	3:42pm Toddophonic: Have never seen The Who, but those going might be encouraged by the fact that someone at The Egg Harbor Elks Lodge on Saturday night (night after nearby Atlantic City show) claimed that Daltrey must have had a blood transfusion because he had energy. Lucky for me, the one Bowie show I saw (ironically in Atlantic City) was on what might have been his last tour where he played mostly all "A" material (5 or 6 songs from Hunky Dory, opened with "Rebel Rebel", did "All The Young Dudes", "Pablo Picasso" etc.).

	4:22pm Ira: This song is going to go on for so long that even I have time to comment. I saw the Who once, at Madison Square Garden. Keith Moon's last show with them in NYC. They did an encore, which was a big deal. But I wasn't half as excited to see the Who as I was to see the Move's Trevor Burton in the opener, Steve Gibbons Band. (I'll take Half Japanese at Folk City over both of them!)

The original was in a movie, sung by Al Jolson (hence the reference in the toon) and Cab Calloway, who serenade each other from out in front of penthouses across the street from each other. Cab just happens to have his orchestra out on the patio with him. Typical morning in Manhattan.

At the Fichburg show I guess Nirvana was practicing for The Unplugged gig for MTV; After there first set they played acoustically,and it surpised everyone...;I yelled at Kurt [because it was almost silent for a moment] and screamed "You're Fucking Crazy Man!" [He looked very unhappy,and I was hoping he would take it the right way]. He looked at me straight in the eyes and says over the mic "The man's right" and gave a big smile. The only time he smiled for the whole 2 hour performance It made me feel good.True that.

That was the show where Scott Weiland was arrested for beating the daylaights out of this poor kid for throwing a sneaker at him.He's a freak.The Surfer's kicked ass.Gibby Hanes came out with a shotgun and starts shooting blanks at the crowd!. LOL.

	5:09pm glenn: apparently, at a who show last week, roger threatened to walk off the stage if people didn't stop smoking weed. now THAT'S rock and roll.

It freaks me out that so many people took offense to his remark, when the band has a huge video presentation, pre-show, that includes a request that peeps not 'indulge' for the sake of Roger's vocal health. Rather, they half-jokingly suggest that all weed be eaten - or as PT suggested to the few oblivious a-holes who continued to indulge under threat of Roger's voice shutting down, "shove it up yer arse!"

	5:23pm V Priceless: No biggie, glenn - I was fortunate enough to be at this now-legendary (haha) show! Daltrey could care less about pot smoke, were he not under some pretty severe doctor's orders. He said they can't do back-to-back shows for the sake of his vocal health!

	5:23pm chris: i'd like to offer a contrary view of Roger's no smoking request: go to hell. he's there to entertain, not to be demanding.... and if he can't entertain, then he can rest on his well deserved laurels with all the income coming in from selling out the advertising engine.

Well that's OK then...;I thought when I heard the news that he was making an excuse or something [Thinking to myself "How many show has Roger done Flawless over 40 years or something in stuffy Pot filled venues?"..WTF?]. Don't get me wrong though, The Who are my Fave Rock and Roll Band Period; BUT they should have hung it up after Keith died...PERIOD; Nevermind after John died!, I lost some respect for Townshend after that.
	5:27pm chris: i was at a small show recently where Richard Thompson was doing all requests. he demanded that all requests be written down and actually, seriously, scolded some folks who shouted out requests... while i understand the sentiment and the order, i'm thinking, wow... i guess you know you're old when you become the guy you used to rail against... "hope i die before i get old."

	5:32pm Listener Robert: Back when I had a car, i.e. 2008 or earlier, those fuckers at 91.3 had to be somewhere in the vicinity of Burke Ave. A few years previously I'd driven around w a pocket receiver (so I could orient the ant.) & found a weaker pirate (I forgot the freq, might've been 90.9) that pretty much had to be upstairs in NE Parkchester w vertical polariz'n -- near Castle Hill Ave. & Tremont Ave. I communicated w Ken about it at the time. That pirate was less serious, wasn't on air most of the time.

	5:35pm daver: Hey Ira, I was at that Who show at MSG in 1976. The encore was indeed pretty underwhelming after yelling for half an hour, but I thought the show proper was thrilling, at least once Moon had pepped himself up backstage during the beginning of Behind Blue Eyes. My addled high school memory deceiving me, no doubt. Fun to know you were there too. Great show today, sir!
	5:36pm Listener Robert: The awkward part with those Burke Ave. vicinity guys was when I heard one DJ who was also a guest performer on I forgot whose show on WFMU.
	5:38pm Ĩkє: Very cool, @LR. Would love to be able to dox all those illegal FMU-scrambling jerks if I could, but ain't got the skills. Sadly the Flatbush 90.9, "Radyo Independans," is more serious than the 90.9 you found, and hurts FMU badly.

	5:39pm Carmichael: Speaking of geezers, I saw Deep Purple last summer. Ian Gillan looked to be in VERY good physical shape, and hit the high notes flawlessly. Pretty good for 70. And it helped that Steve Morse was doing all the guitar parts.
	5:39pm V Priceless: Daltrey said that out of the hundreds of comedians he's met throughout his career, Moon was the most brilliant of them all.

	5:41pm Listener Robert: But the 91.3 wiped out WFMU continuously, made it unlistenable unless I got south of Tremont Ave. or west of Sedgwick Ave., whereupon intervening terrain was higher. So I rarely could listen to WFMU until I got cx I could listen to streams via w/o tying up my phone. AFAIK, 91.3 is still there, commercially sponsored & all.

Lucky for me, the one Bowie show I saw (ironically in Atlantic City) was on what might have been his last tour where he played mostly all "A" material (5 or 6 songs from Hunky Dory, opened with "Rebel Rebel", did "All The Young Dudes", "Pablo Picasso" etc.).

(I'll take Half Japanese at Folk City over both of them!)

The only time he smiled for the whole 2 hour performance It made me feel good.True that.

That pirate was less serious, wasn't on air most of the time.
