hello Faye! looking forward to a beautiful show.

Faye:

hi wolfie! hi mark! hi Linda!
  7:04pm
JakeGould:

Hello. This is some dark music to start the show off with. Not too shabby!
  7:05pm
Ahmad:

Nice. More archival Patrick Cowley. Loved School Days.
P.S. Good evening Faye and Children!
  7:05pm
Linda Lee:

@JakeGould ... love it! cheerfully dark.
  7:07pm
Ahmad:

And this is considerably less dark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm

@Ahmad You think so?

hello Faye:-) such a pleasure to hear your show. i bought a special radio just to pick up wfmu loud & clear

Konbanwa @DJ Faye and all her Children out there in the Global Radio Village!
  7:11pm
P-90:

No gif again this week? awww...
  7:12pm
JakeGould:

@P-90: Gifs are gifts. They are special things that come when they come, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
Faye:

sorry i have been completely void of creativity for the past month. i hope it comes back one day but I can't guarantee anything
  7:17pm
Linda Lee:

truly love violeta vil. love. amazing.
  7:17pm
Mark R:

This Violeta Vil track is the best use of echo I've heard in a long time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Faye:

wasn't that great
  7:20pm
Linda Lee:

@Mark R .. so easy to lose control of the echo & let it get sloppy. VV handle it right.
  7:20pm
Ahmad:

The lack of a question mark had me thinking you were saying that it wasn't that great for a second.
  7:20pm
Mark R:

Am I the only one who hears a lot of Debbie Harry on this Cold Beat track? (I mean that as a compliment.) And yes, Violeta Vil was indeed GREAT. I must confess I'm not familiar with this artist. Nor anyone else on tonight's playlist. All this good music that I never heard of until YOU, Faye. Don't underestimate your creativity--your show is a great example of it.
  7:22pm
JakeGould:

@MarkR: Yup. Some of their tracks also strike me as a bit Go-Go’s-esque.
  7:23pm
Mark R:

If some non-English speaking person asks you what the word "frantic" means, play them C.C.T.V.
  7:24pm
Mark R:

Your show is cracking me up tonight, Faye. All these 2:00 tracks keep the DJ on her toes.
  7:24pm
Linda Lee:

wow .. excellent set so far! my my my.
  7:24pm
JakeGould:

@Faye: Regarding creativity. I go through waves of being creative in different things/mediums/whazzits. Like writing will be a big thing for me one month, visual arts another and then maybe even coding another… It all comes is waves. So hey.
  7:26pm
Linda Lee:

DJ is nothing if not creative! & totally on the fly, off the cuff & in the spirit
Avatar 7:31pm
listener mark:

It just so happens, I have a 3 inch by 3 inch canvass I have to fill in. The theme is the Hudson River. The only medium I know is elmer's glue and glitter.
  7:35pm
JakeGould:

@listenermark: 3x3 inch canvas? What is that for? Some “let’s all make tiny works of art and sell them for $40” shows?
Avatar 7:35pm
listener mark:

Bingo!
Avatar 7:38pm
listener mark:

And $25 to enter, and I'll have to buy someone's art so they buy my art. It's all vaguely artistically ambiguous, but I get to say I sold some art.
  7:39pm
Linda Lee:

listener mark .. glue/glitter sounds great for the river. especially with a little dust
  7:43pm
JakeGould:

@listenermark: Sounds like a Pyramid scheme.
  7:43pm
Linda Lee:

Avatar 7:47pm

Dark blue waves in the foreground and a grey sky with a bridge in the background. And a tiny little body floating face down in the water.
  7:48pm
JakeGould:

@listenermark: Draw two simple S-curves from the top right to the bottom left. Then set gitter in the center with glue. And just use some green paint on the space outside of that. Or better yet, get some shredded money and glue that for the “grass” on the side of the river. It will be a big statement on something.
  7:49pm
Ahmad:

This band's changed.

Tesco Bombers: music direct from my misspent youth. fun!! truly fantastic set.
  8:53pm
Ahmad:

I caught Wolf Eyes on Wednesday. They played three shapeless long-form jams; one of them had hints of this track in it. Pretty cool although I wish I had a couch to sit on.
  8:58pm
Linda Lee:

i wish you had too, Ahmad.
  8:59pm
Cooh John:

@Ahmad: I missed Wolf Eyes twice this year when they came to my town. Won't miss them next time.

'Hana' gave me an oddly enjoyable flashback to Jean Michel Jarre's 'Zoolook'. Which is a goldmine of a record for anyone wondering what 80s Bowie sidemen were doing when not making Bowie records sound horrible.

Cool show. "Hey, who wants to hear the new Grimes?" Me me me! That was fun to hear in the Trader Joe's while searching the ransacked shelves for rice and peanut butter in vain.
