@pete: No, earlier today, I think.

Here are tonight's visuals, ala Rich Hazleton. Almost four hours of images of Saturn from the Cassini spacecraft. graphics.wsj.com...

AM/PM? Who knew!
Avatar 10:26pm
Dave Mandl:

Hey there Carmichael, Jake.
@Jake: Apparently not a lot of people!
  10:29pm
JakeGould:

Ever explain to someone how a 24 hour clock can be calculated by subtracting 12 hours? It’s like a “life hack.” Also the sunset was great today but had to explain to someone this is the light we are seeing at dusk… They knew what dawn was but no clue on the dusk.

cheri:

good evening dave, am I still welcomed here?
Avatar 10:31pm
Dave Mandl:

@cheri: Of course. Everyone's welcome.
  10:31pm
Carmichael:

Tread carefully, cheri ... :)
  10:34pm
Carmichael:

Hey Dave, I saw Richard Thompson a few weeks ago. He opened for himself on acoustic, and was happy to be playing for such an esteemed headliner.
Avatar 10:35pm
Dave Mandl:

@Carmichael: Haha. But lucky you. I don't think I've ever seen him live.
Avatar 10:35pm
Dave Mandl:

@Jake: Yeah, that's odd. Dawn/dusk, they're a set.
  10:38pm
JakeGould:

@DaveMandl: When the big lunar eclipse happened, tons of people near me in Bay Ridge out on the street. When I explained to someone that the eclipse was the Earth passing in front of the Sun and casting a shadow on the Moon, some people were amazed. That’s when you realize there are people out there who truly believe in magic.
Avatar 10:40pm
Dave Mandl:

@Jake: Huh. I wonder what everyone thought was happening?
  10:44pm
JakeGould:

@DaveMandl: Magic? Some magical old man in the sky throwing a blanket on it. I’m generally nice and friendly to people in the neighborhood, but a few have opened up to me with their “ideas” on things and you start to wonder when/where did these ideas come from.
  10:45pm
Carmichael:

@Dave: you really need to put RT on your bucket list. Like hearing renbourn, jansch and graham, with a vicious sense of humor to boot.
Avatar 10:48pm
Dave Mandl:

@Carmichael: I agree.

Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

Hey there, Ike.

@Ike: Yo! How you be doing!
Avatar 11:03pm
Snortley:

@Jake: Of course, it is well known that no one can be elected to the office of US President unless they profess allegiance to a make-believe friend, and then the ceremony of their instatement must be opened by a witch doctor. In such a nation, no sort of popular ideas are surprising.

cheri:

dave and all, have a great week and a happy thanksgiving! thanks dave.

@jake: you should really move out of 18th century Budapest at the 1st opportunity.

have a good holiday cheri
  11:18pm
JakeGould:

@Snortley: Are you with us or against us?
  11:21pm
JakeGould:

@Carmichael: The neighborhood I live in nowadays has cheap rent, deep Catholic roots and a recent Muslim population. A mosque is near a movie theater. During the summer the folks from the mosque put up a sign right near the box office that read something like, “Life is like a movie: Do you know how yours will end?” This was when school buses filled with kids were going to see films. Stunning to me the deep contrast in mentality this one city can have in a 1/2 bus ride.
