Hanging out for a bit until the GF is ready for a Trader Joe's run. Play the good stuff first! :)

Hello, all! Gary, is your TJ's one of those that carries their line of wine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am
Gary:

Well, James, if we go to the one on 14th Street there's a whole TJ wine store right next door to the market proper

No wine at our Trader Joe's, but plenty of whine.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:01pm

Gary: Convenient! My local TJ's doesn't have a liquor license, but they're next to a big A&P wine store, so almost no point in competing.

I remember driving by a Trader Joe's on the Lower East Side when I was in NYC in January. There was a separate TJ's wine store adjacent to it. Shoot, here in California I can't imagine a TJ's without wine and beer!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:02pm

Doug, our TJ's only has whining when there are insufficient samples out. (The whiner may or may not be me.)
Jeff, that would be the refrain of the Bizarro Walken.

Meaningless apostrophes were the mid-'60s rock band equivalent of heavy metal umlauts -- they just looked cool.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm

@βrian: It should be "une apostrophe" and "une catastrophe". French annoyingly insists on gendering everything, and these two were deemed female

Don't be so diacritical

I'm kinda fond of plosives myself. Diacritics are OK, it's the combining ones that drive me nuts

I always wanted to read that, Jeff. I saw her band in 1987 or 88. The Pixies opened. At the Eye Beam in San Francisco. Kristen was so amazing, her head flipping side to side as she sang.

Though combining diacritics are the only way I know to write the Spinal Tap umlaut (and of course I can't pull it off today)
