Running a smidge over, Jesse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm
Doug Schulkind:

Which is way better than "running a smidge over Jesse."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm
listener james from westwood:

You'll lose your smidge license that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm
Doug Schulkind:

It's Kaminsky Koncerto!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
Gary:

I missed you, Doug :( ... but, in time for Jesse!
Avatar 7:08pm
Jesse K:

Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
Doug Schulkind:

I ran over Jesse with a smidge, Gary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm
Gary:

I saw that, Doug. Well, no, I didn't see it *happen*. I saw "that it" happened.
  7:13pm
Dean:

I always had the feeling that this was pre-Synergy, but nope. Larry Fast's first album was 1975.
Avatar 7:13pm
Jesse K:

I actually hate when people cherry pick movements out of larger pieces to play but here I am doing it anyway
Avatar 7:15pm
Jesse K:

@Dean, This was 1975 as well, I don't know the month though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm
Uncle Michael:

That Larry Fast album on clear vinyl fascinated me when I was a kid. I don't think I'd seen any non-black vinyl before that.
  7:17pm
Dean:

What you call cherry picking, Jesse, the world of classical programming calls "bleeding chunks," particularly w.r.t. Wagner.
  7:17pm
Dean:

I still can't find my copy of Synergy's Sequencer, UM. It should be right here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Doug Schulkind:

Most "classical" music stations make their selections mostly based on one thing: time. When they have 11 minutes and 22 seconds to fill, the find a piece that is 11 minutes and 22 seconds. Sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Gary:

I [heart] Maki
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Doug Schulkind:

PTAH!
Avatar 7:46pm
Jesse K:

That could be a cool approach if they had a super diverse library and didn't filter for genre. That might be a fun game, just make selections based on the time alone. Maybe not the greatest programming but could be accidentally brilliant
  7:48pm
Dean:

While I'm sure they, too, program by fitting pieces into the hour, I have to say I continue to enjoy KUSC, the classical station at USC. At least it's not "all Vivaldi, all the time," and while they do play the old warhorses, they also allow some DJs to venture out. I've learned a lot from them. The "bleeding chunks" issue also affects CD programming. So few people listen to entire Wagner operas in a sitting--I plead guilty, as charged--so the albums are designed to feature the "good parts" with the overweight singers, maybe a prelude or two.
Avatar 7:48pm
Jesse K:

Just checking itunes though, I have three songs that are 11:22 and I don't want to hear any of them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Uncle Michael:

I'm with Jesse. I'm pro-serendipity.
  7:49pm
Dean:

There's an app for that.
Avatar 7:54pm
northguineahills:

Although I've heard this Alice, I've never picked up on vinyl, such a sha,e.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
Uncle Michael:

I have 10 tracks that are 11:22 and only one of them isn't by the Grateful Dead.
  7:59pm
Dean:

This Coltrane tune is 13:58. That means you have to follow it up with Four Tet's Floating Points remix of Sing.
  8:00pm
Dean:

Or Mozart's Eight Variations On The Song "Ein Weib Ist Das Herrlichste Ding" From The Singspiel "Der Dumme Gärtner" By J. Schack Or F. Gerl, KV 613, performed by Bart van Oort.

(and obviously the last one is a spitball fight.)
Avatar 8:33pm

@coelacanth, all the photos are either termite mounds or meteorites. Some of the meteorites are cut in half but the rest are as found
