Hallooo, Fox! fleep, you see picking through the FMU library has its advantages! I trust you, common, I think. I hope. I trust. Though this Politico piece might change things...
Avatar 10:14pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

Are you lot speaker knowledgeable? ("knowledgeable" always seems to have more letters than I think it does.)
Avatar 10:20pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

My dad just gave me some Misssion 737 speakers. I don't know what they sound like yet, because I can't find my speaker wire.
Avatar 10:21pm
geezerette:

Sound track to a nightmare. A cartoon nightmare. Not saying that's a bad thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm
Daniel Blumin:

Good luck, Fox! geezerette, as long as you get to wake up... and no longer hear the crackles!
Avatar 10:25pm
fleep:

Hey, Fuzzy Fox, those speakers are from 1985, so it depends on the condition of the cones, some degrade over time.
I not smart, I google www.hifiengine.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Tome:

at the risk of now sounding like the audio snob ,,, be gentle with those speakers,, don't go all bass, keep the tone controls "flat" ( base and or treble in the middle ) as far as wire goes NOT "telephone' wire minimum 16 gauge speaker wire , if the run is under 30 ft.. other wise 14 gauge ( lower gauge number is thicker wire )
Avatar 10:31pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

Tome, THANKS! I know nothing about equipment. So, preferably, I should keep the speaker wire shorter and of higher gauge, yes? Good, I can stop looking for my spool of speaker wire that I probably got from the dollar store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Tome:

don't have to be ie "monster cable" dollar store is FINE , you can get 16 gauge there if ver possible they are 30 year old speakers yes but ,, maybe you'll be lucky .. some of those old school speakers are GREAT ,, I've owned them before and miss that "sound"
Avatar 10:39pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

Fleep: thanks for the link!
Avatar 10:41pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

Tome: I am excited to listen to them! My dad gave me a bunch of his old records, too. I'm going to have to get over my fear of playing records, now!
Avatar 10:45pm
geezerette:

hahaha, the founding fathers would've cancelled the project if they'd heard this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
