Definitely something I had a difficult time wrapping my head around at the time. I remember reading a review of the first Bad Co album - the reviewer said that the record sound a little bit like Mott the Hoople, a bit like Free, and a bit like Crimson in btween the songs.... is this thing on?

Guido from Cologne:

After a decent heat-wave we had a week of surprisingly chilly days.
We had to wear jackets.
It's a weather rundabout.
  12:51am

@Bill: Yeah, I saw that rain in Brooklyn myself. Lots of rain but no cool. Damned low pressure system fail.

Avatar 12:52am
Bill Mac:

@Guido - it hasn't gotten that cool here... expecting hot stuff next week...
  12:56am
JakeGould:

@Guido: The thing about NYC/NJ at this time of year is the humidity is nuts. There were a few days in the 80F degree range last week that were great because they weren’t humid. But even a 75F degree day with humidity is miserable here.

Doesn't Ken joke about needing a whole trailer for all the Ennio M. records? It's right next to the Jandek trailer and the Sun Ra trailer.

It's Bill Mac! Hooray!

Earlier today, the Knuckles painting was being packed up to go to its new home; tonight Bill is on the air. I have no idea what it means, but it means SOMETHING.

Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis both pursue Marilyn Monroe. Tony Curtis woos her by pretending to be a rich yacht owner and aping a really bad Cary Grant impression. Good movie...
Avatar 1:14am
Jeff:

And there's a train and musical instruments.
Avatar 1:15am
Bill Mac:

@Jeff - So it's finally going to its new owner... I saw it on Sunday and thought it was staying... oh well, we got a lot of mileage out of that didn't we? Knuckles will live in the hearts of listeners... and in my avatar...
  1:16am
JakeGould:

Yeah, but all of those pieces of the film didn’t add up for me. I hated the film. So anyway, Jay/London what”s your point?
Avatar 1:23am
Bill Mac:

Pieces? What do you want them to add up to?
Avatar 1:29am
Jay/London:

as it's a hot night and not much sleep i watched it again
i think it's a classic

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am
Guido from Cologne:

It is common metaphor in UK I guess.
"the antipodes"
(opposite sifde of the earth)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am
pacific standard simon:

Yeah, just means 'on the opposite side of the Earth from civilization'. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am
Brian in UK:

Greek fpr opposite, so opposite side of world to UK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am
pacific standard simon:

From Latin, from Ancient Greek ἀντίποδες (antípodes), from ἀντί (antí, “opposite”) + πόδες (pódes), plural of πούς (poús, “foot”). From Wiktionary.

Stanley, that's another of my favorite comedies.
Avatar 2:28am

I do like Young Frankenstein, but to put Mel Brooks at the same level of comic genius as Monty Python is crazy, don't you think? THOSE movies were a revelation to me when I first saw them. Those guys were out of there minds.
  2:28am
JakeGould:

I think “Bride of Frankenstein” is great and ditto with Scorsese’s “After Hours”. Personal taste. That’s it. And no, I will not see “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Thanks.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am

Bill, Young Frankenstein and Monty Python And The Holy Grail pretty much defines my idea of a perfect double-bill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33am
Stanley:

Marx brothers, Laurel and Hardy, Police Squad, I'm a sucker for a bit of cornball. On the question of Monty Python, I did think they tried too hard sometimes. And another thing, it wasn't difficult to be 'wacky' in those days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33am
