	8:17am Mailman Tom: I saw the Grateful Dead for the first time at the Fillmore East in June 1969. I've been a fan ever since. I'm interested in buying the book after hearing this show.
	8:18am Jack: in 1969 I bought the first 4 Dead albums, having never heard them (they were never played on the radio) I did not like them at all - too plinky, didn't rock hard like Hendrix, Cream, etc. - and then I took acid, and suddenly instantly the music made great sense and I loved it! to this day.

	8:26am Revolution Rabbit Nov63: 'American Beauty' was my gateway to the Dead - an album lacking nothing that makes Greatness. Musically - I think if (& only if) you get to pick & choose - hopefully w/ some informed assistance - you can become very much a Dead enthusiast. But - w/ the gushing firehose of Music available now - I very rarely choose it...or choose to sift thru it... I concluded that the definition of 'Folk Music' is anything you & someone else you might run into on the beach w/ a fire & a guitar might both know. The Dead were easily & notably - that. Even Punks you'd meet would know the Dead too...

	8:40am Revolution Rabbit Nov63: The Dead were paradoxically outside the Music Biz mainstream & their own Subculture to such a degree - they were/are simultaneously know to everyone as Folk Music - & left out of all Critical evaluations of Music History - even still if less than before...
	8:44am KP: Clarence White of the later Byrds had tremendous Bluegrass group called the Kentucky Colonels. They have a great live album at the Ash Grove and Jerry Garcia introduces them.
