Hey, the link said I'd find nude pics of Ken Vandermark and Matt Shipp. What gives?

Hey, listener james, and Anon. Welcome!

I am enjoying a Labor Day weekend of doing jack-diddly-shit. August was a very busy, weekend-less month. Glad for an island of calm. Hope all USians on the board are enjoying their Mondays off, too, and those outside the States are slacking off in solidarity.

Hey, UM. How do you keep up this pace? Gonna need to lie down soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm

What pace is that, Jeff?
Avatar 12:16pm

We're turning the adventurous and the jazz inside-out for this show, UM.

So, guys, let me start asking you. I have a friend who just went to NY to stay a year while on a Fullbright scholarship. I have the plan to visit him. Is it better in late February during the WFMU marathon or in May to catch up the Record Fair? (I'll have classes from March to July, so that's why I'm considering going in the winter)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Uncle Michael:

I haven't heard this Hoodoo Gurus since...maybe the year it came out.

Hey DOCA! Glad it's feeling holiday-ish there. As for NYC, you want to come when the weather is better if you can swing it and the Record Fair is a nice bonus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Jeff Golick:

@doca: I second what Jeff J said, re NY in May vs Feb.
Avatar 12:24pm

You might not have got it over your way in the 60/70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Uncle Michael:

It was. The show itself was amazing. It was 4 and a half hours of non-stop music...though everyone but the drummer got at least one break. It was a New Years Eve concert in a big place with tables and chairs and champagne and finger food. There was a dance floor and things like portrait setups so people could get photographed with their dates. It was like prom...for 40 year-old black people. I don't think there were a dozen white folks there. I wore my vintage sharkskin suit an my wife looked pretty good too. Danced, danced, danced and sweat right through that suit. it was the best time.
