Unbathed were excellent! At least their early stuff—before they sold out.
Avatar 12:11pm

... before they cleaned up their act?

@ DCE - agreed 100% @ Doug - yeah, the pre-soap & water era ruled!

Sounds like Tiny Tim should have spent more time tiptoeing through the tulips!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Artie:

I would testify in court that the theme music from Plants vs. Zombies was a straight lift from the opening of this Heratius Corporation piece.
Avatar 12:28pm
Tony Coulter:

Hola, Artie! I will call my lawyer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm

Speaking of Jad, is anyone here contemplating a trip to this year's Shakemore? Mulling, mulling...

I heard Powerfully Unbathed eventually shortened their name to P.U.

Robert Plant vs. Colin Blunstone?

Howdy Tony & all! Today's Fun-To-Know Fact: future Moog-meister Mort Garson is the man behind this Ruby & The Romantics tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm

I wanna know which keyboard player and which producer ruined the Roches album.
Avatar 12:59pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, MrFab! That is a fun fact!!
Avatar 1:01pm

wow, good one Mr Fab
Avatar 1:01pm

@ UM: It's some kind of really horrible-sounding digital synth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Uncle Michael:

It's Larry Fast. I used to have a Larry Fast album.
Avatar 1:04pm
Tony Coulter:

Jeffrey Lesser (whoever that is) is the producer to blame....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
Uncle Michael:

Jeffrey Lesser, the producer, has a credit for vocals. Vocals...on a Roches album. I guess their blend was missing something.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm

Helluva mix this first freeform hour! Smashing!
Avatar 1:06pm
Tony Coulter:

Thank you, kind sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Rich in Washington:

I was just reading the credits on that Roches album - multiple credits for 'synthesizer' - maybe to spread the blame around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
DCE:

gotta find this Sonorhc reissue.
Avatar 1:08pm
Tony Coulter:

@ DCE: It's really fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Rich in Washington:

The 80s was an awful era for keyboards - so many horrid sounding synths, FM synthesis synths, horrible samplers like the Fairlight CMI
Avatar 1:11pm
V Priceless:

Make Mine Mellotron! Though much respect for Larry Fast for Synergy, and his work w/Gabriel and Nektar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Uncle Michael:

The worst synth stuff might have been in the '70s. Bread's "London Bridge," for example.
  1:18pm
MrFab:

I'll bet it's a Yamaha DX7 on the Roches album: the '80s keyboard from hell, esp. the dreaded 'electric piano' setting.
I'm not ready to blame Larry Fast, he was still doing great stuff on Peter Gabriel's albums...tho I had a Herbie Hancock album (w/Foday Musa Suso) album ruined by the DX7, and you'd think he'd have known better...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Uncle Michael:

Oh, Tony...this is so good.
  1:20pm

woah this EB tune is great

I thought Dave Thomas.

Just got here. Greetin's, peeple.
...what's all this about the Yamaha DX7? That damned thing was everywhere. Every band on earth in the '80s had one free in their "Yay, New Band!" pack...
