I'm glad you didn't have trouble figuring out how to use it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am
Uncle Michael:

Yes, for realz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am
Jeff Golick:

Cool! The trickiest bit was changing a setting in Traktor (the program I use to play the actual music), so that it knew where to look for the incoming signal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am
Jeff Golick:

...or perhaps where to send it. I'm not 100% sure.

hi everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
Jeff Golick:

Hi there, @JtotheK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am
Andrew Waterloo:

Having Hamid on drums completely transformed Josh Abrams' ensemble.
  11:04am
Dean:

Drake also makes Pharaoh Sanders' Message From Home. Opening track is a doozy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am
Jeff Golick:

Got a party now! Hi, @Andrew Waterloo! Hey, @Dean!
  11:15am
Dean:

G'morning. Imagine the dread one feels tuning in amid a set of eight tracks in a row featuring Hamid Drake. Nice idea, celebrating birthdays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am
Jeff Golick:

That thought did occur to me, @Dean. Akin to the terror of "Why is so-and-so trending right now?" But I figured that danger was worth it, if only to celebrate those who still stride the earth.
  11:29am
Snurdy McSchulkind:

Hey mister, play me some Pete Fountain.
  11:33am
Dean:

Wow. Pete Fountain died.

Funny comment, Snurdy, whoever you may be. Too bad Fountain never sat in with AEoC or Brotzmann's Tentet.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33am
JtotheK:

@McSchulkind - are you thinking 'Licorice Stick'? Maybe follow up with some Lawrence Welk (his 70s output with all the wide open drum breaks and funk covers).
  11:34am
Dean:

Actually, a fair crossover tribute to Fountain would be some of Peplowski's recent original stuff. He satisfies the parents and the kids.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:35am
JtotheK:

@Dean -- whoa, just saw that now myself...didn't know at the time of my comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am
Jeff Golick:

@McShulkind: this is a death-free zone this week. Hiya!
  11:36am
Dean:

Death, unlike beer, is always free.
  11:37am
Snurdy McSchulkind:

Most musicians I derided as a lad I've ended up loving (or at least tolerating). I bet I could come around on ol' Pete.
  11:38am
Dean:

I came to Jesus vis-a-vis Jethro Tull, but nope, I still loathe U2.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:39am
JtotheK:

i still have a soft spot for Al Hirt's 'Soul in the Horn' album, in part because of the Harlem Hendoo track that De La Soul sampled, but also because there's a 45 of 'honey pot' which is a solid tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am
Jeff Golick:

What's unfortunate about U2 is that as they became more loathsome, their earlier, less loathsome material became retroactively more loathsome.
  11:40am
Snurdy McSchulkind:

Billy Joel is the canary in my senility coal mine. When I profess a tolerance for that poseur, put me in a home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Jeff Golick:

It just may be a lunatic you're looking for.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:41am
JtotheK:

and i'm fond of crooners who have 1 track that crossed over to the Northern Soul scene... ie Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka...Tennessee Ernie Ford, etc.
  11:41am
Casey Kasem:

That's the letter U and the number 2, motherfucker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am
Jeff Golick:

I'm gonna run out of runway here; not going to stick the landing. That is, running over today, in order to squeeze in something from a group that has no official releases...
  11:42am
Dean:

Fair assessment, @Jeff G. Agreed re: the Joelster, @faux-Doug, but I think I can tolerate precisely one of his tunes, "Say Goodbye to Hollywood," on its own terms.
  11:44am
Dean:

Tips from the control tower? Anybody?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:47am

@jeffG - looks like you picked the wrong day to stop taking (insert airplane reference here) ...
  11:47am
Snurdcasey McSchulkem:

Gotta go stack some Triscuits. Thanks, Jeff!
  11:48am
Dean:

I went to high school with the singing stewardess. Even worked on stage with her once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am
Jeff Golick:

Glad to snurd you here, @Doug! Stack 'em high!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am
Jeff Golick:

@Dean: is she the one who unplugs the IV with her guitar neck?
  11:51am
Dean:

Among other bits, yeah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am
Andrew Waterloo:

after this I will be picking up this year's swag from the post office.
  11:54am
Dean:

Went on to star as Private Benjamin on TV.

She was one of a group of juniors and seniors who performed as an improv troupe that took high school theater festival awards for their excellence. They were really impressive, very funny, tapped into commedia del'arte.
  11:55am
Dean:

...which aggravates me. Genuine talent gets fed into the sitcom machine, where it's ground to bits.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am
Jeff Golick:

@Andrew: that'll be a fun trip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
Jeff Golick:

@Dean: you watch Bojack Horseman? Pretty good depiction of the meat grinder.
  11:56am
Dean:

@Jeff G.: ???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am
Andrew Waterloo:

I had some extensive luck with the prize account this year.
  11:59am
Dean:

Ah, an animated show from back when. No, don't know it. I eschew TV these days, and mostly altogether since mid-'80s.

Oops. Stream kick in?
  12:00pm
Dean:

Pop-up reads WARM, but tracks are decidedly not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm
Jeff Golick:

@Dean: Bojack Horseman is an animated Netflix series that features as its central character a depressed horse/actor (voiced by Will Arnett) who starred in a crappy yet very successful 1990s sitcom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm
Jeff Golick:

Yeah, some internet trouble. Not sure where the source is...
  12:01pm
Dean:

Back to WARM.

A Netflix series, got it. Nope, not on my radar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm
Jeff Golick:

Ralph Carney and his son (of the Black Keys) did the opening Bojack theme, as it happens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Jeff Golick:

@Dean: your singing stewardess is now an ordained cantor!
  12:04pm
Dean:

Seriously?! I'll look her up. That's hilarious.
  12:05pm
Dean:

OMG, she and I share a birthday! Never knew that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm

Thanks Jeff!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
