She also writes intelligently about music for Pitchfork, the Oxford American, and The New York Times. Recently, she has started a series of articles for The New Yorker. Electric Blues tends to repete over and over rules and schemas while original Country Blues often enough doesn't care about rules at all. Skip James is a good example.
