A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Apparently Trouble thinking about Sarah makes it sound like WFMU's record library had been replaced with mine :)
  11:08am
JakeGould:

Ahhh, power pop of the 1990s. What a weird era in indie world. Because some of the power pop was truly a mix of rock and pop. But then there came… “Twee”… And that designation, “Twee”… That makes me—and others—nauseous.
Avatar 11:08am
Chris from DC:

Yep, Springfields were pre-Velvet Crush weren't they?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am
Trouble:

probably john: there is very little sarah in the record library here, we are listening to mostly my stuff. sadly there are HUGE gaps in the record library and i blame that on the gap b/w british and american music: weird and arbitrary gaps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am

Hello Trouble. The magnolia trees are in full bloom and what a picture. So far the wind and rain have not hurried the leaves departure from the branches. Spring is really here.

Missed Dom La Nena last night, sad to say. I heard it was a fun show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am

that sounds gorgeous brian in uk!! i adore magnolia trees, used to have a huge one in my backyard until my idiot neighbor chopped it. and an idiot on other side wacked down his row of forsythia. what is wrong with them? cretins
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am
Trouble:

polyus: so sorry to hear. she is very performative live, had people in the aisles dancing and giving out awards for the best dancers
  11:32am
JakeGould:

@Trouble: Curious, but when your tree-hating neighbors cut down their trees, did they just pave over their yard? I have seen a lot of that. Grew up in a crappy neighborhood in Brooklyn, but the gardens were really nice because people appreciated them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am
Brian in UK:

We have the only tree left in our Road in what passes for a front garden.

Ooh, love this Bouquet song.

I have a small ceanothus tree that I'm rather fond of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am

jake: magnolia goofball is a weird old man who doesn't want to do yard work. forsythia idiot owned house and didnt live there so he had no idea how magical that blast of yellow bloom was to a color starved world. no paving nothing was put in its place=cretins

Is this Blossom Dearie singing en francais? Fantastique! Two great tastes that taste great together.
  11:56am
JakeGould:

@AndrewC.: It completely depends on where you are located and what you want. So if there is a greenhouse or something similar nearby, best ask them. Ditto with neighbors. Might also want to check if your neighbors are jerks or not because fruit tends to fall past “property lines” and people take that personally when they have nothing better to do.

  11:58am
JakeGould:

@Trouble: Fig trees are great. The do need more care in the winter months. Don’t fig tree owners have to prune the branches and cover the tree in a tarp to deal with the winters? That’s why one can see tarp wrapped trees in some neighborhoods in the winter.
